Mark is finally getting the love, respect, recognition and accolades he's always deserved. Mark's schedule is getting busier and Don's is dwindling. Don and Mel aren't worthy enough to untie Mark Farner's shoes. I wish you long life, happiness and God's continued favor Mark💗💗💗💗💗💗
On the way back from Vietnam, Navy. On our on board ships " radio station " I'm Your Captain " . And you could just about hear everyone singing " I'm getting closer to my home ". I wasn't even 19 years old yet. Went in at 17. Thanks Mark !
Dan Johnson If you were burning black oil we might have refueled you. Even if you weren't using oil I'm guessing we sent you over AV-Gas. Kansas City, 73 Wespac here also.
I was 16 driving home from the ohio state fair, closer to home playing on a 8 track cassette, 1964 cutlass convertible, that song has been playing in my head ever since, shook Mark's hand in lawrenceburg INDIANA, life is good.
Thanks Mark!! You’re the captain! I met you when you first started out in Oklahoma City. Front and center! You gave me a pick after playing inside looking out and the tip had been worn off! Never missed one of your concerts! They have these young people doing reactions to older songs. They completely freaked out! They had to stop the video when you pulled the harmonica out after already playing so long! They all love you!
I interviewed Mark in Austin, Texas in 1987 when he was going through his bullshit with Mel and Don and it was a sore spot with him. Yeppers, Mark IS Grand Funk. Without Mark, there is no Grand Funk Railroad. He's a good man and great musician.
GENIUS SONGWRITER,GENIUS GUITARIST,GENIUS VOCALIST,AMAZING ROCKER,YOUR FANS LOVE YOU,AND YOU HAVE ENTERTAINED US FOR YEARS,LIKE NO OTHER,GOD BLESS YOU MARK,THANKS
I love Mark Farner so much. I remember the night he was on Coast To Coast AM and I had the number on speed dial. The Art (Bell) announced that Mark wasn't going to be taking calls that night and I literally cried myself to sleep. Next to George Harrison, Mark Farner is the reason I play guitar.
One of the absolute finest rockers this world has ever produced. Great guitar playing and vocals. A genuine musicians. Thanks for all you've ever created Mark Farner.
I live on Long Island, NY. I called the local rock station and asked them to play Peter Frampton's 'Lines On My Face'. The guy who answered told me, "I'll be honest with you. We're not going to play that song. It's not on our list." And THAT is the problem with the way radio stations operate today.
I got to see him perform live a few years ago for free! On a whim, caught an announcement less than 2 hours before the show started. Called my mom, hopped across the river into IL and caught the last 6 songs or so. So great that I got to see and hear him in action. Only caught part of the show, but that was definitely one of the coolest music highlights in my life as a 35 yr old classic rock guitarist and enthusiast.
An honest interview with genuine enthusiasm by the dj interviewer (sorry missed your name). Well done. Grand Funk should be in the Hall of Fame. Mark, you're an inspiration. God bless you & you're family.
Mark, you are the real deal. God bless you. You know what is real. Someday we will all get there. It is a family of man. We are all on the path. The only difference is those who know they are on the path and those who don't. Your songs told me you were there before you realized it.
I'm from Michigan. I agree... Mark *IS* GFR! I saw him a few summers ago at Royal Oak's "Arts, Beats and Eats. He was amazing. Love you Mark! Thanks for all the great music 🎸🎶❤
I listen to all different kinds of music and when am in the mood for classic rock Grand Funk Railroad is the first to mind. Something very special about this group that stands out for me. After watching this video of Mark talking now I know why. ✌
Don and Mel are back stabbers period. Mark is Grand Funk Railroad like Jim Morrison is the Doors. It's a crying same his own two friends would do that to him.
I grew -up in FLINT , Mi. Grand Funk Railroad I learned guitar by playing to The " RED " GFR album , my favorite album . The song "inside looking out " is great heavy rock . My next favorite , Closer to home is BRILLIANT ! Mark is how I remember most Michigan folks behave when I was growing up . He is honest and truthful . About the fans not the money . He loves God and is a true HUMAN BEING . Love you Mark .
The man, other than my own father, who influenced my life most. I can only love the man I have never met!! God bless Mark and his family always. A true American.
I am a die hard Grand Funk fan but would not want to go see Grand Funk without Mark Farner. That to me is like going to see Creedence Clearwater Revival without John Fogerty.
