A Guitarchaeology is a deep dive study into the history & origins of a guitar. We examine every little distinquishable detail and compare with catalogs, print ads & historical photos to come up with the most accurate narrative of that guitar's place in pop culture history.
Video topics are organized into playlists and color-coded:
Red = Guitarchaeology
Green = Woodworking & MakerStuff
Yellow = Music Recordings & Live Performances
Blue = other random stuff
Purple = Hiking & Urban Exploration ( purple can be found on my 2nd channel Pinetop Jackson 2 )

The Grande Ballroom, abandoned in Detroit for 5 Decades
This video tells a brief synopsis of the venue's history, and shows every corner of the storied ballroom, every nook & cranny, no stone or fallen piece of ornate horse-hair plaster left unturned.

Greco Japanese Guitar made to order card

Found these screenshots while going through my archives. This one is really interesting. Apparently you could just mark your desired specs on this card, mail it in to FujiGen Gakki, and they would build your custom electric guitar for you. Anyone know the year this was in use? I'm guessing late 1970s... #guitar #guitarequipment #instructionmanual

2014 Subaru Forester (cabin air filter change) How To Remove Glovebox
Переглядів 5 тис.9 місяців тому
In fourth generation Subaru Foresters...2014 thru 2018...the cabin air filter is behind the glove compartment door. Step 1. Remove contents of glove box. 2. Pull the damper arm off the two-pronged mounting peg. 3. Push in the side walls of the glove box to clear the side stops. 4. The glove box can now be removed, allowing access to the cabin air filter. The replacement filter I used was Microg...

