there is another factor to it being canceled, cartoon network put it in a dead time slot in order to kill its ratings as from what ive heard and seen they didn't like it and tried to claim it had bad ratings. The other issue is that it wasn't that the toys didn't sell well but that the distributors didn't send them out, something i don't know what when wrong and distribution was massively delayed until nearly or after the series ended and by then they had already been marked as discounted.
I loved Thundercats 2011 and would really like for it to get a second season. Even if it can't get the five season plan, a second season would have a chance to ends things properly.
What killed ThunderCats 2011 was the mid season break. Don't get me wrong, the lacklustre toy sales were the death blow to the show, but what brought it to its knees was the break. There was a couple of months between episodes and you can't build up any momentum when that happens. There were other factors, Cartoon Network decided that they would play with the time slot. Back then it was the birth of downloadable media and the time slot a show was first broadcast still was important to catch viewers attention. More importantly all the viewing figures and ratings used depend on that first watch. moving it around the way they did lost peoples attention. ThunderCats 2011 was yet another good show with lots of promise killed off by ignorant producers who were far happier churning out cheap rubbish to fill time slots than actually giving us good media
I never thought of it that way. Yeah, it did feel weird to me that it started in the summer and didn't come back until a few months later. Plus, changing the premiere (of what was then considered season 2 at the time) to Saturday mornings was also a bad call. Not only does the morning feel less cinematic than night, but fewer people are up by then. My sleep schedule back then still allowed me to be up for it, but even then, I don't think a big chunk of the older fanbase was up around then.

Remove the whole Lion-O getting together with the little girl and I'd be interested. Seriously, there is NO CONTEXT IN THE WORLD that can ever make that okay.
I mean, both would have been adults by that time. Lion-O was still in his teens when the show started, so both of them would have been within the age range of 18-29 at the most if they were 8 and 19 respectively at the start of the story. Still a big gap, but not exactly unheard of (my parents have a 13 year age gap, which is wider). Most likely both would have been in their 20s, since I can't image WilyKit and WilyKat to be less than 10 years old and Lion-O to be older than 17 or 18. It's a bit hard to imagine how it would work out in practice considering that WIlyKit has always been depicted as a child and we never saw how the show would tackle it, but in terms of age range it's not that weird.
Honestly, if Cartoon Network wasn't going to honor their deal and give us two seasons, they should've at least had the decency to make a movie or tv special to wrap the story up.
At the time they where most focusing on getting their feet back after a crap late 2000’s and they just did adventure time and onward so you can’t argue with that plus action cartoons where dying out

