- On April 20th, Specialized unveiled its latest Epic World Cup Full Suspension Cross Country Bike. Prior to the release, we had the opportunity to assemble a bike in our workshop and capture it on video for you. All weights and details are included in the video and description below.
The new 2023 Specialized Epic World Cup is intended to provide riders with an incomparably direct pedal feedback and maximum efficiency in power transfer thanks to its fully integrated design.
The aim of the bike's engineering team was to set new standards in terms of torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. The diamond frame geometry makes it possible to integrate the shock absorber into the structure of the top tube, resulting in an extra-wide shock absorber bearing that is designed to remain rock-solid even under constant firing. Additionally, the shock absorber and link are protected from dirt and rocks due to their placement.
The highlight of the Epic World Cup is the SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock absorber, developed in collaboration with RockShox. It is intended not only to replicate the direct pedal feedback of a hardtail, but also to effectively absorb strong impacts from the bike and rider, giving the Epic World Cup a fatigue-free, continuous agility like on rails. The 75mm travel is designed to offer a positive travel equivalent to "conventional" 100mm at 25% negative travel in a company setting.
The Epic World Cup is intended to provide a seamless transition from crisp hardtail to performant cross country full suspension. To achieve this, the shock absorber is equipped with independently adjustable positive and negative air chambers, which can be set to three different settings using a dial (0% negative travel, 5% negative travel, and 10% negative travel). This enables each rider to quickly and easily choose their preferred setting and adjust the bike to their preferred riding style or specific course/trail.

Very nice. My first FS MTB was a 2010 Specialized Epic Comp 29er. This build is amazing.
Great! It was pleasure to watch it! 👍

You really looks happy. Very nice bike. Awesome Groupset by Sram.
really a dream to build 👍 and doesn't get any easier than this 🤩
Nice work 🎉

Fantastic 👌👌👍👍

Nice one😊
thanks!
Sub-23lb rocket with a 66.5 degree headtube angle. Pretty amazing.
What units was his scale in when he weighed the final bike
@@atlantic7332 in Kg.
That would look so sick kitted out with bontrager RSL
🤣
My wish is this bicycle 😊
New model🎉