Jimi Hendrix played one, I was surprised when I found out.
I now own the guitar It’s great thanks 😊😊
Nice guitar glad you rescued it and did such a fine job in restoring it.🙂
My Peavey Raptor Plus has the "EXP" separate at the TOP of head stock .... Took a picture , but guess we can't post pictures on here for everyone ..... but mine is different ..... My EXP is not all in the same title row on the head stock ....
Thanks! :) I also own a model like this, although it looks slightly different at the top and at bridge. The mechanics are split by 3 on each side of the head and the font is not black, but light and twinkling. Looks a bit nicer than this model. It says nothing about the model though, so I don't really know what guitar it is, except that it is a Suzuki guitar :D
I bought a Starcaster- Strat a few years ago to do a severe mod/upgrade to my specs. . I extended the control cavity and therefore the pick guard to accommodate the 3 quad rail/coil humbuckers and wire it like a '50's Les Paul with coil splits. Yes, that means 3 each 500k P/P vol. and 500k tone pots with the bridge tone also a P/P to activate the bridge and neck pickups together regardless of other controls. I upgraded the PCB import 5-way to a Fender 5-way blade switch, the pots sport Tele type chrome knobs and a chrome switch tip for the 5-way. I oriented the active coils when split toward the bridge for slightly brighter tones. the bridge got upgraded with roller saddles and a full size brass sustain block. The head stock got a titanium nut roller string tree and locking tuners. strung with 9-46 strings and tuned to E-Flat standard like any good Strat should be. this uniqu guitar looks great with the stars and planets space themed paint job on the body and head stock. and the hand made extended custom brushed stainless steel pick guard loaded with the 3 humbuckers and 6 pots and 5-way switch complement the paint for an out of this world looking, feeling and sounding guitar, Wanna Play???
I'm 72 and spent many nights at The Grande from 1969 till it's closing. Great memories. Glad I've held onto them!
i just use a pick to pry it up?
Saya mempunyai satu di kamar, Yamaha Guitar FG-75 Nippon Gakki Red Label.
The dry erase marker trick works better if you have the marker in one hand and the cleaning cloth in the other. Start wiping it up as soon as you draw over the stuff to remove. Don't even take time to put the lid back, don't even switch hands! Scribble - wipe scribbleWipe, scribwbiliepe. Yes like that. Then again, I see lots of guitar tool oriented videos recommend naptha as a wonder cleaner that won't hurt the finish.
The spoon did the trick. Thanks! Need to get the protective plastic film off and this did the trick.
This needed documenting. It seems like it is very close to being condemned for good. I wouldn't be surprised if it did not see 2026. I dont think you could restore it. The only thing that could posssibly be saved is the outer walls and if that's the case what is the point?
Ahhh my first guitar. Still have the little shred machine. The Korean exp (the older version) is a solid guitar. Hands down beats squire. Not saying it’s better than an actual strat. But for the price of these it’s the best mod platform.
Still here watching. Kinda jealous your neck pickup route is routed for a mini humbucker sized pickup. And I’m not sure why but that tin sound has to do with the pots that come in these. I swapped them for ones I took outta an epiphone and it helped.
This is your child, can you pick me up from bri's house now? I want to go home, I miss mom and I want to be home
Mine is the Tan Label FG130 Nippon Gakki, dated as 17/11/72
You are missing the active eq boost from the cover plate. The black switches are 3 way, hum, single, phase out. Silver is active boast eq or bypass. The eq boost increases the output, overdrives the tube amps right away in the input.
I got one for sale here in Dubai, if someone is interested. Martin level in the 70s, if not better.
Shared! Young and old alike appreciate this History
After so many great times there it is very sad to see it in such a debilitating way!
Thanks for this. Some before and after pix would be awesome
We're working on a project to do just that
@@anthonyferack3026 you know, I do like to do that, mix my urbex footage with vintage photos…it worked well with my documentary on the Vanity Ballroom ua-cam.com/video/D0_aYNr7rWE/v-deo.htmlsi=W4-CK1oK3NZknmIE The history of the Grande is so huge, and thoroughly documented; so many fantastic photos exist of Led Zeppelin on that stage, The Who, Clapton, and of course the MC5…but that stuff is all copyrighted, and I didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. The people who snapped those pics in the late 60s - early 70s, those are the old heads, the OGs, and I got nothing but love & respect for them and the storied lives they’ve led. I didn’t want to use their intellectual property without permission, so I just used my own footage
@@DetroitWill can’t wait to see it man!
I just got an orange label NG FG-151 with no number inside at all. There is a silver label with handwriting indentations written in Japanese. I ŵander if it's one that wasn't meant for export.. It's probably 30% louder than my FG 420 from 1987.
Came here because I had some of the packaging wrap under both and I just used the clipped 6th string of the same guitar to get them off with little effort, thanks!
Dyed my fretboard black. Wasn't happy with the humbucker at the bridge, so i dropped in some texas specials in a black tortoise shell pickguard. Decked bridge and some 11 half rounds. Loaned it to my neighbor who moved and i just found it at a pawnshop for 570$ I layed the money down to get this upgraded monster back!
I work on Grand River in Detroit I didn't know I was so close to the famed location.
Great Hit ! my first time in was 2010 and now it's to far Gone to even think about saving , But the basement is Dry ...
@@starnorthtoflintridge6657 I’ve lived in Michigan for just over 2 years now. I’ve been wanting to see inside the Grande since day one, but it’s always been sealed. I was thrilled to finally find a way in!
Wow she’s in REALLY BAD SHAPE now so sad to see it in this bad condition amazing video brotha 🤟
Found about these guitars today ´cause there's an available used FG160-1 online and I already learned a lot thanks to your video, thank you!
Amazing much like Nelson's Trigger guitar
Very nice video!! Glad I was able to showcase it to you
Thanks man, it was great to meet you!
Thank you, I didn't think it would be this easy. Glad I didn't take it to a shop to have it done and could do it myself!
Can we talk about how underrated the drummer is?!
Just absolutely destroyed my Gibson knob doing this. Be careful if you try this...
I bought a winston classical 51 series at a garage sale in rough shape spent a week gluing it back together replaced the locked up machine heads and restrung it 3days of letting the nylon string stretch and it sounds really good
6:33 PNW... Detroit of old
Great sharing video 👍
But how do you put them back on?
What is the key in the ignition and turned to the on position when you touched the battery cables together?
They are light as a feather. Delicate as Hell, too. Any bump can dent, scratch or chip it. Wiring is cheap. Neck is nice as Hell.
Just bought one of these guitars at a thrift store for 35 bucks. Threw some new Ernie Ball Slinky strings on it and honestly for $35 the thing rips lol
Thanks dude! I feel i can manage that. My bass has like elastic bands for strings
I have had an all original (unmodified) '05 model with butterscotch finish and black pickguard for about ten years. It is the only "Fender" I play these days. My number one.
I had this guitar and because of bad choices in doing terrible trades I gave the guitar up for PRS SE. that’s what I get for not doing my research. Cause I would never make that trade today 🫠🫠🫠

This was so helpful! Thank you so much.
