- Pavel Vranicky (Paul Wranitzky) - Symphony in C Major, Dvorak Chamber Orchestra, Bohumil Gregor (conductor)
“Pavel Vranický, later Germanized as Paul Wranitzky (30 December 1756 - 29 September 1808), was a Moravian classical composer.
At age 20, like so many other Czech composers of that period, he moved to Vienna to seek out opportunities within the Austrian imperial capital.
From 1790, he conducted both royal theater orchestras. He was highly respected by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven; the latter two preferred him as conductor of their new works (e.g., Beethoven's First Symphony, in 1800).
Wranitzky was a prolific composer. His output comprises ten operas, 44 symphonies, at least 56 string quartets (some sources give a number as high as 73) and a large amount of other orchestral and chamber music.” (wikipedia)
A magnificent performance of the most beautiful symphony of Paul Wranitsky that I have heard till now. Thank You !
Thank you too! I agree with you, it is an admirable symphony.
one of the best symphonies I've ever heard
Thank you. I'm glad you liked this symphony.
A great symphony indeed
En dejlig levende koncert fuld af liv og aktivitet.....
I’m not really a music expert but imo that 2nd movement tends to really anticipate some of the slower movements of Beethoven’s symphonies (symphony #2 and 4 is in my mind). It just so grand in scale and as well as how the woodwind parts play an important role in this piece. Really reminds me more of Beethoven than Haydn or even Mozart tbh. That’s just my take haha
I appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
Wow. There are so many Wranitzky symphonies i have never heard.
Yes, the two Wranitzky, Pavel and Antonin, were prolific composers. And I think they both have extraordinary compositions.
what for a beautiful symphony!. It´s really one of those music pieces that schould be heard .
I agree, thank you!
He's amazing. Definitely one of the greats. Thanks for the upload. It's a great recording. I love the way they played it. :)
Thank you too!
Grandiosa sinfonía de Pavel Vranicky como toda su obra musical. Destaco de ella su majestuoso y solemne segundo movimiento de una dimensión inusitada. Gracias por presentar esta virtuosa ejecución. Desde Bogotá - Colombia.
I thank you too for this nice comment!
Mächtige, alles erobernde Harmonien !!! Powerful, all-conquering Heavenly Forces sound in this symphony !!! Tepper Michael.
Thank you! I love the Vranicky brothers' music too.
Wow 👌
Thanks for liking
Beethoven's concert master
Thank you!
What concert's master does mean precisely ? What is it's role exactly ? Thanks !
@@alexisarmengaud9985 He often led the violins in Beethoven's orchestra. I might be wrong.... it is possible he conducted Beethoven's performances as a conductor. He for sure conducted the premier of Beethoven's 1st symphony.

Does anyone know what the Opus number of this symphony is?
According to The Wranitzky Project the liner notes for this CD identify incorrect this symphony as Op. 11 no 1. This is in fact the symphony Op.2.
(I preferred not to write this, this information could also be wrong)
After comparing this with a different recording of the same work (by the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra), I can confirm that this is indeed the Symphony Op.2 "Joy of the Hungarian Nation"

CETTE MUSIQUE N'EST PAS DE CE MONDE !!! Tepper Michael.
Beethoven should bow to Vranicky Paul !!!!!!!!! Tepper Michael.
Hm. Sounds not like a "chamber orchestra" to me, rather as a very big orchestra. Is it not a bit too voluminous?
Perhaps you are right, but I write what is written on the cover of the album.
@@sibarit101 It wasn't meant as an offence to you. Just a statement. :-)
I think it is a misunderstanding, I did not feel at all offended! (probably my answer contains something ambiguous or too ... stiff(?) ... English is not my language ... I'm sorry ...)
@@sibarit101 No prob. Everything's ok :-) Thanks for uploading such wonderful music.
Very effective music well shaped the orchestration. The development is weak compared to Haydn's works and modulation far inferior to Mozart's : but it's a pity he and his brothers have been propmptly forgotten after their death. Thank you sibarit101 for uploading!
Thank you too!
As a lover of classical music and as a "music collector" I respect everyone's opinion, but I must say that in his time, Pavel Vranicky was one of the most appreciated musicians in Europe. But the tastes of the audience change, so we, today's music lovers, but also the instrumentalists, first learned about Mozart's existence, and much later about Vranicky and even Haydn. They've all written masterpieces that sound brilliant and imaginative to some and are second-rate or even boring to others.
I personally like this symphony better than a lot of Haydn symphonies imho. It has a lot of quality and character to it
