*Shout out to Melee Marth and Roy for making this happen...*
really Smash Bros. is the reason why this franchise got localized, and then it was thanks to Awakening for breathing new life into it and saving Fire Emblem from getting shelved
@@bulborb8756 and Awakening featured "Marth" as one of the main characters.
Shout out to Shouzou Kaga for making this happen
And that's why Melee is the worst Smash game. Even Brawl is better.

My first Fire Emblem game was the first one to come to the U.S. for GBA. I still have the cartridge, and I’ve been hooked on the series ever since.
Same here
I'm hopeful for a FE GBA Collection to come out for the Switch
Same! It was on the GBA.
Same here. I’ve actually started replaying the game recently because I’ve have started that game so many times and have never finished it, so I’ve made it my goal to finish the game in its entirety.
Fe7 was also my first, except on an emulator in 2016 lol
always fun to see fans from way back in the day still sticking by the series
Awakening was my first, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Three Houses was fun, due to the amount of freedom I had in my builds, but the fact that you couldn’t play a save file after clearing the game diminished the fun of creating builds a bit. Wonder how Engage will do things
Since it has a more linear story and a world map to separate chapters, I'm hoping it'll be more like Awakening where you can still go in and do stuff after beating the endgame.
Engage doesn’t have a New Game+ so you don’t restart but I’ve heard there isn’t much post game content.
I’m fine if it’s even just an opportunity to max out your units.
Didn't ask
My favourite was probably
Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest but all the ones on the 3ds were pretty great 👍
These mad lads decided NOW was the time to officially translate this video! 🤣
I’m also glad this person returned to do the narration. Very morale boosting.
It’s insane how little NOA has covered this game.
They should have translated all the trailers. There are still a handfull of JPN ones that haven't been translated. Bad marketing tactic
@@awu2160 oh for sure but if the game breaks 1mil this week or something will it really have mattered especially since full fans of the franchise know all about the JP marketing?
We’ll have to wait and see before we talk in absolutes.
@@fieldystick meanwhile NOEurope has only one Twitter post to its name (I think I haven’t checked again).
@@fieldystick it’s really crazy, they went in on promoting 3 houses back in 2019, but it’s been so quiet for this game. We still don’t know the voice cast for most characters
It’s incredible that this game is almost out, time moves fast
They revealed only a few months beflre release, contrary to Three Houses which was teased about a year before release
Ikr time flies so fast I can’t believe it’s 2023 right now
It goes faster and faster as you get older...
I just want TOTK man 💀💀💀
Received an early copy yesterday and already have 11 hours played. Am loving it!