Remote RD ? wow amazing
SC Blur CC next please 😍
Very nice ❤ but...6:20 are you sure that the torque wrench cap is in the 90-degree position to the wrench at the final tightening moment ;)?
❤😊❤😊
It looks the same colour as their S Works steel frames from the early 90s
Hello, I loved the video, the quality of the recording and editing are excellent.
Today I bought the Epic World Cup and I'm waiting for it to arrive, it will be my first carbon bike. I would be interested in knowing where I can see the information on the values of all the tightening torques for the screws of each component with the torque wrench. Where can I get that information, thank you very much.
Hi, thanks for the kind feedback! you should get a really good manual with the bike, but you can look everything up online as well: support.specialized.com/kb/sp_en-us/content/ECV3-5347/Benutzerhandbcher-und-Technische-Informationen
Trek supercaliber ?
Porque la pesan sin pedales..???
La personas tenemos pies no pedales.
Looks like a Trek.
Is cabled xtr possible with this frame?
Sakin nlng yan boss
hi i haves works but the steering is not full loocked you can rotate
The smile on his face when he saw 10 kilos
Wish to biy this domeday
Like you bike stand!, is it homemade or who makes it? I suppose it is suspended from ceiling joists or something like that?
yes, we build it ourselves and it's a VAR clamp and a post mounted directly to the ceiling.
Trek ! 👍
🤤🤤🤤😭😭😭🙌🙌🙌
Why You painted Specialized logo on Trek frame ? ;P
Fuck me those new SRAM derailleurs are heavy
Have you just distassembled it to assemble it again? 😂
Why the enduro xo crank arms when the SL would be lighter
the build was really short notice and thats only configuration we were able to get 😬
Does the non-mullet setup effect the frame?
it's a 29er and not really intended for a mullet build.
what color is the frame?
Dropper post?
Nice work. Green, really? No way. 😂
What exactly is the point of weighting all the parts separately?!? Just weight the build after it’s done?
Awesome bike give away please
No dropper post?
no, cause Spec released new carbon seatpost too so they have to include it in promo videos :)
This Crainkset is one simple BSA??
yes, its a standard BSA bottom bracket
not having a dropper post on that bike is a crime
Treckialized Epicaliber
Is it a TREK under covers?
no, all specialized 😅👍
Where did I get part plz tell me
directly from specialized
Me after realizing that it costs more than my car : now that's a true dream build.
yeah... and that's the "budget" version 😅
How much would the premium version cost …😢
10.2kg without pedals??? its not replacing a hard tail anytime soon. My current Epic HT is 8.8kg with a dropper and my 2021 Epic (L) is 10.27kg with a dropper and with XTR pedals (Control SL wheelset though)... Not sure why you would bother?
Crankset on this setup is surprinsingly heavy, also the tires and new derrailleur.
@@ManuelMartinez09 This is also a Medium so 130g lighter than a large... You're right though. With some Aspens, and XX1 SL bits you can save some grams, but If they are aiming this at an HT replacement, its not even close. The ONLY reason the pros choose an HT at some events is for the weight savings... Even with XX SL drivetrain and Control SL wheels, the S-Works model is still going to be at least 1.5kg heavier than the HT, and only a smidge lighter (if at all) than the current Epic... pointless exercise...
Function and durability is much more important like weight.
@@andrejhaluska4061 if it can survive the pros using it, us mere mortals will be fine (excluding bad luck) My XX1 AXS has been exceptional.
Even with your suggestion, its still at least 2kg too fat for an HT replacement.
Blevins will LOVE it for short track, and only ride it for the $$$ in the XCO... Id wager its the same for the other riders also...
There is almost no make sense compare a double suspension vs. rigid bike in terms of weight
Should have Shimano brakes.
the new levers with the hose running parallel to the bars is actually really nice with the routing through the headset 🤩👍 way cleaner look than you could get with the shimanos
isnt it 110mm at the front?
whoops... 🙈😬 thanks for the heads up 👍
@@worldofmtb cheers!

The stage is now set for suspension gravel 🤣
Niner has one since 2018 with a really cool name: magic carpet ride, but it never took of the ground as the name would suggest 😅
cool build, why dream build? because there is no money to collect such a bike)
Why not build the bike and weight it? You have less rounding/prob of error.
this way you get to see the weight of the frame and especially a real frame and always the same scale and not just a claimed weight from the manufacturer..
10.280 es su peso sin pedales.
specialized procaliber
epiccaliber 😉 its really more of a similar solution for the same problem from two different companies 😬
The weights don't really match up with Specialized claims...
The frame weight Specialized claims is from the S-works frame with the even better fact 12m carbon fibers, whereas ours is the little less expensive 11m version: 0:16
We hope to get an s-works frame soon to check 😉
Bar’s position looks weird.
Waaas ?
If you take off the Sram brakes and drivetrain, put on some dropper, it might be a good bike.
have you tried the new ones yet? 😉
he could avoid all this weighing if he just weighed the final product
Porque carajos pesan en libras
es la unidad mundialmente más extendida
@@ab-6542 jajaja. En dónde?? EEUU e Inglaterra. Los demas kg
Dream? Without the sl series? This is only the build of a stock bike, nothing.about dreams
Trek supercaliber 🤣🤣🤣
No dropper,no brain...
half a brain... in the fork 😉
don't understand why waste time weighing all the components.
ask all the weight weenies out how they feel about it 😉 and it's really nice to have a real weight for the frame and not just what Specialized claims.
@@worldofmtb of course, I understand their that their legs are so weak.
supercaliber copycat,.lol
2nd gen. of Supercaliber without bugs ;)
10.7 kg on pedals 😢🤢
the s-works is gonna be lighter and those are the "cheap" wheels, you could easily build a sub 10kg version 👍
You should first learn how to use the torque wrench correctly.
Its just a bloody bicycle, for fucks sake.
