Looks like a run and gun wing not to trust as a true fly able unit. Seems like a collapse could easily happen and running to get lift. Thinking it might not give you a real feel for ground handling practice with the line setup. Could you use a different harness rather than the G string model? Nice video guys take care.
I can recommend my Sir Edmund Race in combination with Nova Montis (or the Kortel same model) fully! Flies MUCH better than other single skins and the Montis is one of the most comfortable harnesses light weight or not with only 390g!
Is the sand extra damaging to the wing? Especially since it's an ultra light? Also, I would love to know what the average life expectancy of a light wing is compared to a normal one. I'm thinking of getting a light wing (maybe not a single skin just yet.. perhaps an Advance Pi2 or something like it)
Hi Chris, Sand and rocks are not good for any wing, but that said: the wings are to be used and not only to be collected :-) The single skin is so easy to keep up in the air, that I would say you damage it less! Also the front tube (cells) are open so sand goes in and out immediately where it stays enclosed in other gliders. My Chili 4 was just back from line repair and is on the way to Skywalk again with two damaged shieldings after this one week at the dunes. But spending 50 euros on new lines is like spending petrol on your motorbike: it's part of the hobby! (The xxlite has no damages!) I also own the Pi2 which I would describe as a light version of the Alpha 6 (my former trainer kite, now my son uses it..). The lighter a wing gets, the more agile it reacts. Some might feel less save under this "talkative" wings, but in fact the opposite is true: when there is not much air resistance of air closed inside, the wing opens much faster (single skins even with a loud flap!). So you are faster back in the save zone! An interesting wing is the HYBRID from Apco Paragliders (sorry, spoiler again.. haha). It has closed cells in the front and single skin at the back. It is still light enough for hike and fly, but more "fat" in the air and with noticeable more flare. Still it's not the fastest, which I experienced live when wind picked up and I flew backwards... Thanks Gemma and André for cutting all the scenes of the day into an interesting video. (It was not planned that I come into the interview. That happens when you just walk by 😂.)
True, they can be a pain in the ass, but I’ve had unsheathed lines on my main glider for a good 2-3 years now and that doesn’t happen anymore if you handle them properly. Hard to give tips on how to do that over a comment if you’re interested
As for the tangling: Make it a habit to knot the two riser-sides together right after landing! When you land, the glider is (hopefully) completely clean and untangled, so by knotting the risers you are sure that they haven't gone through or in between any lines on the other side. It eases the layout by 95%!
What I find massively helpful is to knot the end of the risers as Ozone says, but also put the risers into the riser bag that came with the wing. Together that stops 98% of tangles ;-)
These wings blow my mind and instincts of how paraglider wings should work! Thanks to Olaf for sharing one with the channel. Now... can we please put to rest the theory that 'air splits and must join in the trailing edge so the upper air moves faster' theory of why wings fly? :D
@@mbrunnme it's very well proven that this explanation of the air splitting and joining at the trailing edge is wrong. Check this video for example, where it shows very clearly the fluid behavior around the airfoil ua-cam.com/video/VEe7NxB5Vo8/v-deo.html edit: this one is good also ua-cam.com/video/PF22LM8AbII/v-deo.html
yup! I'd love to try a Run&Fly, and pretty much every other wing in the world too. Interview JB about it at the Couple Icare last year and got really tempted to try one :)
Interesting, but bit to risky. I love flying but I value my life more besides reminds me of my last girl. Temperamental and not forgiving. No afence to the lady's, I didn't mean it for most of the woman that love the sport just as much.😋
I want to have light paraglider too but the for the first experience I have decided to buy classic High En-B and it will come to me from day to day) Feel happiness🪂 But at the same time we can't fly during the war in Ukraine. Wait for the war ends and I will start to fly my own paralider)
Where do you guys find this stuff? A single skin wing? I didn't know they even existed! You guys and gals are awesome!
harness by Borat

yeah I did use our normal harness for most of it but thought it would be interesting to test the f*lite harness
Sorry, but that's simply plain wrong... Single skins are actually more resistant to collapse... Source: Owned 2 single skins...
Loved that beach!
How's that's uncollapsible wing going brother??
It's going it's going :) still working on it!
How much is it where can you buy it
I'm curious, the wind you are training in, what "speed", Kts, mph, Kph?
In this video it was around 20km/h I think but we do it in anything between 10 and 40 km/h
the name of the place plz ?
It's almost like a super suit! :)
It's awesome! that's pretty much what it feels like
there is an even lighter one
the dudek run and fly which is 986 grams
She is a Gem-A class! :D polished! Haha Do you go often here to soar?

ive never seen a wing like that before
This is the most useful tip: Xavier BEAUVALLET: How to easily and quickly untangle lines on your paraglider
Good review..........enjoyed it!
Cheers Ripman!

Thanks for the reply and info, Olaf! It's much appreciated! :)
Very interesting. Not for me, but love seeing new technology and the principals behind it!
Performance wise the best single skins are made by Skyman ;)
I hate those unsheathed lines! On my new glider I have spent more time untangling that flying.

Auto-tangle needs to be disabled huh?

Make it as an En "A" and I buy it
As far as I know the only thing that keeps it not en a are the folder lines

The leading edge of this wing would like a word with you.

Single skins freakin scare me!
Niviuk singleskins are good for XC if you choose bigger size.
40% heavier than the run and fly

Bought one today :)