Cavalry units - have a wide range of movement.
Armored units - have high defense.
Archers - ...
Yep, that about sums it up.
Put an archer on a horse however and well
It seems that fire emblem can never decide if an archer should be good or not
Can’t wait for the mandatory early game archer who’s the worst unit in the game and instantly becomes my favorite 🙏
Hey, we just got a Fire Emblem game where Sniper is one of the best classes in the entire game, and the only reason archers aren't gods early game is because other classes are allowed to use bows too, plus it's one of the most desirable classes to master. Curved Shot is just amazing for like the first third of Three Houses. The curse is usually *starting* in the archer class, and even then, Bernadetta is a busted unit despite her horrible stats, and Ignatz is pretty useful for a while as well.
@@OrigamiAhsoka ngl There's a certain pleasure from using them. Gordin, Wil, Rebecca, Rolf. I got good memories trying to level those little idiots.
First game was Fates, and despite its reputation, it still holds a place in my heart. From there I played Awakening, Three Houses when it came out, and any other game I could find.
I imagine after the booming success of Three Houses, Engage won't be many people's first FE game, but I still have high hopes for it.
Edit: Wow, I just wanna say, the Fates love is greatly appreciated. I'm glad there are people who enjoy this game like I do.
It's not a bad game. People just didn't like the story.
Ya 3 houses perfected what fates failed to do which was to make ur decision to pick a side impactful
@@yyopem I mean, the fact that you could pretty much recruit all other students, except the main lords, from each house kinda lessened its impact in my opinion because there were some maps where generic units replaced the students as enemies and the only important units you had to kill were the lords
It’ll be my first FE title. Wasn’t really interested before but man Engage’s vividness just really tempts me
You may be surprised by how well it will do. Pre-orders thus far have actually outpaced 3 Houses by about 2X, and it's currently the #1 in New Releases for Video Games on Amazon. In general, with every new(original) FE released since Awakening, the player base has consistently grown. Awakening sold 2.4 Million, Fates about 3 Million, and Three Houses over 3.8 Million. Given the Switch has a bigger install base, and the easier to sell nature of this game(basically Fire Emblem Heroes, something which has a pretty big install base, but on Switch) Engage will probably be a decent amount of people's first FE game.
One of my favorites is Sacred Stones for the GBA. You can do extra skirmishes on finished maps, and there were two "dungeons" you get access to for leveling. It had secret shops where you could buy awesome weapons or stat up items so you could max out your characters. You could also unlock almost all the bosses as playable characters through accomplishing specific goals. It had a lot of stuff that kept you playing.
FESS is also my favorite. Most people didn't like it but I loved it.
My favorite too, it was the game that made me love fire emblem
Epheriem & Erika 💖💖 (names spelled wrong probably)
@@DragonsRiver Ephraim and Eirika
Sacred Stones gang. The story was straight forward enough for my kid brain to understand.
I technically started playing Fire Emblem with The Sacred Stones as my first thanks to the 3DS Ambassador Program but Awakening was the first one I really got deep into. I love the franchise, and I'm excited to see the franchise return to a greater focus on strategy in Engage.
Ephraim, Seth, Joshua, colm, and Ross is my dream team. A honorable mention to Franz. My favorite and first entry into fire emblem.
Ambassador Program got me into it as well, was addicted!
So so sooooo excited for this game. Looks like we’ll see the return of “el” tomes in this game. I hope they don’t replace spells like Sagittae, Bolganone, Bolting, etc. I’d love it if the upgraded version of a spell has different styles and might and stuff
YOOOOOOOOOOOO
This video coupled with how engage has been marketed has me wondering if we're about to experience a Fire Emblem renaissance of sorts. Maybe we'll even get remakes of Genealogy, Thracia 776 and Binding Blade. Would love to see those all finally come West.
The leak that revealed this game also said an FE4 remake was coming next
@@BoomingInfernape Has that been proven though?
@@BoomingInfernape if it's true I'd be super happy. I would love to see Genealogy in a modern format with it's unique game quirks. Love that game.
@@_Just_Another_Guy considering it was leaked with the first Alear screenshot months before Engage was announced I think there is a very good chance of this being true. It would also be the reason why most people that worked on three houses and shadows of valentia were not credited with working on Engage; they likely have at least two teams now that the series is becoming more popular.
@@SknowingWolf Genealogy with an Awakening or Fates style parent system would be incredible.
Here is a good review I found of this game:
"In some ways, that focus-shift back to SRPG fundamentals feels like a possible course correction after the significant ‘Personafication’ of Three Houses. On the other hand, this game still feels like it strives to marry old-school Fire Emblem with those new ideas. As a fan of older Fire Emblem and strategy games in general, I was thrilled to see the depth of combat and the level to which you can make battling your absolute focus. That’s still true even if Engage doesn’t quite get the balance in its execution right in a way that might put a small subset of Three Houses lovers off. It’s still a tremendously satisfying experience, mind. It’s engaging - sorry, I had to get it in - and an easy recommendation. "
Small? That section of FE probably the majority. It sold over 3mil
@@mikethepokemaster2012 they weren't talking about the Three Houses lovers being a small subset of the FE community, but a small subset of the Three Houses lovers maybe being put off by the execution. (not all people love Three Houses for the same reasons)
I started way back with Sacred Stones, really excited to see Ephraim and Eirika again in Engage
The levin sword finally looks like the one Robin has in smash again!
My first fire emblem game was actually the first one when it was released on the 30th anniversary. I’m so glad it was because it gave me a huge appreciation for every game after that
Yeah but I didn’t get that game which is limited,
Because when your units fall in battle,
🫰They’re gone.
I know it’s in the original and Casual mode wasn’t made back then,
So it’ll stay like that.
Wow, you're not the first person I've heard say that game was their first.
I’m actually pretty excited to give this game a try, especially since Three Houses was so special
The reviews have basically said this is a turn away from Three Houses and the stuff that made modern Fire Emblem popular. Engage takes deep cuts away from character interaction/social mechanics, the hub is pointless, and the story is generic “chosen one with amnesia fights evil god”.
@@anyroad5455 you seem really intent in dissuading people from getting the game // despite the fact this game is getting exceedingly more good reviews than negative ones (82% Metacritic. Precisely the style is what's pulling me off. So incoherent and bland in my opinion.

The only thing about this game that is up in the air about, and why I can't recommend it to people who care about the story of games, is this may spoil basically every game before this with the emblems. Crazy how far the series has come. I remember back in 2004 at a local Game Stop, the box art for Fire Emblem (7, though I had no idea it was the 7th for many years to come) caught my eye, and I asked my dad to get it for me.
