Some house cleaning. First and foremost, I am going to be editing this video a little bit, I’ll be cutting a chunk out due to the request of the artist’s friend and I’ll also be looking at blurring out some usernames and such. I’ll address this in more depth in Part 2 and I’ll also be changing some of the ways I present things in Part 2. For that same reason I am going to be removing the original/unedited images and docs from the archive for the sake of those involved. Basically many of the people being used as ammunition against Volt in the original archive never wanted that to be the case, much less so many years later. Those people, mostly minors at the time, dont deserve to have this follow them forever and so I’m going to do my best to strip their name from this coverage. These people aren’t the bad guys, they had bad experiences with Volt and then had that fact used to add to the dog pile, sometimes against their wishes. Most notably I want to address Stormai, she was a child at the time and I know I said this in the video but I have to really emphasis it here, Stormai was a CHILD who didn’t know what they were doing. They never intended to out Volt, they did not know their actions would even be outing Volt. They were a kid who made a mistake with no malicious intent and they are not the bad guy of that story. The bad guy of that story were the blog moderators that used that situation at the time to demonise Volt and spew vile rhetoric about ‘you wouldn’t be killed only tortured’. If anyone came away with the idea Stormai was being cruel intentionally I am sorry, that was not my intent and if I gave people that impression I have failed. I’ll be addressing this further in part 2. And of course if anyone else has an concerns about the coverage thus far or concerns for part 2 please let me know, my door is open and I’m always willing to hear you out. I've just started watching the video BUT WHAT- As a Malaysian, yes there isn't a death penalty for being gay. BUT, you could get imprisoned for up to 20 years. The "being tortured" part would be you getting canned [basically getting whipped] SEVERAL TIMES a day. I heard those who do get canning punishments would have it done on their private parts. It's not bad, it's much.. much worse. Those kinds of punishments are brutal and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. My country desperately needs to progress past the need to punish lgbtq+ people who are just trying to live their lives, and I'm saying this as someone who's a part of the community. I wish to move out of the country once I'm able to because of that.
*For further context regarding Stormai outing Volt to their father:* Volt is from Malaysia. I believe around the Kuala Lumpur region, as I remember occasional posts about them living somewhat close to the Petronas Towers at the time. Volt is arguably not exaggerating when they said that them being outed like that could get them outright killed. LGBT+ rights are non-existent in Malaysia. They have a criminal ban on s*d*my and the punishments include hefty fines, prison sentences of up to 20 years, and caning (where people are hit with a rattan cane multiple times resulting in welts and cuts). Muslim citizens may also additionally be convicted in a court under Sharia Law where they can receive capital punishment. Cases of violence and extrajudicial executions against LGBT+ Malaysians are tolerated by the government and the government actively promotes conversion therapy. Just to give an even further idea on how bad it is to be LGBT+ in Malaysia, here are notable events that happened roughly around the time that Stormai outed Volt: In 2010 the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia decided to only allow depictions of homosexual characters as long as said characters, "repent," or die. In 2017 an LGBT+ pride march was cancelled due to Islamic pressures and threats. In 2018 two women were convicted due to birds and the bees stuff in a car, and they were caned in front of an audience. Hell, in as recent as 2019 a gay bar in Kuala Lumpur was raided by police and officials, which resulted in many LGBT+ Malaysians getting beaten up and charged for s*d*my (which included caning in front of an audience). Stormai outing Volt like that was incredibly dangerous and entirely too many people were looking at the situation through an American and European lense.
Hell, as a European there are still PLENTY of places where it’s not safe to be outed here, so they don’t even have the excuse of ignorance. I can’t imagine thinking it’s even _remotely_ okay to out someone without knowing their situation (or at all but you get the point.)
As a Malaysian, everything you said here is true. The situation here is quite terrible, and I'm saying this as someone who's a part of the community. Younger generations may be more tolerant but those in power could easily make situations worse. I recall watching our Prime Minister encouraging and promoting conversion therapy LIVE. I heard it with my own ears, as it was a response to a feminist march that promoted lgbtq+ acceptance that took place sometime right before covid [I may be misremembering details, so take this with a grain of salt]. It was horrifying, especially as a closeted bisexual living with transphobic parents. One of our states even recently proposed a law that prohibits women from wearing "male clothing" due to the supposed rising of lesbians and "male-presenting females" [a rude way of saying trans-men, basically]. I can't believe our country is going backwards like this.
Internet is full USAnized or whatever Word you think its Best. What I mean is that every comment are mostly thinked in an USA standpoint. Issues that are important there like race, culture appropiation, feminism, polítics, religión, laws and stuff like that are shoved in videos like the world truth to everyone to shallow. I am from Europe but I have known people from very different parts of the world. I and most of my country are very aware (you can always find stupid people everywhere, but most people o have interacted with have demostrated this kind of understanding) that we are not the center of the world and that other parts have different problems than us. But internet is weird in that way that people have to be constantly remainded that you are not from USA and some other countries when you comment about something with a different point of view. Can I raise my hand and say that they have been a big spark in my live, someone who I look up in respect and love, I am willing to out myself that i was the the teen who want to copy their style, that I did. Dude... Wtf... 1:05:00 As a person who grew up in Malaysia, do NOT EVER downplay the severity of the situation there. Yes, more support is appearing, especially in the younger generations, and yes, there are safe spaces there, but it is still extremely dangerous. Do you know what it's like having to grow up knowing that you cannot trust people? Knowing that even if someone seems trustworthy, they could turn around and strip you away from all your loved ones for 7 years and have you beaten? Do you know what it's like to be lashed so badly that you have deep, bloody wounds on your back? Do you know what it's like to grow up knowing that that is going to happen to your loved one if they are caught? Because it doesn't matter how much the younger generations is more accepting, all it takes is one asshole to tell on you. This is even worse if you're Malay and therefore legally a Muslim. The Shariat law has the right to break into your home and forcefully arrest you based off of a simple rumour. They don't even need to issue an apology if the claim was false. What's worse is that the government has propped up this system as in favour of Malays instead of a detriment. This system of "justice" is one that is good for you, it cares about you, ignoring the fact that if you are caught not agreeing with it then you will be beaten into submission. Seeing someone so carelessly brush away the seriousness of the problems with Malaysia just because the situation has mildly improved, despite the fact that there are still people fighting to incorporate the death penalty in again for things like sex outside marriage and being gay, is not only a slap in the face but outright disgustingly immoral.
Man, when I saw the title of this video my jaw _dropped._ Rebornica/Volt’s art was a _huge_ part of my early FNAF phase and their art was part of what got me into the fandom for the game. I had no idea any of this craziness happened - I stayed on the game side of the fandom for a while and forgot about them until now. This is honestly kind of sad.

