I think AVALANCHE needed some ground type power effects. Hasbro should've gave him the rock effects from Hulk.
The Toybiz one had something like that.
Yup complete missed opportunity to reuse the ground effect from the 20th anniversary Hulk.
That would have been a good inclusion. Total missed opportunity. That being said, I don't use that effect with Hulk so at least you have me the idea to use it with Avalanche
Yeah would've been great but Hasbro doing anything for customers with Legends, but the bare minimum is nil.
Agree too bad Hasbro miss it. And also the face is not fit with Avalanche. He should looks angry

I totally agree. I dislike those blank emotionless faces, even more when there's just one head.
They could have perhaps had him be the same size as Cable or Bishop. We haven't had this guy since the days of Toybiz X-Men Classics so he was definitely overdue. This version is also more accurate than the previous one. This figure is one of those where it may not be that exciting as an actual figure but at the same time, you can't really pass him up if you collect the Marvel Legends X-Men, particularly if you grew up in the 90's. I think the fact that Hasbro were actually releasing this character was more exciting than the figure itself. I guess you could put that down to Avalanche not having one of the more exciting character designs. Back in the 90's when I watched the X-Men cartoon, I almost saw this guy as a more underwhelming version of Juggernaut but he's still in it enough to be considered an important character. He and Pyro were almost like a double act so you can't really have one without the other. I think they were portrayed as a bit of a joke but having said that, I think that Pyro had one of the best character designs in the show. I'm a big fan of the Pyro figure that you stood this guy next to, which is the latest one of him. The Toybiz version looked like a bug. The Toybiz version of Avalanche was not too bad tbf, but he just wasn't as accurate. He didn't really have the classic Avalanche look. It reminded me more of Vinnie Jones. I know that Vinnie played Juggernaut but Toybiz Avalanche had a headsculpt that put me in mind of Vinnie Jones and also looked more like it was from a movie than a comic. This one looks more like it's from a comic and more like the actual character. It's similar to the animated version but I think the colours were slightly different in that show, more like grey and white than blue and silver but that could have been due to the cel animation. Sometimes the transfer to TV makes the colours appear a little different. The intention may have been blue and silver which are the classic colours. Also, I think grey and white were supposedly meant to represent silver in cartoons sometimes, like if there is a noticeable shine. Sometimes blue or even a teal green can look grey when you watch a cartoon that used cel animation on TV, VHS or DVD. I think Avalanche may also have been a little bulkier in the 90's animated show.
X-Men Classics line came out after Toybiz ML started. He was one of the last villains of that line.
I agree he needs an "A" on his belt at least. You'd have thought they'd have given him the same power effects as Rictor at least, no?
Solid video with one correction: Toy Biz Avalanche came out in 2006 and does not pre-date the original Marvel Legends line. Anyways, keep up the great work!
This looks okay, but he's not as cool as Spiral, which Hasbro nailed. This Avalanche figure is a little small in terms of body. If his shoulder armor was a little bulkier, that would help. His eyes are okay, but he sure has a pretty mouth! lol. Seriously speaking, Hasbro needs to tone down the lip coloring on the male figures. It's getting a bit crazy. I don't mind some color on men's lips, but much like with Scorpion and the 20th Anniversary Hulk, this lip color is just too dark and saturated. It is bordering on lipstick. Clearly Hasbro doesn't have it quite dialed-in with the print technology they're using. The blue elements of the costume here is a bit on the purple side. I've always seen him done up with a truer blue color in the comic books, so this seems a little off. I'm not sure why Hasbro doesn't just pick one costume of the other? I mean, happy medium really isn't accurate to any known design. Right? It's neither here nor there, isn't it? I'd prefer Hasbro to just pick one design (preferably the classic "A" version). This is at least a better offering than the "retro" Falcon, which was not at all the classic Falcon design that I know of. That one was baffling.
I guess that this, the first Avalanche that we get in 6" isn't horrible. It's far from that. It's just a weaker effort when you compare it with figures like the new Spiral, which Hasbro absolutely knocked out the park. Hasbo's consistency in terms of quality and execution seems all over the place. If they're going to cut corners on the figure design (paint apps, body reuse, etc), they should at least try to do something more on-model to the comics. I don't think that is too much to ask.
I know what you mean about the blue and the lipstick. This guy is hardly going to strike fear into the hearts of others.
The Toybiz Avalanche didn't predate Marvel Legends. It was released in the X-Men line in 2006 but they went with an original concept that no one really wanted.
Avalanche is one of those character that I don't have a set image for. The figure looks good enough to hit the spot on my shelf.
I agree that he needed some kind of “A” on his costume. He and Apocalypse are both known for that haha. While I do wish he was slightly larger, I’m excited for this figure. I still have my old X-Men classics figure and I’ve been hanging onto that version for a long time hoping we’d see a more classic upgrade, and now we’re finally there. Great review!
Everyone is talking Brotherhood, but no one is talking Freedom Force. Gonna need a Destiny, Stonewall, Super Sabre and Crimson Commando.
The X-men Big 3 or Trinity are not Cyclops, Wolverine and Jean. It’s Cyclops, Wolverine, and Storm! Some people for some odd reason don’t like to admit and again idk why but Storm was a way more prominent member of the X-men than Jean was! Storm actually led the team for a good while when Cyclops was away. She led the Morlocks, she just recently beat Vulcan in a fight which is freaking amazing! But if you ask people who really know X-men who’re the Big 3 or Trinity for the X-men and majority of people will say Cyke, Logan, and Storm. Storm was even the leader of Arakko for a time! And for those that don’t know Arakko is in another dimension I can’t remember where at exactly though. But I believe that Arakko returned to earth because Arakko was the other half of Krakoa. But Storm was the leader of Arakko but to live on Arakko you could only be an Omega level mutant. And it was about 1,000,000 mutants living there and at one point Storm was the ruler the Queen of one million Omega level mutants, so just think about that. And again she beat Vulcan who’s almost beyond Omega level! I can’t remember if she killed him or someone else did but he was killed. But the mutants can be resurrected due to the Five. But still though. Lol