Huge fan of Mark Farner as a singer, songwriter, musician and a gentle soul. Still listening to the early GFR albums, and loving the music they created together. P.S. He's right about the Telecommunications Act of '96. I was in radio at the time, and the veteran radio people told me: "Enjoy your years here, young man...this is all going away". Sadly, he was right.
a truly good sincere man. In his prime (with the original GFR power trio). Mark Farner was a penultimate rock god, a powerful force of nature. 50 years later, their work of that early era and the band and music are STILL my favorite. Its really tragic that Donnie and Mel have evolved into who they are now. Those two fucked up.
Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad. Then comes the toilet paper aka don brewer the sewer & mel jell-o boy. They know who's the master & they're sick with envy. Mark, you don't need them nor we neither.
I saw the so Called Grand Funk twice. Good but the same. I saw Mark Farner yesterday in Milwaukee. Way better. If you have a choice, See Mark. Still wish they could they could put it together again while they're breathing.
Mark farner: the greatest rock song writer and musician America will ever see. In the Lords way , I'm glad mark got hurt playing football for the greatest music in history would never have been heard. John3:16. Revelation 21:4. S.m.lockridge.
i was 20 yr old and i was playing in a night club back in 1978, also i was in payroll, suddenly i was sick and i took 2 weeks off ,after 2 weeks i went in the night club's owner house i spoke with her about medical insurance discount from my payroll weekly check, and i asked her for the the papers to go to the hospital, she gave me a" blank paper" she said to me" sign that paper"i asked her "why"? is in blank , she replayed ,"i will filled up later for your hospital appointment later on..i told my father , my father said to me ""dont you ever sign a blank paper" who knows if you are signing your Death sentence""
I didn't know the American Band album only had 100,000 gold pressings. I have one of them ... but it has a little scratch and the needle must be weighted with an old block pink eraser to play through.
Money is the root of all evil. What a scumbag his bandmate who swindled him is. Someday karma will kick him like a mule when he least expects it. Peace to Mark Farner. You're still the captain of your ship.
He doesn't need them. I'm sure he can get musicians if not good but better to play with. He sang 95 percent of the material and wrote most of the songs. You go see them as long as Mark is alive and the front man you will completely satisfy your GFR need.
Grand Funk NOT in the R&R Hall of Fame?? There is no excuse for this infamy...Mark suffered the loss of his son but now is drug free and a religious man. Glad for his brave persona!!
Of all the obvious qualities of Mark, he is the definition of a mesomorph (naturally, lean and muscular). Man, Mark's energy is exactly the same as the same as it's ever been. @Don Brewer? Eat it. Your selflessness ruined it for a massive legion of fans. Without Mark, you would be playing late-night side gigs with a cover bands 100% for sure. Oh, and would have had to take a day gig in an office. I'm just so happy that Mark, monetarily, won, and with the peace of his spirituality.
OH YEAH,DON AND MEL,YOUR SUCCESS IF YOU HAD ANY, IS SMOKE AND MIRRORS,MARK IS THE TALENT,ANYONE WHO GOES TO A GRAND FUNK PHONY SHOW NOW ,YOU SHOULD ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK,IT WAS WASTED
there's another reason "they" don't want to reconcile and reunite, i would require a restructuring of the contract that cut mark out in the first place. ironic that (never heard brewer's side) that after terry knight would rip the band off, steal the copywrites of their first 6 albums, they would to it to themselves. idk... mark farner is grand funk railroad, but i can't deal with his proselytizing, maybe don and mel got sick of listening to it, i know i would.
A friend's wonderful son Louie broke his neck in a roll over crash 12 years ago. Hes a quad also. Sweetest kid...he was 16 when it happened. Just won tickets to GFR on 95.9 the Krush fm and will invite his Mom. Graton Casino Rohnert park show may 25 . will be thinking of Mark and his son! Hes 100% right about our violence! A new president will turn us around! p.s. if hes not murdered !ike his Dad and Uncle John.....
Until I hear BOTH sides of the story...I will withhold judgement on what actually happened between them. Other than the song writing...which was huge...GFR would never have been what it was without Don Brewer.
Great rocker, no doubt. Wove his way into the fabric of our life. Wears that big cross and trashes his exbandmates every chance he gets while lying to Jesus that he holds no grudges. Typical Fundie Believer. Bad show Mark, bad show.
I saw your name a lot on MF American Band Facebook. We'll keep the REAL GFR alive with only Mark, - who was and is GFR.

