So I've seen a lot of makeup under a microscope videos floating around, so I wanted to get in on the fun and get a microscope of my own to see what I could see! I got some knockoff makeup products from Santee Alley downtown, and then compared those to their real counterparts under a microscope to expose the differences up close on my skin! We took a look at the Sweet Peach Palette, Fenty Foundation, Moonchild Palette, Better Than Sex Mascara, and Kylie Lip Kit.

YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO TO SEE WHICH MAKEUP REMOVER TAKES OFF THE MOST MAKEUP (wipes, face wash, etc.) because they all advertise that they do but a lot of times they don’t! Then you can look at your skin with the microscope to see which took off the most!!

We have no idea what is in that shit, there could have been heavy metals, poisonous substances, whatever, and she was just casually putting it near her eyes and mouth and on her skin for youtube views. There’s no reason to wearing the expensive brand makeup - drugstore makeup is totally fine if you’re looking for a cheaper option, but dear god don’t put these counterfeits on your face. A much, much greater risk of harm. Just get cheap drugstore makeup, stay away from this stuff.

Speaking as a microbiologist, that microscope is not powerful enough to pickup any single organisms. And in any case, bacteria are mostly clear unless grouped in a colony, but if you have bacterial colonies growing on your face, then you have a whole other issue going on there. :P

Actually you naturally have bacteria on your skin, there are the good bacteria that help with the balance of your skin health and there are bad bacteria which can cause infection we learned that in health class and cosmetology. Thats why you shouldn't share eye makeup and many other cosmetics and cosmetic tools like powder brushes due to the risk of getting and infection amongst other things. Oh and razors. Don't share personal razors and other personal grooming and beauty tools like eyebrow tweezers, and i discourage the use of public shared samples of mascara and the such at makeup departments even with the throw away mascara brushes due to the risk of someone double dipping their mascara brush into the mascara sample tube, swatching on your wrist or hand, i say should be fine, but do not apply to your face i beg of you!

Seeing just the brief overview of the dangers of cheap and counterfeit makeup made me feel a whole lot less bad about how much I spent at Ulta building my workplace makeup routine kit.

the white flecks in the eye shadow are probably unmilled talc, or some other filler. Not toxic, unless you're allergic to talc.
Also there are mites (demodex) that live around hair follicles
+Soprie talc itself often contains carcinogens (like asbestos, unlabeled of course,) and is restricted in Europe
The fakes look so damn bad. Might as well get dollar store makeup, at least that gets inspected
Dollar store dont have near the quality of some of those shimmers, also they dont have that big of a selection and the makeup is sometimes shittier at the dollar store. FDA approved makeup doesnt mean its safe for your skin. People have still been known to get diseases, breakouts, and rashes from "safe" makeup. Makeup is a bargain every time you wear it!

Chances are it’s because that’s all they need to replicate to make a sale since you probably can’t open it before buying it, and at that point the seller most definitely has a convenient “no refund policy”

those white dots from the fake eyeshadow palette could be talc powder, I bet they didn't bother too much to blend out that formula 😂 both sides of the foundation looked pretty nasty under the microscope but other than that it was fun to watch 🤪

Talc and asbestos are mined in the same vicinity so often times, even make-up from high end brands contain asbestos. If you breathe that in while applying it, even microscopic specks, you will get mesothelioma (cancer in your lungs) is 20+ years. I never take a chance with any make-up containing talc! There was a story a few years ago about a mom who bought her daughter a palette at Claires and tested it, and it was positive for asbestos. This is more common that people think.
@@sonicleaves it's a heightened plausibility to get cancer from talc and eaven then if you breathe it in long times and high concentrations, as in, you could get cancer but not necessarily. If companies bought their talc from sources that test out regularly for asbestos it shouldn't be a problem. But companies expect hight profit margins and consumers low prices, the difference is made up in the quality of the ingredients and in the welfare of the people manufacturing those products.
