Agreed! And that was her main struggle with singing that song, was that she lacked confidence, so in some spots (not in the final, but during practice) it seemed as though she tried too hard. That final runthrough, though...💣🔥 She was gorgeous!
You just have this energy that makes people feel comfortable to even "mess up" or not be perfect around you! I wish I had a vocal coach like that when I was younger, maybe I wouldn't be so shy about my voice. I hope my daughter, or son, are able to get beyond the fear and sing!

I used to immitate artists when I was a teen to the point that I didn't know what my own voice sounded like without theirs backing me up. Okay, that got profound, quick... I want to learn. i love this song, and how encouraging you are with each and every one of your students. Such a gift.
I think her method is teaching them the fundamentals first before allowing them to freestyle songs. It’s really about the conditioning vs “copying” or imitating . The more experience and vocal capability they have as a singer is probably what determines her approach If you watch the video she did with Cameron Goode you will see a great example of her allowing a singer to do both so they can appreciate the beauty of music and it’s originality . - 1st they did vocal warms up - He sung a song for her in his own way - She gave him some help and positive critiques and challenged him to sing the song in it’s original composition (like the artist) - He adjusted and went for it. Although challenging, he overcame and it Sounded amazing - Then finally the “Make it your own” part of the session where she told him to try mixing the 2 versions to create a performance style composite and it was 🔥🔥🔥 I love that with Coach Cheryl she knows what each singer needs worked on and she starts there and she helps them develop their voices. Every singer is different and that’s what’s makes these videos awesome.

Cheryl corrected then gave love and boosted her self esteem, she was just nervous, needed assurance and love and then she blew that voice and it was beautiful! You can give correction in life , we all need constructive criticism, but where people mess up is just criticism without the encouraging after. This is how you build someone up!
I just turned 34 today and I have had a lifelong dream of getting vocal lessons. I'm nowhere near being able to afford them yet, but if I ever am able to, I hope I get a teacher just like you. I need someone who is verbally reaffirming and giving constructive criticism while totally killing it on building their confidence. I love watching your videos because it makes me feel like I, too, could be believed in like you believe in your students.

I have been binge watching so many of these videos of Cheryl working with students. I can really tell how good she is at her craft. seeing these students work hard during lessons and improve is also very inspiring. I’m also a beginner and taking vocal lessons myself. It’s not an easy journey and I beat myself up sometimes feeling like my voice does not improve quickly enough. But like every skill in life, it just takes time and practice
Cassidy!! You are incredible!! You seem a little insecure and that’s why you find it hard sometimes, but that’s okay! You can make that better. One piece of advice I wish someone would’ve told me when I started training in singing 9 years ago is not to be afraid of making mistakes!! That’s the only way to learn, and by making mistakes you’re allowing your coach to see what’s happening and they can help you. I tell you this because I still sometimes get really anxious about the way I sound and I’m 19! Honestly you have so much talent, don’t hold back beautiful, you’re worth much more than you know❤️❤️