@@probablybird3927 I wasn't involved, I was just following Volt on tumblr from 2014-2017 and pretty chronically online. But the incidents of manipulation and threatening self harm/suicide are absolutely true, as well as the fact that they were indeed very mentally ill despite what some may try to claim. Volt also had a habit of posting some pretty inflammatory stuff in the early hours and then deleting it soon after. (Unsurprising since they were a teenager with poor impulse control) One personal incident I saw that wasn't shown in this video was the time Volt implied that their Night Terror version of Vincent with wings (night terror being like an in universe game/tv series in pilot, and this guy in particular also manifested as a hallucination for them and was like their friend) was going to manifest in the homes of those who upset them and it legitimately freaked some people out because they were all teenagers at the time and Volt ended up backpedaling the next day. Basically as I understand it, Volt pissed a lot of people off as a severely mentally ill and shitty teenager (and adult so it seems) which inspired other mentally ill and shitty people to say and do absolutely horrible things to them in a horrific cycle for years at a time. I don't know a ton about the more serious allegations because as I got to the tail end of high school, I thought the situation was more trouble than it was worth and bailed. I also vividly remember being told by a friend in high school to check the updates on volt bc that was the day they were outed to their father. It was a crazy ride that was going on around the same time as sonic for real justice so tumblr had a LOT of things going on at the same time to talk about.

The whiplash seeing Rebornica’s FNAF art again is real. I actually recall downloading one of the callout google docs on Rebornica and skimming through it. i hate to be mean to the people who composed this doc, but the whole art theft segment was especially braindead. its almost as if children who spend lots of time in the same spaces consuming the same media, WORKING TOGETHER to make characters, and sharing storylines therein making themselves even more involved with each other- are going to have similar character designs. like i could arguably find the same amount of shared design elements between artman and countdown as hacker and countdown- its almost as if making a menagerie of android/mecha characters are going to look similar. and you can tell theyre drawing inspo from a mutual source/each other because their styles are similar too. the obtuseness of the art situation in particular is also mind-boggling. are these people telling me a handful of youtubers making a video essay merely retconning a situation are able to find the inspirations for the "copied" characters but the people making the doc didnt bother to do that first before presenting it as supposedly hard evidence? it just seems very disingenuous. i wouldntve been as upset about it if it wasnt apparent that this situation wasnt a genuine, wholehearted dogpile attempt flooding the claims with as many as they could muster, legitimate or not. not to mention the hypocrisy, and the fact theyre dredging up years old situations as if character development between teen and adult ages isnt real. it just *screams* terminally online

I have one issue with this video, and that’s that it felt like the person voicing Volt tried to make them sound whiny. I liked that other VAs in the video just read the messages. I just have a bit of an issue with this because it was difficult to focus on the actual message and it changed the tone Edit: I’m trying to watch it again while I draw but the voice is so annoying that I literally can’t. So I will not be watching this again.
yeah, i was about to comment about this too. dude is being an asshole when i’d rather just hear him read the messages straight. the stupid voice he does makes it hard to listen to and forces some bias against the listener. we’re not hearing some stupid child complain about how their pose was stolen, we’re hearing a teenager/young adult explaining things they are asked about.
that was exactly what i was thinking. it made it difficult to tell in the beginning if we were supposed to be sympathizing with volt when the guy reading out their messages sounded so... degrading. i agree one hundred percent that it changed the tone. it would have been better if they'd just told the va to read the lines differently or gotten someone else to do it.

The thing that pissed me off the most is that kids and people that claimed to be “studying psychology” are trying to say someone faked something. Most people can’t even notice that someone’s depressed… how are you expected to tell if someone is suffering with something else? ESPECIALLY if the person is masking. Yes DID/OSDD doesn’t form after the age of 10- but most people don’t even know/get diagnosed until later in life. Some people not even knowing unless it’s a extreme case of the disorders. Every system is different and that’s with any disorder. Like how one autistic person will be extremely nonverbal and another one will be completely verbal. I’m not going to say I’m a psychologist or a mental health professional. But I do have the common fucking sense to not assume I know everything about a person. Volt even SAID they were misdiagnosed. Do you KNOW how hard it is to get a right diagnosis is for schizophrenia , DID/OSDD, or even fucking BPD??? Not to mention it’s expensive, you also will probably not have enough time with the doctor for them to get all the information they need. It all depends on the doctor. It also depends on if the doctor is biased, religious, other factors. Because surprise surprise! Doctors can be wrong or assholes. So yeah. Fuck people who just “claim” they know someone’s faking a disorder. Yeah the person might be faking, but you don’t have the fucking right to point that shit out unless the PERSON admits to faking it. You are NOT a doctor.
Also, they use the term "classic autism" (which isn't a thing, nor are any functioning labels ever appropriate to describe someone else) and call it a mental illness. I'm honestly surprised people that are supposedly "studying psychology" don't know that it's unethical (and possibly illegal but don't quote me on that) to diagnose someone over the internet. I thought that's one of the first things they teach you: don't diagnose strangers, people you've never met in person or haven't spoken to personally. Any professional or student would probably get barred from the practice for doing that. Then again, these people could be lying or think a quick google search for the webmd page counts as "studying psychology." ugh.
You're so right about this!! I'm taking two psych courses in uni (psychology and gender, as well as clinical psychology) and our first part of the course was completely breaking down the stereotype that everyone with a single mental disorder acts the same/has the same symptoms. And even at that, we have an extremely rudimentary understanding on mental disorders and abnormalities in the first place that people genuinely have a lot of trouble diagnosing/recognizing even in the more solid disorders we have knowledge of. Also its painfully obvious that some people are going "well actually I study psychology" and looked at the list of symptoms on google without going into the nuances of the disorder/diagnosis or talking to someone who is diagnosed with the disorder. Final note as well - Thank you for pointing out doctors can be wrong. A lot of psychologists I've met have been bigoted, biased, and for my own personal diagnoses (ADHD, autism, and C-PTSD) I struggled a lot - not because I don't have them, but I don't fit the stereotypes of someone who has those disorders (I'm assigned female at birth, i have inattentive-type adhd, my C-PTSD isn't from war, etc etc)
To be 100% fair about the age thing, that's highly debated anyways and from what I found online it's also possible to present with symptoms later in live even if you developed the condition at a young age.
i wanted to use this comment to get something off my chest: when people claim to be _"studying psychology"_ or _"taking psychology classes"_ with vague wording in contexts like this, i immediately call bullshit. 90% of the time they're referring to an elective high school class that teaches the absolute bare basics of psychology. i have never seen a real psychologist use appeal to authority to accuse someone of faking a mental illness online.

