Der heimliche Aufmarsch from Ernst Busch, one of my favorite East German songs. I learned this song in 10th grade and it got us an easy grade in history class.
der heimliche aufmarsch was composed in the late 20s/early 30s if i remeber correctly. at least busch was pretty active in this period especially in favor for the german kpd (=communist party).
I tried "Gunner, HEAT, PC!" since your last video. What an excellent find! I love it, that the eastern Tanks are from the DDR's NVA. The Crew- Voice will be awesome in german.
@@hupreix2553 Don't you mean West German? The Leopard was a West German tank. A number of them were also used by the Canadians in the 70s & 80s as I recall seeing them on a ROTC class visit to CFB Shilo somewhere West of Winnipeg
I was a T-72 gunner in the Nationale Volksarmee (the National People's Army for my western friends) from 1983 to 1986 till an injury from a car accident made me being discharged, joined as soon as my schooling was done. With how small the turret was, we were glad we had the autoloader, would have been a nightmare to the otherwise. Every day we were just waiting for the order to deploy to stop a NATO invasion that thankfully never happened. I was still so sad when my nation was absorbed by the NATO Germany. A united DDR would have been so amazing. I still see myself as one citizen of the DDR. Maybe one day the people's revolution can come to Germany again. Nice video. :) Sorry for my bad English haha.
great video, I was on M1A2s for several years, the smoke obscuration from the gun is actually a compromise here, you can't see anything at all in real life and have to rely on wing tanks telling you whether you hit anything or how to adjust. The developers are trying to make it as real as possible without being tedious, and are doing a great job so far
I love the draw backs of the soviet tanks as well since it feels more hardcore in a way. If i was a soldier in a real battle of course i would prefer to have as many bells and whistles as possible
Awesome! Anyone else remember playing the Game "Iron Warriors: T - 72 Tank Command" it was a decent tank simulator for it's day and you started out with a T-34, graduated to a T-55 and then a T-72. By the time you got your T-72 fully upgraded it was almost like cheating! The game really really made you appreciate all the modern features.
It is still very solid simulator, the way how manual gearbox works and how it interacts with engine is impressive even today. It was made by Ukrainian studio from Kharkiv named Graviteam, they made many more great tank simulators and tactical games.
The autoloader sound is one thing, but the extra step to model the sound (as well as the x-ray model and actual reload time) when switching ammo types as it needs to cycle past the other ammo type(s) to get to the selected ammo is one of my favourite little additions that few go the extra step for!
I got it a few days ago and I absolutely love it. But being a T-55 tanker and having to go up against M60 and M1 would not have been a great experience. Especially at night. I died so many times without even seeing the enemy it was really frightening. In general I found it surprising how fast you can die in a tank battle. I was not expecting that. And the x-ray in the AAR is just awesome.
One of my favorite parts of this game is how obvious the difference in NATO and Warsaw Pact tech is. If you were in an M60A3 versus a platoon of T-72s you could have taken them all out with one shot per tank because of how much better your laser rangefinder is, plus lead being calculated by the gunsight, and modern thermals on top of all of it.
I tried the demo yesterday and it was a lot harder than I thought. Playing three positions in the tank at once (driver, gunner, commander) requires quite a bit of multitasking. I ended up shooting from the standstill often because aiming effectively while driving was to high of a workload
Love your attention to detail in how you put in appropriate music for the East German side, as someone who was born in the GDR I appreciate the extra effort. Should you do another video from the NVA's perspective I recommend "Unsere Panzerdivision" (Our tank division) as intro music.
I spent way more time than I should have not knowing that the red circle is the laser indicator. I thought it was just a "clear to fire indicator" and kept missing by miles. Eventually I figured it out, but not before a few Americans drove right up to me.
the idea of any second, that a giant depleted uranium spike could pierce your tank's thick armor, cooking the ammo racks beneath you, send you flying 250ft, and burn off your flesh and bones, is bloody damn terrifying
Imagine being a eastern German soldier, you are technically gonna fight your own people from the west, and probably most East German soldiers would probably not be very happy about being there
