Your yellow aquarium stand really looks nice with the purple tank on top. Kidding!! I'm thinking I might buy this kit as well as I am slightly colorblind myself. Thank you for this shrimple and straightforward review!
Thanks for replying so fast. I’m definitely going to buy one now. I have the API Master Kit, but sometimes I just want a quick reading and plus the Master Kit doesn’t even test for GH or anything like that - and I’m so tired of writing everything down in a journal log! This is freaking awesome I didn’t even know about it until today.
Found this video when looking for reviews about this product. Thanks, very clear and informative presentation. I think I'm going to try this, seems accurate enough and super easy compared to the liquid tests.
Very interesting. I switched to mostly using test strips, as my experience with Tetra brand is that they are about as accurate as liquid (which I keep for a backup if I see something odd). But distinguishing similar colors with either is tough. I might give this a try.
Love your channel m8t..pls upload more content with all things aquarium. reviews tips and tricks specs on different fish and shrimp with regard to the best conditions for them.👍👍
Thanks for the review. I m between this and tetra strips which is a lot cheaper. Do you run CO2? The result seems to be a bit high. I wonder how can you get that without co2 injection.
This is true. However due to the chemicals companies use to make the strips, it’s not possible to have them on the same strip. Some companies do do ammonia test strips on their own :)
Ammonia yes. Nitrite testing is a waste off money. But besides that, these JBL test kits are scrap, please do not buy them. Even their support are up to shit. They blatantly told me I was the one at fault rven though I follow their directions. According to their test kit my nitrates are currently at 175 and nitrite at 250.. wtf? Strange that my fish are all fine and the other test kits shows non traceable amounts of these.
My tap water was good but nitrite is too high for a pet if I remember correctly My nitrate was: 25 Nitrite was: 0,25 GH was: >4°d KH was: 4,5°d PH was: 6,8 Chlorine was: 0 CO2 was: 20
Simply Shrimps Yep. Beats walking round the house swearing under your breath while you try to find the right light! 😁 The one thing both tests could benefit from is being able to input the species you're keeping to get a better pH and GH analysis.
It's a fairly young tank only a few months old, but yes i am concerned that there are nitrites in it. I have put some Prodibio bacteria in to hopefully help over come this slight issue.
How do you know they're inaccurate? What type of calibration have you done for accuracy and against what? While the indicator liquids are possibly better, they also vary with human error and other systematic errors. Saying something is inaccurate isn't quite as good as an evidence based approach where you prove something is inaccurate. Then, is it always inaccurate by the same amount? If so, then add or subtract by the same amount of the inaccuracy for every test, this now make the test precise - you can exclude accuracy completely. Again, I am unsure what measures you took to verify any level of accuracy. Did you do a control?
@@pauldavis4851 I used the same test trips, in the same place in the same aquarium. I've hold the same phone in the same location with the same light with the teststrip in the same location, yet 5 minutes apart and I get different test results. I bought the JBL testkit JBL pro aquatest and get consistent results there every time just using my eyes and not relying on an application to do the work. Also when testing there should not be any human error posible at all. Tests should not even vary in different light conditions, shaking of the camera/phone or even using different mobile devices. So so far I have found the testresults of the strips combined with the app worthless and inconsistent (but thats my opinion). I highly suggest to use a testkit with drops. If you like the functions of the app, on android there are simular apps for aquaria (like aquarium note) where you can write down all the conditions of your aquariumwater)
@@HardstyleGamerz human error, sadly, is always in any experimental science. Even something as simple as reading off colours off a chart. We can't avoid it. We can help limit it. I am surprised the app got such different results so quickly. And it seems like you did a fair test. I'm going to get a kit and try it. See what the outcome is. There's still a manual test by the looks of things - so can compare with a person with normal colour vision.
@@pauldavis4851 we know they are inaccurate becuase qe compare them to proper kits. Simple answer? Ben in the hobby for 30 years, of which the last 20 is mostly reef. So believe me, this JBL test kit is shit.