I feel like the establishment that Volt has several mental illnesses and neurodivergencies really does drive home alot of this mad house bullshit- like, Volt's paranoia when it comes to friends talking about them could very much be driven by schizoaffective disorders and/or bpd. It seems from an outside persoective very unnecessary, but as an effect of mental distress, paranoia, and delusions- it makes sense
As someone who has worked in psychology for 16 years, there are few things more aggravating to me than seeing some teenager /early twenty-something diagnosing people or claiming that a stated diagnosis is wrong/a lie based on a google search or their unfinished college education. I'd love to see some of these first year psych majors tell any of their professors that they've been diagnosing people online. That'd go over great. No legit psych professional is going to diagnose someone based on their Tumblr posts or whatever. That is shady as hell. Sorry, I'm only 14 minutes into this video but this is a huge pet peeve of mine and had to vent.
I have no idea who any of the people are in this drama, but whoever VO'd for Volts made it incredibly hard to understand what was being said. You cant use the same whiny inflection for every scenerio. The dissonance in some of the things written and what was being said just made it confusing. I ended up just skipping or pausing and reading things myself. If you're going to give an intentional tone at least make it match the author or the narrative being expressed

So I'm not even 10 minutes in but I _do_ wanna give a bit of info on misdiagnosing for those just curious. If I remember correctly, Volt is not from Europe or America, so thus, their psychological treatment options may differ significantly. Hell, one can say even treatment between Canada and America can be different. Another thing is, sadly, misdiagnosis is a common plague in the psychologist's profession. That isn't even due to "bad doctor" or "patient lying." Our understanding of neurodiversity continues to this day. To use myself as an example, as a child in the 90s, I was diagnosed with a "mild form of ADD." In the 2010s as an adult, I was rediagnosed with ADHD (the proper term for the ADHD spectrum) in the cluster C/mixed category. That's just a little over 10 years. TEN, and so much has already changed. Anyways, nothing to do with Volt really, but I did wanna offer this point because this is a passion of mine and one I feel can sometimes slip past other people's awareness.

I followed them for a really long time until they deactivated their mx-bones account and asked people to not use vic as a representation of the purple guy anymore. The splatoon one is so ridiculous because they just didn't research splatoon characters at all. Short or tall, that doesn't actually apply to age in splatoon nor in real life either and you can set your own splatoon character to whatever age you want because you play as a self insert and to just hear them not know anything about what they were making a claim of is hilarious The fact that the nothing claims are prioritized over the more serious ones is so annoying. I think it's even worse because we have canon adults in splatoon to compare player characters to- Splat 2 has idols that are both 21 and 18, and they are roughly the same size as player models. Not only that, but the 21 year old is actually *shorter* than the 18 year old.

God seeing their name was a huge kick in the face. It never fails to make me remember all the shitstorm that happened during 2014 until late 2018 somewhere, I was only in the sidelines. Volt was, during my 2014 FNAF era was a huge inspiration to me and I followed them and wanted to be like them, noticed by them etc. Little did I know I subconsciously inherited one of their internet habits of venting online (don't really do it anymore, only in private) and a few years down the line after witnessing the horrendous amount of drama and abuse that I heard I tried to stop following them entirely atp,, it made me wonder in the long run how much sadness and disappointment I felt that I followed someone like them and the constant intrusive thoughts of "what if" that I might end up like them or what if I turned out to be a horrible person bcs I followed someone that I genuinely admired, followed and was letdown all this time y'know? I guess it's the feeling of betrayal that someone you used to look up to for quite a long while ended up being not a good person back then after every single call-out I've seen of them and, yeah, it never fails to scare/terrify me that I might end up being like them and tried my hardest to never want to think about this person ever again. It honestly made me rethink of my old actions during my mid-teens also and wondered if there'll still be people out there that might call me out on actions I've never once meant to happen or the such. For once I'll admit I'm glad I kinda ended up becoming a private person with less friends and is open to criticism overall. And for all I know, I've moved on from them and I'm never going to follow them again, not after everything I've heard and witnessed. I hope all the victims are doing alright now and got the help they needed. (( Sorry if this ended up as a vent but I feel like I needed to let this out once, I moved on from Volt but this brought back some old old memories :') ))

Honestly, thank you for making this video. Volt, or Bones as I knew them, was a friend/acquaintance of mine, and I remember having to watch them go through years of drama and abuse. They were by no means a flawless individual and I do remember them acting out, but something people like to forget is that they were a literal child. Sadly after the drama resurfaced roughly three or four years ago they panicked and nuked the discord server I was in, but I always figured it was best to let them keep to their group of close friends and wish them the best. It still kills me when I hear about people slinging mud their way.

Rebornica was a massive inspiration to me as a...10 year old back in 2015, they're the person who really got me into fandom and drawing my own characters, this is gonna be a good one.
i remember rebornica, i was a fan of their work for a while and wondered why they suddenly left the internet. not gonna lie... the art theft part of the video made me lose so many brain cells. the amount of times I've seen people claim "character theft" over a character having similar colors and patterns is just ridiculous, people need to understand that they don't own a color palette, a pose, markings, ect. also, holy shit the outing scandal, why the fuck would stormai do such a thing!? even if you think they live in a country that's somewhat LGBT friendly you STILL don't out someone just in case their family isn't welcoming to anyone who's LGBTQ. and the way people twisted their words to make them the bad guy... after being outed... while living in a situation that is dangerous for people in the LGBT community... i just can't... also seriously? calling someone a pedo for making suggestive and lewd content? a zoophile for drawing furry smex? i just... dude my brain can't handle any more braincell lost...