i plan to put Avalanche with my current evil mutants which are currently the recent Sabretooth, retro card Scarlet Witch, pyro from the 2 pack ($17 on clearance) & currently waiting for Toad to go on clearance . All i need is a Green suited quicksilver, a new Magneto ,and the Blob. Im debating on wether I should get the VHS mystique , your legs were looking pretty bent . and i need a juggernaut :/
I may not collect all the whole Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to go with Magneto, But to me, It's great to get Avalanche because he was way overdue and since I don't have him in hand, I will try to get Bonebreaker wave FA Sabretooth, 20th anniversary Toad, and Avalanche for my X-MEN villains shelf, Awesome review Dan.
Seems short and should of came with special effects some kind of waves and a screaming face

I did find A XMC Avalanche in 2006, but never opened him. He’s buried in a box in the store room. 🤷♂️
I'm happy to have a version of Avalanche as the Brother Hood is a team I'm eager to add to. My experience with xmen is mostly the 90s cartoon and the arcade game so this is a must for me.
I can't wait for Blob. I wasn't collecting when the BaF version came out, but it's too grotesque for my taste anyway. The new one looks like it will be good.

It doesn't predate TOYBIZ marvel legends it ran along side of it.
Shame it's on the Grim reaper mould. The hips are hindered in legs spread poses. I'd prefer if the helmet had smaller eye holes and he really ought to have some new effect pieces. Colour looks good and the extra hands are welcome.
I agree with Dan that he could be bulkier.
Also, Since my birthday is next month, I will try to pre-order the Orb figure so the retro carded Ghost Rider can go great with him to fight him in my collection.
Hi. I liked watching your review, but I think you might have been a bit too lenient or generous.. Also, an A somewhere would have been preferable. Just two extra hands and no power effects (even if it had been the ubiquitous swirly effects) was cheap from Hasbro.

Good list, although I've never really been a fan of Toad for some reason. I think I'd swap him out for Juggernaut.
@@Super1866 a lot of people swapout someone for Juggernaut. I'd have them work together. But Juggernaut was never apart of the Brotherhood. I based my version on the animated series but Toad wasn't apart of it during the series. In X-Men Evolution that was the team.
@@Tyler_Lalonde- That's true, Toad was not in the brotherhood in the 90's show but I never saw X-Men Evolution. As for Juggernaut, I only put him in because he's a favourite. He gets associated with the brotherhood but I don't remember ever seeing him with that group. I think he's just viewed in a similar way as he has that type of character profile. His relation to Professor X is interesting.

Looked up his height and it ranges from 5' 7" to 6' 2". I always thought he was in the 6' 2" range.

