How does it perform in different insulation like XHHN or THWNwith thick insulation where the outside thickness doesn't determine wire guage like THHN does

Thanks for explaining that the left knob adjusts tension. I got a pair, no manual supplied, and I couldn't see anything moving when I turned the (rather stiff) left knob.

I’ve had this for years, it’s very good. Unfortunately for me, in the UK the Klein after sales service is poor. I needed spares for my drivers which needed to be imported from the USA. The postage makes the spares more expensive than the tool was originally.
Now, I’m just starting to swap out my Klein tool kit ( which is pretty extensive, and full of stuff I really rate ) for Knipex/Wera/Wiha replacements. Klein, you need to step up your game in the UK, after buying lots of your gear I now have to buy it all again.
When using this wire stripper, you can set the cut depth you want and replicate it time after time, on flat twin & earth it’s super fast, one click removes the outer sheath, another strips the insulation on the L & N.

I've got mine and it feels like there is something wrong with it. I don't know if that's intended but, it works like two step pool, two action. The metal bits in between grabbing claws is like catching itself half way and I can see a mark on metal piece where it is scratched. I was thinking maybe it will even itself over time and will become smooth, I don't know,
    What do you think?

  • @amitghosh6966

I have used this stripper and found that this is only useful for stripping individual wires and not a cable having two, three or more wires means a two core, three core or multi core cables like computer networking cables having many wires inside an insulating cover. When such a cable is stripped using this stripper, it strips everything that is outer as well as the inner insulations of the wires so we can't only strip the outer insulation and then strip the wires inside one by one according to desired length. If a cable is to be stripped then we'll have to use a sharp knife to first cut the outer insulation and then use this stripper to strip the wires inside

Only problem with that tool in my experience is the par where the part that pulls back the insulation it bites on insulation and nicks it as it pulls back exposing wires within the insulation .

How to choose between the Model 11063 and this one, the self-adjusting stripper (Model 11061)? I will use it with electronics, so I need something for smaller wire - it needs to handle 20-26 AWG at minimum. The 11061 tops out at 20-22. The 11063 tops out around there, too, with the blade it comes with, but you can swap in a blade that handles smaller wires - up to AWG 26. But, it's $30!! - which more than doubles the price. So, I guess I need to get the 11063, if I decide to spend that much. I just wish Klein would include the smaller blade in the purchase since it seems to be the only advantage over the 11061. Any thoughts?

  • @JoeC92

I've used them before. Not bad for RW90 stranded #10AWG, but otherwise not a fan of them. I have a regular set of klein strippers one that is 20-10AWG and one that is 10-6AWG. That being said I rarely even use strippers just use my pliers.
The auto one works cool but with the price and size no thanks. Unless my company buys me a pair I'd never pay for them out of pocket. Just not worth it to me.