This really makes me so so sad. I had loved their FNAF AU but beyond that I loved their Pilot webcomic so so much. It was one of my special interests for years. Some of which, such as the characters Mahogany, Vendetta, and so so many more are comfort characters of mine tainted by their creator. I no longer support them, but I’m so sad that anther talented artist ended up so bad.
Having watched this whole thing now, it seems like SO many people here (on both sides) have a terrible habit of being chronically online. They all need to go out, touch some grass, and then get some therapy, I stg. I grew up with Rebornica. I loved their art style and wanted mine to be like theirs, they were my biggest inspiration for so long. For years I would attend all their live streams and try to be as active as possible with them - even trying to reach out to them multiple times for various reasons, I bought merch from them, drew fan art, they had a huge impact on me. To say they helped shape me as an artist in general is an understatement. I'm thankful tho that I didn't get too close. Their story is one filled with genuine depression and I'm still sometimes sad for the hurt they experienced/the pain inflicted on others due to their own. I feel for anyone who was directly involved or impacted. I watched in real time the "downfall" if that's what people would like to refer to it as. It's crazy seeing people talking about it, it feels so long ago yet not too distant at all. I hope the best for everyone regardless tho. It's again very sad.. ALSO FUCK YEAH PONDER!! LET'S GOOOO!!

Haven’t seen the full video yet but I feel the need to state this in case it isn’t mentioned. A recent development was rebornica (or someone posing as them) attempting to claim that fuboo (another previous FNAF artist who was recently under fire for being a groomer and allowing her husband to rape an individual under the influence.) had groomed them as well. I’m unsure of the validity of Rebornicas claim but the original victim who came out against fuboo had taken care of it legally and now has a restraining order against Fuboo and her husband.
I saw someone in the comments of that call out post who claimed to be rebs friend talk about that, but since everything was deleted and they wanted to move on, I guess we wont really know much. Though considering what fuboo has been accused of it wouldn’t surprise me.

I always thought that one phase about hating witches was less about witches and more surrounding the drama of it being a jab at an ex-friend who was just really into witch characters and had a witch-sona. That being said, I remember I stopped being an observer of that fandom when it just got too toxic and tiring to keep up with all the day by day changes quite a bit earlier than that drama (compared to stuff like games, creator fandoms sometimes tread a little too close to personality cults and the rebornica fans ran pretty close to a cult of personality at times). Man this brings me back, and I always loved that take on purple guy but as an adult looking back I just really enjoy some of the design tropes like the simple shape eyes on that design more than the character itself.

Rebornica was my first artist inspo, and had influenced me creating my own characters, as well as FNAF being my furst fandom. I remember how Jeremike, The Purple Toast guy, Fritz and Phone Guy with a phone head were really popular, I still have some fanart of them in old sketchbooks from 2014. They got me into fandoms as a whole and began that love of (certain parts) or fandoms. Then they made a "orginal" comic, starting stealing art and claiming art and characters as their own, and all this drama started coming about. It got really scary, and eventually I got into the Portal 2 and BATIM fandoms and forgot about Rebornica until now. It taught me the kind of person with my creations NOT to become. 😅💙
So weird because I remember following them on tumblr back in the day, and they really inspired my art style and I remember seeing all the drama coming up and always being so confused?? So having this videos years later talking about it, and seeing what they're doing now since I completely forgot about them until this popped into my recommendations and this drama is even MORE insane then I thought??? Unrelated but, Fun Fact about Rebornica's Vincent: In 2018-2019, People in the Gacha Community started to put Vincent in their AUs in a very annoying way. Gacha Vincent (or Scapegoat as I like to call em) was always portrayed as William's dead brother, Glitchtrap and the true killer of the missing children, controlling William's mind. As AUs started to become more and more "Canon", People soon dropped Vincent from their AUs.
Tbh that was more 2020-2021 and wow that section of fandom was brutal. As someone who created videos of that (as seen on my channel) the viewers' likes and canons were ever-changing. I'm also fairly sure most of us didn't know who Volt was and went with a new scapegoat because people kept getting mad at current AUs. I could go on a whole tyraid about this but I don't think people would want to read that.
I'm still only 15-20 minutes in and omfg, these people need to sit down and take a chill pill. As a psychology student, I think it so scummy that someone accuse others people that they faked to have a mental illness without even knowing them personally. Look, mental illness is not that simple. It's extremely complicated. To be diagnosed, usually you'll have go through many sessions with a psychiatrist. Even then, there're many factors that go into a diagnosis. Financial, doctor biases and hell, even the patient themselves(either they not really in their right mind to tell the psychiatrist, their description could be a bit too complicated and not clear, or they simply do not trust you enough to tell you the full story and hide many details, I know I did that when I talk with a psychiatrist). Even if you didn't have those problems, misdiagnose is still gonna happen, considering the symtoms of the illnesses overlap with each other. So please, unless you're a doctor and have worked with them directly for multiple sessions, please just shut up and stop acuse others for faking mental illness.

To me, it seems like a lot of mentally ill teens / young adults gaslighting and hurting eachother. I hope everyone in this situation has grown past this behaviour and has gotten the help they need. That honestly doesn't surprise me, tumblr has a lot of mentally ill people in its userbase, some good and some bad. And the bad tends to cause a LOT of problems. Pretty much everybody involved in the drama is an ass and that doesn't surprise me either. I've witness SO much petty nonsense on tumblr over the years.

In the segment of "you have to post everything about your OCs because they are my special interest and if you don't I'll have a meltdown!" NO. NO. STRAIGHT UP DOWNRIGHT *NO.* As someone with autism, which one of my strongest symptoms is having strong special interests, I have to say- you CANNOT use that as an excuse to treat someone else's creation like you are entitled to it. My special interest is my OWN OCs, so in a way I know exactly what it feels like on both ends, and out of the two I believe that someone should have the right to keep information about their own OCs private even if it may affect someone with autism. Because while we cannot help having autism, we are still responsible for managing our own disorder.