Thank you for this shrimple and straightforward review!
Haha 😂 yeah it’s a good kit for a quick test!
Oh my good this is amazing. You should do an updated video on how it’s done for you over the past years!
They’re great :)

You’re welcome! Yeah this is a good test kit to check if everything is ok. For further tests I would use liquid though :)

Yeah I do a test strip test then if something looks odd do a liquid test to double check. Always good to have a back up =)
Hey, there are many guys who use or test the JBL EasyTest 6in1 strips on the proscan because it really seems to be the same strips... just cheaper...
I don’t know for sure sorry :(
I wonder if the old cut the strip in half trick would work? Or does the scan need full width? And worryingly the feedback on the App Store is terrible

Thanks! Means a lot 😁 I’m still busy renovating a house but as soon as I get some tank up and running I’ll be on it 🤞
Very informative, thank you!
No worries 😁
Great vid. super funny and great info~!
I think I got a little carried away in this video, some might say I... Let my hair down ;)
Ive been using the Tetra dip test strips and find them annoying, I'll give these JBL ones a go, I like the histogram feature of the app as well!
It's good to track how stable your water is :)
Ou I see, this was the reason you have invited Poseidon :D
Indeed haha 😂
Thanks for the review. I m between this and tetra strips which is a lot cheaper.
Do you run CO2? The result seems to be a bit high. I wonder how can you get that without co2 injection.
No co2 running in the tank. I may be slightly high as there are no real plants in there. I plan to add some soon so might bring the level down :)
BIG OMISSION No Ammonia test. Ammonia and Nitrite are the two most important tests
This is true. However due to the chemicals companies use to make the strips, it’s not possible to have them on the same strip. Some companies do do ammonia test strips on their own :)

Chlorine was: 0
CO2 was: 20
Yeah you want nitrite to be 0 really :)
@@SimplyShrimps It os still 25 and my ammonia has been at 0,3 for 2 days
It can take a few weeks to lower. Have you added any bacteria?
@@SimplyShrimps yes but I am wating for it to higher or is that already a spike? And can you have ammonia spikes after nitrite
Ammonia shouldn’t spike after nitrite unless there is a dead fish or over feeding has taken place.
great video. Question for you though.... when they die.. do you eat them?
Idiot
😂
@@teaforthree1 only an idiot would think it was a genuine question.
They’re not very filling to be honest 🙈
Number 1.
What happens if I loss the paper with the colors?
What if it gets wet?
That looks better than the API one. I tried the latter today and...wasnt impressed. 😇
I mainly like the fact that I don’t need to struggle reading the results 😂

Hello mate could you do a test on the shrimp tanks
My Crystal Black tank is,
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20
pH - 6
:)
Can you tell me what make the aquarium is behind you?
It was custom made in the UK for the dimensions I needed. I doesn’t really have a model or make sorry :(
It's blue 😉
I know right! Thank you
Are you concerned about the nitrite? What's your plan of action?
It's a fairly young tank only a few months old, but yes i am concerned that there are nitrites in it. I have put some Prodibio bacteria in to hopefully help over come this slight issue.
How much space is required for the app to get installed??
26.1MB 😁
get Enchroma Color Blind Glasses
I’ve heard of these. They seem amazing!
My results are not accurate at all.

As I said dip strips are good for a glance and if unsure i'd always do a liquid test to make sure :)
It is scrap, big time. Testing 1 minute apart I get completely different results. Not by 1 or 2. I mean by nitrate being 10 then suddenly 250.
Great video! very informative and helpful thanks buddy! I would give 2 likes if I have 2 thumbs 👍👍
Haha! Thanks for watching. Glad I could help :)
How did JBL know you're color blind? Are you going to do guppies too?
I spoke to them at a trade show :) How do you mean am I going to do guppies too?
Would be so nice if this was more precise, tested phosphate and iron. yeah, I`m asking a lot
Just a bit 😂
jBl should pay you for this
Woow...
Sayang di negaraku susah untuk mendapatkan produk itu, dengan harga yang lumayan mahal😭
Looks blue to me bud🤣
Co2 is inaccurate.
Never knew you were colour blind
You learn something new everyday ;)

It sucks.
