for a mobile chip, those i5 and i7 basically the same config with 2 core 4 theard. just a little difference at clock speed, so it will not make a huge performance difference.
@Senior Partner Nope, not how that works. 13 inch macbooks have the lowest specs for a reason. 1. If you want to have a good chip (i7 i9 etc) you need to have the adequate motherboard which are big and they can't fit into a small 13 inch macbook body. 2. If you watch the video closely enough you can see on the motherboard there are specified numbers/codes, those mean that only chipsets that have the matching codes can work on that specified motherboard (the numbers/codes are for the pins so if you don't have the right pins for the processor it will simply not work). 3. Thermals, a chonky thicc boi like i7 and i9 CAN NOT HAVE THE PROPER COOLING TO RUN ON A THIN AND LIGHT AND MOSLTLY SMOLL LAPTOP
@Senior Partner nope...That's kinda stupid I shall say, a lot of laptops are like this, you can't just simply change the CPUs. But laptops like the Area 51 or something it's called, has an option for changing chips, which is kinda nice
thank you your Video it ist very iteresting. But why you have made solder balls on the board ? What is the advantage for this technique? I hope you can give me answer
Hi, as you know is it possible to upgrade from 7500u to 8550u since they have the same socket and thermal proprieties, also often they were used to upgrade same ultrabooks on a year later newer versions, like for xu490ua to xu490uar.

The CPU pin-out has to be the same and the BIOS have to contain a microcode for new processor. i9 9900k is much much newer than a motherboard from 2012 Mac, so I'm guesting that this won't fit.
the bga pin out is totally different lol. u can have hard time replacing a 2 core i5 5th gen with 2 core i7 5th gen and 4core is not even possible! only laptops older than 2nd gen has socketed cpu and if the cooler is good enough u can upgrade from a pentium to a 4 core unlocked i7 with some bios tweeks! and that's why thinkpad t420's r so favorite of many people! u can swap anything and make it a beast!