Yeah, Tumblr kids were very interesting individuals. I was using it since 2012/2013- the demise. Once tumblr went down and they flooded Twitter, so much toxicity entered that place when it was pretty much a space mostly for celebs. They've taken the harmful mentalities as children, due to the echo chamber they're living in, to their adult lives thinking the behavior is valid when it's not. It's pathetic and really sad to witness.

I remember before William Afton had a canonical name, I genuinely thought his name was Vincent and did not realize that Vincent is an OC for a very long time lolol I also remember a small small amount of drama from back when they were in the FNaF fandom, but I was probably too young to be deep into it.
As a Splatoon gamer the ages of the characters are technically not mentioned and are up to the players interpretation. They gain the ability to switch between forms and look fully human around 14 which people run with to make EVERY character that age. My own characters both original and agents are not kids and in their 20s. It doesn't help that yeah people love drawing porn of them like their 14 and in terms of size they're also canonly the size of a cat but the characters also have grown up with the games (I wouldn't even say splat3 is child coded when compared to the first two) but It's def messy but absolutely stupid to assume someone's Splatoon OC is below 18 because ADULTS DO EXIST in the universe of the world (some of them being literally over 100+ years old) Ranting cause never see anyone talk about the game and good lord the fandom argues this shit all the time

However, browsing things like shota/loli and creating it is 100% illegal in the United States and many other places like the UK. (If you'd like to research this, the exact code for the United States explaining this law is USC1466A.) Can you get in legal trouble for being an adult doing sex stuff with another consenting adult? Alright everyone! Some house cleaning.
First and foremost, I am going to be editing this video a little bit, I’ll be cutting a chunk out due to the request of the artist’s friend and I’ll also be looking at blurring out some usernames and such.
I’ll address this in more depth in Part 2 and I’ll also be changing some of the ways I present things in Part 2. For that same reason I am going to be removing the original/unedited images and docs from the archive for the sake of those involved. Basically many of the people being used as ammunition against Volt in the original archive never wanted that to be the case, much less so many years later. Those people, mostly minors at the time, dont deserve to have this follow them forever and so I’m going to do my best to strip their name from this coverage. These people aren’t the bad guys, they had bad experiences with Volt and then had that fact used to add to the dog pile, sometimes against their wishes.
Most notably I want to address Stormai, she was a child at the time and I know I said this in the video but I have to really emphasis it here, Stormai was a CHILD who didn’t know what they were doing. They never intended to out Volt, they did not know their actions would even be outing Volt. They were a kid who made a mistake with no malicious intent and they are not the bad guy of that story. The bad guy of that story were the blog moderators that used that situation at the time to demonise Volt and spew vile rhetoric about ‘you wouldn’t be killed only tortured’. If anyone came away with the idea Stormai was being cruel intentionally I am sorry, that was not my intent and if I gave people that impression I have failed. I’ll be addressing this further in part 2.
And of course if anyone else has an concerns about the coverage thus far or concerns for part 2 please let me know, my door is open and I’m always willing to hear you out.

I've just started watching the video BUT WHAT-
As a Malaysian, yes there isn't a death penalty for being gay. BUT, you could get imprisoned for up to 20 years. The "being tortured" part would be you getting canned [basically getting whipped] SEVERAL TIMES a day. I heard those who do get canning punishments would have it done on their private parts.
It's not bad, it's much.. much worse. Those kinds of punishments are brutal and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. My country desperately needs to progress past the need to punish lgbtq+ people who are just trying to live their lives, and I'm saying this as someone who's a part of the community. I wish to move out of the country once I'm able to because of that.
*For further context regarding Stormai outing Volt to their father:* Volt is from Malaysia. I believe around the Kuala Lumpur region, as I remember occasional posts about them living somewhat close to the Petronas Towers at the time.
Volt is arguably not exaggerating when they said that them being outed like that could get them outright killed. LGBT+ rights are non-existent in Malaysia. They have a criminal ban on s*d*my and the punishments include hefty fines, prison sentences of up to 20 years, and caning (where people are hit with a rattan cane multiple times resulting in welts and cuts). Muslim citizens may also additionally be convicted in a court under Sharia Law where they can receive capital punishment. Cases of violence and extrajudicial executions against LGBT+ Malaysians are tolerated by the government and the government actively promotes conversion therapy.
Just to give an even further idea on how bad it is to be LGBT+ in Malaysia, here are notable events that happened roughly around the time that Stormai outed Volt: In 2010 the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia decided to only allow depictions of homosexual characters as long as said characters, "repent," or die. In 2017 an LGBT+ pride march was cancelled due to Islamic pressures and threats. In 2018 two women were convicted due to birds and the bees stuff in a car, and they were caned in front of an audience.
Hell, in as recent as 2019 a gay bar in Kuala Lumpur was raided by police and officials, which resulted in many LGBT+ Malaysians getting beaten up and charged for s*d*my (which included caning in front of an audience). Stormai outing Volt like that was incredibly dangerous and entirely too many people were looking at the situation through an American and European lense.

I recall watching our Prime Minister encouraging and promoting conversion therapy LIVE. I heard it with my own ears, as it was a response to a feminist march that promoted lgbtq+ acceptance that took place sometime right before covid [I may be misremembering details, so take this with a grain of salt]. It was horrifying, especially as a closeted bisexual living with transphobic parents. One of our states even recently proposed a law that prohibits women from wearing "male clothing" due to the supposed rising of lesbians and "male-presenting females" [a rude way of saying trans-men, basically]. I can't believe our country is going backwards like this.

Issues that are important there like race, culture appropiation, feminism, polítics, religión, laws and stuff like that are shoved in videos like the world truth to everyone to shallow.
I am from Europe but I have known people from very different parts of the world. I and most of my country are very aware (you can always find stupid people everywhere, but most people o have interacted with have demostrated this kind of understanding) that we are not the center of the world and that other parts have different problems than us. Dude... Wtf... 1:05:00 As a person who grew up in Malaysia, do NOT EVER downplay the severity of the situation there. Yes, more support is appearing, especially in the younger generations, and yes, there are safe spaces there, but it is still extremely dangerous. Do you know what it's like having to grow up knowing that you cannot trust people? Knowing that even if someone seems trustworthy, they could turn around and strip you away from all your loved ones for 7 years and have you beaten? Do you know what it's like to be lashed so badly that you have deep, bloody wounds on your back? Do you know what it's like to grow up knowing that that is going to happen to your loved one if they are caught?
Because it doesn't matter how much the younger generations is more accepting, all it takes is one asshole to tell on you. This is even worse if you're Malay and therefore legally a Muslim. The Shariat law has the right to break into your home and forcefully arrest you based off of a simple rumour. They don't even need to issue an apology if the claim was false. What's worse is that the government has propped up this system as in favour of Malays instead of a detriment. This system of "justice" is one that is good for you, it cares about you, ignoring the fact that if you are caught not agreeing with it then you will be beaten into submission.
Seeing someone so carelessly brush away the seriousness of the problems with Malaysia just because the situation has mildly improved, despite the fact that there are still people fighting to incorporate the death penalty in again for things like sex outside marriage and being gay, is not only a slap in the face but outright disgustingly immoral.