I still have my vinyl copy of Closer to Home from then. Thanx agin, Mark...

Mark is a good man and a brother and friend. God Bless Mark Farner
This Band should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Period,,,
RRHOF don't deserve them!
Mark Farmer is a class act!
Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad
I interviewed Mark in Austin, Texas in 1987 when he was going through his bullshit with Mel and Don and it was a sore spot with him. Yeppers, Mark IS Grand Funk. Without Mark, there is no Grand Funk Railroad. He's a good man and great musician.
Mark is an amazing human, singer, guitarist, songwriter, showman, farmer, and family man. I feel blessed every time I hear his voice.
GENIUS SONGWRITER,GENIUS GUITARIST,GENIUS VOCALIST,AMAZING ROCKER,YOUR FANS LOVE YOU,AND YOU HAVE ENTERTAINED US FOR YEARS,LIKE NO OTHER,GOD BLESS YOU MARK,THANKS

What an absolute gentleman and humble! A real talent!
Nice to see a man (Farner) with a great attitude. He’s genuinely happy.

Grand Funk was built on the foundation of Mark Farner's songs.
A great human being . He is Grand Funk Railroad without question .
OLE57,HE'S TOO MUCH MAN,HIS TALENTS AMAZE,i'm mad at don and mel for not being considerate of their fans, damn fools, time waits for no one

Great guy. Everyone knows Farner is GFR. He has a great attitude.
Mark Farner you inspired me to be a full time musician for 40 years.
Your voice, songs and guitar are the sound of Grand Funk.
God bless you.
An honest interview with genuine enthusiasm by the dj interviewer (sorry missed your name). Well done. Grand Funk should be in the Hall of Fame. Mark, you're an inspiration. God bless you & you're family.
God bless Mark Farner he has the biggest heart & for his gift of the greatest rock songs with or without GFR.......
Mark, God Bless you ............. your reward is in heaven, for you are rich beyond understanding because you are a child of God.
Mark, you are the real deal. God bless you. You know what is real. Someday we will all get there. It is a family of man. We are all on the path. The only difference is those who know they are on the path and those who don't. Your songs told me you were there before you realized it.
I'm glad he said theres a dumbing down going on. Mark is an inspiration and a very wise man.
Being from Detroit, we ALL know Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad!
I'm from Michigan. I agree... Mark *IS* GFR! I saw him a few summers ago at Royal Oak's "Arts, Beats and Eats. He was amazing. Love you Mark! Thanks for all the great music 🎸🎶❤

Mark is a great musician and personality!
How can Don and Mel kick out the most respectable, friendly and talented guy in the band?? It's incredible!
Geo B. Greed, just like Terry Knight, scumbags
Don and Mel are back stabbers period. Mark is Grand Funk Railroad like Jim Morrison is the Doors. It's a crying same his own two friends would do that to him.