Someone said in the comments of another video is because it takes Hasbro so long to complete a team that it'll have been 6 years between the first member and the last so they don't even look like they belong next to each other cause they've not the jelly legs or melted face. Mystique looks paltry next to Pyro and Avalanche and worse the VHS isn't even an update cause it still has the jelly legs. How do you give figures meant for action and poses weak LEGS!
Even though this guy does look like classic Avalanche somewhat, is he really a figure of Dominikos Petrakis or is he a figure of a guy who went to a fancy dress party as Avalanche?
Looks like you've got QC with the shoulders being the same part used. 4:01 Right shoulder sculpt is the same as the left shoulder sculpt 5:30. They're so inconsistent with these Grim Reaper shoulders. Product images show this figure's shoulders are backward like Sentry's, but Gorr uses the same shoulders and they were assembled correctly on that figure.
Wait bro please don’t tell me new sentry’s shoulders are backwards because the thigh connector joints are already improperly assembled across almost every figure I’ve seen of it and if they fucked that up too that’s absurd

I believe Vinnie Jones Juggernaut look for X3 was in inspired by Avalanche. Almost a mash up of the 2 characters.
I thought that. The ToyBiz X-Men Classics version of this reminded me of Vinnie Jones.
@@Super1866 I could see that. The depiction of Jones Juggernaut being the size of a normal man and the style of his open helmet made it hard for me to buy in to him being the Juggernaut. Ryan Reynolds Juggernaut is how he should of been.

This effort is weaker than I’d like. But as you say, he’s a gap filler.
I too missed the X-Men Classics Avalanche. He never showed up in my area. So I’m definitely getting this version. But I’m a little worried that an Avalanche with an “A” is going to be included in some sort of boxset with a pinless/double-jointed Mystique and all-new Destiny… 😬

Dan it comes off like you get these figures early from Hasbro, the reason being is you never really critique these figures properly. Because that helmet is trash and he is not the right color at all. The package shows the right color of his costume. And the buck he is on is way to small for him. Plus they have the pins in his arms and legs when by now he should have pinless joints. We the viewers prefer you give a honest review.
Good points here and you're right. A lighter shade of blue would have worked better on this guy for sure. He should have been bigger, like Bishop or Cable maybe. I personally don't mind pins but seeing as how Hasbro have started doing pinless and prices have gone up, this guy should be pinless. I think that Dan gets these from a site called indemandtoys which is a UK retail site that seems to get these first. There is another UK site called staractionfigures that gets these almost as soon as indemandtoys does, then of course comicsandcocktails, another UK site gets them pretty soon after. These have been showing up in the UK before anywhere else in recent times. Some toy companies have started to pick up the pace again when it comes to releasing things. When it comes to Marvel Legends and the McFarlane DC Multiverse stuff, things have really started to speed up.
Reviews are subjective, Dan is just sharing his opinion and he likes the figure. I don't have too much to complain about it as well and think it actually looks better in this review than in the images.
@@privateprivate31337 I think he does tbf. While it has it's flaws, I think he's pleased with it overall and that is why there isn't much criticism. Aspects of this figure will bother some people but then others, it won't. Like I said, I don't think these came directly from Hasbro, I think they come from a UK retail site. While there can be times where a reviewer receives stuff directly from a company for free and doesn't want to rock the boat, I'm not so sure that is the case here.
One of the laziest figure crapped out by hasbro. He's a pass even when he goes on clearance
I hate his head sculpt. It's so plain and boring. I want the head on the packaging on the figure. It's more menacing and fits the character.
To not include any rock/ ground effects shows how cheap Hasbro is .
It is a bit cheap of them. It would have been nice to have but personally, I don't mind if that is not an inclusion. However, I think Hasbro should have either included something like that or something else to make it worth the price. The previous Avalanche that Toybiz did in the 00's came with a rock/ground effect. You literally had to wind it up and it vibrated. It also had brushes on the bottom.
Dissapointing figure to say the least. It should have been much beefier and with effects for the 25 usd price tag.

This character has always looked pretty meh but this is a terrible figure even by Avalanche standards. Got his lip gloss on and ready for some kissing tho.
Almost 30 bucks and all he comes with is one extra set of hands? Not even an extra head with a screaming face or anything... wow. Hasbro is really charging more for less. This is such a disappointing figure. That face is so dull. Not even an effect piece or something. We truly are in another dark age of legends

@@vicdamon3551 Yeah maybe. There are a few that would have worked better than what we got. Bishop or Cable could have worked, even Sabretooth. Some may have fit better than others but all of those would have been better than this imo.