Man, when I saw the title of this video my jaw _dropped._ Rebornica/Volt’s art was a _huge_ part of my early FNAF phase and their art was part of what got me into the fandom for the game. I had no idea any of this craziness happened - I stayed on the game side of the fandom for a while and forgot about them until now. This is honestly kind of sad.
It's kinda crazy how their art gave us flashbacks to our FNaF phase but I had never followed them too much but I remember seeing their art everywhere on Instagram.

@@probablybird3927 I wasn't involved, I was just following Volt on tumblr from 2014-2017 and pretty chronically online. But the incidents of manipulation and threatening self harm/suicide are absolutely true, as well as the fact that they were indeed very mentally ill despite what some may try to claim. Volt also had a habit of posting some pretty inflammatory stuff in the early hours and then deleting it soon after. (Unsurprising since they were a teenager with poor impulse control)
One personal incident I saw that wasn't shown in this video was the time Volt implied that their Night Terror version of Vincent with wings (night terror being like an in universe game/tv series in pilot, and this guy in particular also manifested as a hallucination for them and was like their friend) was going to manifest in the homes of those who upset them and it legitimately freaked some people out because they were all teenagers at the time and Volt ended up backpedaling the next day.
Basically as I understand it, Volt pissed a lot of people off as a severely mentally ill and shitty teenager (and adult so it seems) which inspired other mentally ill and shitty people to say and do absolutely horrible things to them in a horrific cycle for years at a time. I don't know a ton about the more serious allegations because as I got to the tail end of high school, I thought the situation was more trouble than it was worth and bailed.

I also vividly remember being told by a friend in high school to check the updates on volt bc that was the day they were outed to their father. It was a crazy ride that was going on around the same time as sonic for real justice so tumblr had a LOT of things going on at the same time to talk about.
It’s stuff like this that makes me glad that I’m an old man that wasn’t a kid during this time period. Just reading Volt’s lines gave me an idea of this nonsense, and I was infuriated.

i hate to be mean to the people who composed this doc, but the whole art theft segment was especially braindead. its almost as if children who spend lots of time in the same spaces consuming the same media, WORKING TOGETHER to make characters, and sharing storylines therein making themselves even more involved with each other- are going to have similar character designs. like i could arguably find the same amount of shared design elements between artman and countdown as hacker and countdown- its almost as if making a menagerie of android/mecha characters are going to look similar. and you can tell theyre drawing inspo from a mutual source/each other because their styles are similar too.
the obtuseness of the art situation in particular is also mind-boggling. are these people telling me a handful of youtubers making a video essay merely retconning a situation are able to find the inspirations for the "copied" characters but the people making the doc didnt bother to do that first before presenting it as supposedly hard evidence? it just seems very disingenuous.

I have one issue with this video, and that’s that it felt like the person voicing Volt tried to make them sound whiny. I liked that other VAs in the video just read the messages. I just have a bit of an issue with this because it was difficult to focus on the actual message and it changed the tone

Yes DID/OSDD doesn’t form after the age of 10- but most people don’t even know/get diagnosed until later in life. Some people not even knowing unless it’s a extreme case of the disorders.
Every system is different and that’s with any disorder. Like how one autistic person will be extremely nonverbal and another one will be completely verbal.
I’m not going to say I’m a psychologist or a mental health professional. But I do have the common fucking sense to not assume I know everything about a person.
Volt even SAID they were misdiagnosed. Do you KNOW how hard it is to get a right diagnosis is for schizophrenia , DID/OSDD, or even fucking BPD??? Not to mention it’s expensive, you also will probably not have enough time with the doctor for them to get all the information they need. It all depends on the doctor. It also depends on if the doctor is biased, religious, other factors. Because surprise surprise! Doctors can be wrong or assholes.
So yeah. Fuck people who just “claim” they know someone’s faking a disorder. Yeah the person might be faking, but you don’t have the fucking right to point that shit out unless the PERSON admits to faking it. You are NOT a doctor.
Also, they use the term "classic autism" (which isn't a thing, nor are any functioning labels ever appropriate to describe someone else) and call it a mental illness. I'm honestly surprised people that are supposedly "studying psychology" don't know that it's unethical (and possibly illegal but don't quote me on that) to diagnose someone over the internet. I thought that's one of the first things they teach you: don't diagnose strangers, people you've never met in person or haven't spoken to personally. Any professional or student would probably get barred from the practice for doing that. Then again, these people could be lying or think a quick google search for the webmd page counts as "studying psychology." ugh.
You're so right about this!! I'm taking two psych courses in uni (psychology and gender, as well as clinical psychology) and our first part of the course was completely breaking down the stereotype that everyone with a single mental disorder acts the same/has the same symptoms. And even at that, we have an extremely rudimentary understanding on mental disorders and abnormalities in the first place that people genuinely have a lot of trouble diagnosing/recognizing even in the more solid disorders we have knowledge of.
Also its painfully obvious that some people are going "well actually I study psychology" and looked at the list of symptoms on google without going into the nuances of the disorder/diagnosis or talking to someone who is diagnosed with the disorder.
Final note as well - Thank you for pointing out doctors can be wrong. A lot of psychologists I've met have been bigoted, biased, and for my own personal diagnoses (ADHD, autism, and C-PTSD) I struggled a lot - not because I don't have them, but I don't fit the stereotypes of someone who has those disorders (I'm assigned female at birth, i have inattentive-type adhd, my C-PTSD isn't from war, etc etc)
To be 100% fair about the age thing, that's highly debated anyways and from what I found online it's also possible to present with symptoms later in live even if you developed the condition at a young age.

