Thanks for posting. Had to replace my 38 year old volume and tone knobs that were 38 years old and turning yellow, lol. And my Fender Strat looks exactly like your guitar in the video.
Thanks for posting! I’m trying to swap stuff out on my Strat (including the tremolo! 😯), and am relying entirely on tutorial videos. 🤯 One of my knobs was being extremely stubborn, but with a lot of elbow grease I was able to pop it off by using a small flat-tip screwdriver wrapped in an eyeglasses wiping cloth.
Came here because I had some of the packaging wrap under both and I just used the clipped 6th string of the same guitar to get them off with little effort, thanks!
have you tryed what i do ? Just start with 2 picks stacked on each other in between the knob and pickguard, then start stuffing 1 pick at a time in between the 2 picks. It wont take but a couple more to pop the knob up. try it
Worked great for me! Took me 2 attempts to remove a knob so i could remove the pickguard film underneath. However, I pushed down to much when putting the knob back on the post. I screwed myself as there was no room for tucking the t-shirt under the knob this time. I had to then look up another method and found one using a few playing cards. (I actually used a few paint swatch color cards). This technique worked too.
@@LifeLongEnemy Nope but I took it in to guitar center and he said the pot was bad… And he said the pot would be like $6-8 and $50 for the repair work. 😮
@@Snek03 bro I found out and all you needed to do was to take a flat head in between the two pieces of metal down the slot will like widen a little bit so the knob would stay on.
@@LifeLongEnemy hmm interesting… The guitar tech said the pota were bad so i’m not sure if that would help the knob work even if it sticks on. Were you able to get yours working?
@@Snek03 Your guitar knobs are screwed on, if he's saying the pots were bad. If you used this trick to get the knobs off, you've ripped the pots apart.
i want to remove mine because theres packaging wrap stuck under them
Yep, exact reason why I came to this video. Feeling of the plastic wrapped around the volume knob is horrible haha!
SAME
Me too
Same i just took it off
you must have a strat 😂
14 years! the plastic under those knobs was there and I thought i was just destined to deal with it! Thank you so much!
The spoon trick is worth the “like” button”! Cheers! 🎸
Thanks guys, cheers!
The thin cloth trick works just great - thanks a lot.

Great ideas. Want to remove that last piece of plastic pick guard cover on a new guitar and didn’t want to damage it. Thanks for the post 🎸
The spoon did the trick. Thanks! Need to get the protective plastic film off and this did the trick.

this actually worked, thanks. four will usually do it
I just used your spoon trick to remove the knobs on my LP Custom. Perfect !
Thanks, spoon trick worked a charm. They should just include a card with new guitars showing people how to do it, lol.

If you have a key cap remover, that should work as well. Used mine and it came off pretty easily
It worked! I used the Spoon method (your 2nd technique)
Thank you! When the first method doesnt work, the spoon does the trick. Thanks!!!!!
My question is how do I get it to stick back on? Mine is spinning freely and won’t stay put
You find out how yet?

Thanks, this works great!

Thank's for the spoon technic
But how do you put them back on?
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
Excellent
i just use a pick to pry it up?
does this work with push-pull (split-coil) knobs?
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH
I never actually thought about doing that.. After the video i went straight and used my hand and it came out easily without using any stuff 💀
Thanks a million!! The spoon did the trick !!
Spoon for the win!

Never seen the spoon trick thanks! Maybe two spoons are better than one
Two spoons from opposite sides sound like the way to go.
Great tip. Thanks.

Perfect video
Removes 2 layers of plastic firls successfully 👌.

Brilliant!
what'd you do to the pick guard ?
Sorry man I just now saw your message! Here's the video about the "cosmetic mod" I did on the pickguard ua-cam.com/video/3ErdnXqalUQ/v-deo.html
Thanks

The spoon is magic. Thanks!
the spoon is magic
Thx
A shoelace works well.
Welp, cereal spoon the win!
Just absolutely destroyed my Gibson knob doing this. Be careful if you try this...
Ma mayn!!!!
And now how to back it properly😂
300IQ technique
use a spoon
You don’t need to remove the knobs “first” to take the pick guard off just sayin