Grand Funk without Mark Farner can never be The Grand Funk Railroad of renown ! Mark Farnham is a sweet & classy man!
I'd like to see them all back together and bring it all back onstage.
Mark Farner is talking and a lady in the front row is sitting there knitting. Unreal
Bahaha very surreal
She was trying to finish knitting a scarf for Mark to give to him that day.
She's his age! Plus there's only 15- 20 people there anyway...just chilling.
That's what I call a knitwit!
@@homoerectussemenallyretent6638 and yet, he is performing the interview as if they are his friends. True gentleman.
Mark Farner is the real-deal. Down to Earth human-being. Killer musician and performer. Love him.
Mark Farner just an amazing musician .....
I am a die hard Grand Funk fan but would not want to go see Grand Funk without Mark Farner. That to me is like going to see Creedence Clearwater Revival without John Fogerty.
KirkSH52 How can you compare Creedence to Grand Funk? How about seeing the Beatles with out John Lennon? Credence?, c’ mon.
I saw creedence without John, it sucked!!!!!!
Mark is so right. God bless Mark Farner.
Man he's looking good at 70 !
Wish I could have brought US to fill the audience! People need to LISTEN to this man!
Huge fan of Mark Farner as a singer, songwriter, musician and a gentle soul. Still listening to the early GFR albums, and loving the music they created together.

Just caught him at St. Augustine, FL Saturday night...at 72, not missing a beat!
He's so on spot about the tv, am and FM stations.
What an all-around nice guy! Too bad his band mates screwed him over. Karma, is all I can say!
I bought one of the gold We're An American Band albums when it first came out.
What - maybe ten people in the audience? WTF? It's Mark Farner everybody!!
Mark is such a great person. A real inspiration. He doesn't have to mention "Grand Funk" in his appearances. We all know he IS Grand Funk.
Don can't be trusted....maybe Mel might come around eventually, but he's been working for Don for a long time now.
Love Mark.
Got to say, the kid did a great interview.

I always liked Mark Farmer and Grand Funk Railroad. I wish Don Brewer and Mark Farmer would work it out.
Supper Guy !
I feel so bad that Mark got screwed over by his band mates. What a corrupt couple of Jaggs to ban Farner from even using GFR in any promo!!!
Money is the root of all evil. What a scumbag his bandmate who swindled him is. Someday karma will kick him like a mule when he least expects it. Peace to Mark Farner. You're still the captain of your ship.

Mark Farner looks like Ben Franklin with the glasses ..they have one thing in common - SMART!
It ain’t the Funk without the Farner.
All the ladies knitting were front row back in the day.
Why isn't Grand Funk in the R&RHOF ? It's a crying shame that they aren't !
there's another reason "they" don't want to reconcile and reunite, i would require a restructuring of the contract that cut mark out in the first place. ironic that (never heard brewer's side) that after terry knight would rip the band off, steal the copywrites of their first 6 albums, they would to it to themselves. idk... mark farner is grand funk railroad, but i can't deal with his proselytizing, maybe don and mel got sick of listening to it, i know i would.
GFR = Grand Farner Railroad. Keep it real; accept no substitutes.
Mark to GFR is like Alvin Lee to TYA. Just don't work without them.
Put the cellphones away!!!
A friend's wonderful son Louie broke his neck in a roll over crash 12 years ago. Hes a quad also. Sweetest kid...he was 16 when it happened.

Poor Jimi...no idea he did coke and heroin amazing he didnt die sooner.
WTF? A woman is knitting during this? She couldn't wait until she got home? Sheesh.
How can Don and Mel sleep at night. The real fans know the truth.
Until I hear BOTH sides of the story...I will withhold judgement on what actually happened between them.
Other than the song writing...which was huge...GFR would never have been what it was without Don Brewer.
3 SOME..MARK....BLOWER....TED NUDE GENT AND KID CANT ROCK
With out Mark Farner , there is no Funk, every fan knows that ,
I have ZERO respect for Don Brewer and Mel Shifty!!!

Mark Farner is GFR ! Without him GFR is just another boring cover band.
Without Mark Farner you are left with "Gd un ilroad"