When you sent me that list of things you were having to go over for this video I was mentally preparing myself for another part of my childhood to be ground up into a fine powder and served to me on a gold platter to cry about. I feel like the establishment that Volt has several mental illnesses and neurodivergencies really does drive home alot of this mad house bullshit- like, Volt's paranoia when it comes to friends talking about them could very much be driven by schizoaffective disorders and/or bpd. It seems from an outside persoective very unnecessary, but as an effect of mental distress, paranoia, and delusions- it makes sense
As someone who has worked in psychology for 16 years, there are few things more aggravating to me than seeing some teenager /early twenty-something diagnosing people or claiming that a stated diagnosis is wrong/a lie based on a google search or their unfinished college education.
I'd love to see some of these first year psych majors tell any of their professors that they've been diagnosing people online. That'd go over great.
No legit psych professional is going to diagnose someone based on their Tumblr posts or whatever. That is shady as hell.

I have no idea who any of the people are in this drama, but whoever VO'd for Volts made it incredibly hard to understand what was being said. You cant use the same whiny inflection for every scenerio. The dissonance in some of the things written and what was being said just made it confusing. I ended up just skipping or pausing and reading things myself. If you're going to give an intentional tone at least make it match the author or the narrative being expressed

So I'm not even 10 minutes in but I _do_ wanna give a bit of info on misdiagnosing for those just curious.
If I remember correctly, Volt is not from Europe or America, so thus, their psychological treatment options may differ significantly. Hell, one can say even treatment between Canada and America can be different. Another thing is, sadly, misdiagnosis is a common plague in the psychologist's profession. That isn't even due to "bad doctor" or "patient lying." Our understanding of neurodiversity continues to this day. To use myself as an example, as a child in the 90s, I was diagnosed with a "mild form of ADD." In the 2010s as an adult, I was rediagnosed with ADHD (the proper term for the ADHD spectrum) in the cluster C/mixed category. That's just a little over 10 years. TEN, and so much has already changed.
Anyways, nothing to do with Volt really, but I did wanna offer this point because this is a passion of mine and one I feel can sometimes slip past other people's awareness.

God seeing their name was a huge kick in the face. It never fails to make me remember all the shitstorm that happened during 2014 until late 2018 somewhere, I was only in the sidelines. Volt was, during my 2014 FNAF era was a huge inspiration to me and I followed them and wanted to be like them, noticed by them etc. Little did I know I subconsciously inherited one of their internet habits of venting online (don't really do it anymore, only in private) and a few years down the line after witnessing the horrendous amount of drama and abuse that I heard I tried to stop following them entirely atp,, it made me wonder in the long run how much sadness and disappointment I felt that I followed someone like them and the constant intrusive thoughts of "what if" that I might end up like them or what if I turned out to be a horrible person bcs I followed someone that I genuinely admired, followed and was letdown all this time y'know? I guess it's the feeling of betrayal that someone you used to look up to for quite a long while ended up being not a good person back then after every single call-out I've seen of them and, yeah, it never fails to scare/terrify me that I might end up being like them and tried my hardest to never want to think about this person ever again. It honestly made me rethink of my old actions during my mid-teens also and wondered if there'll still be people out there that might call me out on actions I've never once meant to happen or the such.
For once I'll admit I'm glad I kinda ended up becoming a private person with less friends and is open to criticism overall. And for all I know, I've moved on from them and I'm never going to follow them again, not after everything I've heard and witnessed. I hope all the victims are doing alright now and got the help they needed.

Honestly, thank you for making this video. Volt, or Bones as I knew them, was a friend/acquaintance of mine, and I remember having to watch them go through years of drama and abuse. They were by no means a flawless individual and I do remember them acting out, but something people like to forget is that they were a literal child. Sadly after the drama resurfaced roughly three or four years ago they panicked and nuked the discord server I was in, but I always figured it was best to let them keep to their group of close friends and wish them the best. It still kills me when I hear about people slinging mud their way.
A 4 hour vid, with new ponder and Mali content, talking about fnaf drama… this is either going to be great drawing audio, or a horrific time where I question why my head is not currently jammed through the nearest wall.

Rebornica was a massive inspiration to me as a...10 year old back in 2015, they're the person who really got me into fandom and drawing my own characters, this is gonna be a good one.
i remember rebornica, i was a fan of their work for a while and wondered why they suddenly left the internet. not gonna lie... the art theft part of the video made me lose so many brain cells. the amount of times I've seen people claim "character theft" over a character having similar colors and patterns is just ridiculous, people need to understand that they don't own a color palette, a pose, markings, ect.
also, holy shit the outing scandal, why the fuck would stormai do such a thing!? even if you think they live in a country that's somewhat LGBT friendly you STILL don't out someone just in case their family isn't welcoming to anyone who's LGBTQ. and the way people twisted their words to make them the bad guy... after being outed... while living in a situation that is dangerous for people in the LGBT community... i just can't...

I guess like a grown ass adult

This really makes me so so sad. I had loved their FNAF AU but beyond that I loved their Pilot webcomic so so much. It was one of my special interests for years. Some of which, such as the characters Mahogany, Vendetta, and so so many more are comfort characters of mine tainted by their creator. I no longer support them, but I’m so sad that anther talented artist ended up so bad.

I grew up with Rebornica. I loved their art style and wanted mine to be like theirs, they were my biggest inspiration for so long. For years I would attend all their live streams and try to be as active as possible with them - even trying to reach out to them multiple times for various reasons, I bought merch from them, drew fan art, they had a huge impact on me. To say they helped shape me as an artist in general is an understatement. I'm thankful tho that I didn't get too close. Their story is one filled with genuine depression and I'm still sometimes sad for the hurt they experienced/the pain inflicted on others due to their own. I feel for anyone who was directly involved or impacted. I watched in real time the "downfall" if that's what people would like to refer to it as. It's crazy seeing people talking about it, it feels so long ago yet not too distant at all. I hope the best for everyone regardless tho. It's again very sad.. ALSO FUCK YEAH PONDER!! LET'S GOOOO!!

Haven’t seen the full video yet but I feel the need to state this in case it isn’t mentioned. A recent development was rebornica (or someone posing as them) attempting to claim that fuboo (another previous FNAF artist who was recently under fire for being a groomer and allowing her husband to rape an individual under the influence.) had groomed them as well. I’m unsure of the validity of Rebornicas claim but the original victim who came out against fuboo had taken care of it legally and now has a restraining order against Fuboo and her husband.
I saw someone in the comments of that call out post who claimed to be rebs friend talk about that, but since everything was deleted and they wanted to move on, I guess we wont really know much. Though considering what fuboo has been accused of it wouldn’t surprise me.

I always thought that one phase about hating witches was less about witches and more surrounding the drama of it being a jab at an ex-friend who was just really into witch characters and had a witch-sona. That being said, I remember I stopped being an observer of that fandom when it just got too toxic and tiring to keep up with all the day by day changes quite a bit earlier than that drama (compared to stuff like games, creator fandoms sometimes tread a little too close to personality cults and the rebornica fans ran pretty close to a cult of personality at times).
Man this brings me back, and I always loved that take on purple guy but as an adult looking back I just really enjoy some of the design tropes like the simple shape eyes on that design more than the character itself.

Rebornica was my first artist inspo, and had influenced me creating my own characters, as well as FNAF being my furst fandom. I remember how Jeremike, The Purple Toast guy, Fritz and Phone Guy with a phone head were really popular, I still have some fanart of them in old sketchbooks from 2014. They got me into fandoms as a whole and began that love of (certain parts) or fandoms. Then they made a "orginal" comic, starting stealing art and claiming art and characters as their own, and all this drama started coming about. It got really scary, and eventually I got into the Portal 2 and BATIM fandoms and forgot about Rebornica until now.
It taught me the kind of person with my creations NOT to become. 😅💙

Unrelated but, Fun Fact about Rebornica's Vincent:
In 2018-2019, People in the Gacha Community started to put Vincent in their AUs in a very annoying way.
Gacha Vincent (or Scapegoat as I like to call em) was always portrayed as William's dead brother, Glitchtrap and the true killer of the missing children, controlling William's mind.
As AUs started to become more and more "Canon", People soon dropped Vincent from their AUs.
Tbh that was more 2020-2021 and wow that section of fandom was brutal. As someone who created videos of that (as seen on my channel) the viewers' likes and canons were ever-changing. I'm also fairly sure most of us didn't know who Volt was and went with a new scapegoat because people kept getting mad at current AUs. I could go on a whole tyraid about this but I don't think people would want to read that.
I'm still only 15-20 minutes in and omfg, these people need to sit down and take a chill pill. As a psychology student, I think it so scummy that someone accuse others people that they faked to have a mental illness without even knowing them personally. Look, mental illness is not that simple. It's extremely complicated.
To be diagnosed, usually you'll have go through many sessions with a psychiatrist. Even then, there're many factors that go into a diagnosis. Financial, doctor biases and hell, even the patient themselves(either they not really in their right mind to tell the psychiatrist, their description could be a bit too complicated and not clear, or they simply do not trust you enough to tell you the full story and hide many details, I know I did that when I talk with a psychiatrist). Even if you didn't have those problems, misdiagnose is still gonna happen, considering the symtoms of the illnesses overlap with each other. So please, unless you're a doctor and have worked with them directly for multiple sessions, please just shut up and stop acuse others for faking mental illness.
Everytime I see a drama like this I find myself thankful that I was too much if a chicken and too shy to really post content or interact much online as a kid.

This situation is a lot. I'm glad I wasn't aware of the fnaf scene a lot during this time. I was quite young at the time. To me, it seems like a lot of mentally ill teens / young adults gaslighting and hurting eachother. I hope everyone in this situation has grown past this behaviour and has gotten the help they need. People change and we should support growth past shitty actions.

That honestly doesn't surprise me, tumblr has a lot of mentally ill people in its userbase, some good and some bad. And the bad tends to cause a LOT of problems. Pretty much everybody involved in the drama is an ass and that doesn't surprise me either. I've witness SO much petty nonsense on tumblr over the years.

In the segment of "you have to post everything about your OCs because they are my special interest and if you don't I'll have a meltdown!" NO. NO. STRAIGHT UP DOWNRIGHT *NO.* As someone with autism, which one of my strongest symptoms is having strong special interests, I have to say- you CANNOT use that as an excuse to treat someone else's creation like you are entitled to it. My special interest is my OWN OCs, so in a way I know exactly what it feels like on both ends, and out of the two I believe that someone should have the right to keep information about their own OCs private even if it may affect someone with autism. Because while we cannot help having autism, we are still responsible for managing our own disorder.

I remember when i first saw it and was deeply confused with the tumblr page that was using Volt's old name to keep up hate and misinformation. I still don't fully sure how i feel about Volt themself since The FNAF AU was a huuuge art inspiration when i was 15-16. But thank you for helping make this more understandable and easier to digest.

I was an active member in the Fnaf community and had interactions with Rebornica as my group was decently popular in the ship community (I was 12 hush). It's crazy how much happened during this time
Yeah, Tumblr kids were very interesting individuals. I was using it since 2012/2013- the demise. Once tumblr went down and they flooded Twitter, so much toxicity entered that place when it was pretty much a space mostly for celebs. They've taken the harmful mentalities as children, due to the echo chamber they're living in, to their adult lives thinking the behavior is valid when it's not. It's pathetic and really sad to witness.
From some of the posts I've seen on Tumblr, some of those types of accounts and people are still there

I also remember a small small amount of drama from back when they were in the FNaF fandom, but I was probably too young to be deep into it.
As a Splatoon gamer the ages of the characters are technically not mentioned and are up to the players interpretation. They gain the ability to switch between forms and look fully human around 14 which people run with to make EVERY character that age. My own characters both original and agents are not kids and in their 20s. It doesn't help that yeah people love drawing porn of them like their 14 and in terms of size they're also canonly the size of a cat but the characters also have grown up with the games (I wouldn't even say splat3 is child coded when compared to the first two) but It's def messy but absolutely stupid to assume someone's Splatoon OC is below 18 because ADULTS DO EXIST in the universe of the world (some of them being literally over 100+ years old)

However, browsing things like shota/loli and creating it is 100% illegal in the United States and many other places like the UK. (If you'd like to research this, the exact code for the United States explaining this law is USC1466A.)