I'd love to see Thundercats 2011 continue. It was my intro to Thundercats and I think it shows the potential for the franchise to rid itself of the "80's toy commercial" moniker and go all in on being an epic fantasy. (I don't think "80's Toy Commercial" is a bad thing, but I acknowledge mainstream culture does)
Knowing the fact that if Thundercats 2011 was to have a second season it would detail "Mumm-Ra's hand in the creation of the Snarfs, Slithe's history with Lynx-O (which would also explain how Slithe and the Lizards sided with Mumm-Ra), Mumm-Ra tricking the ThunderKittens into bringing the Sword of Omens to him, so that he could send them to El Dara, and Pumyra being transformed into a wicked insectoid monster on a mission to capture the ThunderCats". But if it was to be revived, is it possible to make some changes, come up with new ideas, and scrap what was meant to happen on the show? I mean I was shocked that Pumyra betrayed Lion-O and sided with Mumm-ra, but I feel devastated that she will die if the season was to continued. After doing a lot of thinking wandering if it was possible for Thundercats 2011 to be revived I thought of some ideas that I think would fit. - While for the final stone, Tygra and the other Thundercats were concerned about Lion-O after the event that happened with him and Pumyra and finding ways to cheer him up. - Cheetara and Wilykit feel underappreciated and meet the warrior maidens show what they got to prove themselves to the guys. - Cheetara and Pumyra have a battle and they argue on who's the guilty one of breaking Lion-O's heart. - Crossover Episode (SIlverhawks and/or TigerSharks) - Pumyra Redemption Arc (lets just hope she don't get killed off) - Wilykit and WilyKat sees their mother and siblings. - Bengali is a childhood friend of Lion-O and Tygra -The Beserkers make their debut -Lynx-O makes an appearance and hopefully he doesn't die like he suppose to if season 2 was revived -The Lunataks makes a debut
X-Men 97 has shown us continuations can be done. Only issue is the rights for Thundercats are currently with Warner Bros and right now I'd trust them with animation about as much as I'd trust my nemesis CARMICHAEL!!! (ie not at all)
Thundercats 2011 had the potential to be one of the greatest animated TV shows of all time. It could've been the spiritual successor to Avatar the last airbender. If they could reboot Dune into a multi million dollar success and revive and continue X men 97. Then they can and should bring back and continue Thundercats 2011 on streaming. Maybe update the animation but keep the designs the same and get the original voice actors.
Not to mention that this was during the time when western animated action shows are beginning to die off (little exceptions) with replacing them with goofy light hearted shows with meaningful messages so cool animated shows where just canned too soon of they have to have a toy line to make profit which don’t go so well but that’s another story
I'd just like to point out that I never saw any advertisements for the toys nor did I see them on the shelves at any toy store when this show came out. So, somebody should've been fired for poor marketing.
Not all of the toys were awesome, the 6 inch figures and standard 4 inch figures DID sell well, in fact they would quickly sell out, leaving the pegs and shelves CLOGGED with the gimmick toys nobody wanted, but as long as they were there the stores wouldn't order new waves or replace the good stuff. If bandai concentrated on only making the good figures and play sets we might have seen an entirely different timeline

I'd rather see a continuation. They did with Young Justice and while it did have a cliffhanger like ending, it still had an arguably series conclusion.
Might have sold better if any stores stocked them. I saw them once, at a random Target - after the show was gone. I love the worldbuilding. Tying the other two franchises in, explaining why it was THIRD Earth. Though I'd head that instead of season 2a and 2b, this was seasons 2 and 3.

I loved this show and was so pissed it cancelled because toy money. I feel the s2 plans would need a bit more workshopping but I do wish it did happen so we have effin closure. None of their character arcs concluded at the end of the cliff hanger =3=. I didnt watch Roar but dont think it deserves all that hate. The animation was great. It was just really a bad idea to make it like Teen Titans Go though when it was the most polarizing show in CN back then. While also when 2011 was never concluded. If Roar was named anything else, it def wouldnt have gotten as much backlash.
While I would love for Thundercats 2011 to return, I really hope they get a "Star Wars/LotR" style trilogy, with Lion-o growing from naive impulsive teenager to great hero and king (obs: Iw ould prefer the reboot took inspiration from the 2011 and have Lion-O be a teenager rather than and adult with the mind of child from the 80's show).
Actually Liono and Willykat getting together In the original 80's cartoon would've made a lot sense because in that show Liono was a child in the body of an adult. Due to the malfunction of the cryo chambers Liono physically aged fast but didn't grow up.He was physically a grown man but mentally a literal child the same age as Willykat. Them developing a romance makes sense in that sinerio.

There is a decade time skip. So who cares if they fall in love since hey are now both adults. Many people in real life meet as kids and fall in love as adults. My grandma and grandpa had been friends as kids and only as adults did they fall in love and escape Europe together.
I may not be into the thunder cats. But, this is the one that exposed me to thunder cats, aside from James Rolfe's retrospective of it. And this is my favorite version of it. It fixes a few issues the original show had, like making Snarf less annoying. I was so disappointed that it didn't continue with another season! They need to bring this show back again. It was awesome! I loved the anime style to it.

Live action series / movie What I really want to see is a story that shows us that different cultures with different morals and different values can get along . To send us the massage that "immoral to us may be perfectly acceptable for others" and that two or more opposing vastly different cultures can co-exist I really like the idea of making a series that has a focus on how weird and vastly different but still amazing other cultures can be. And I feel by having an alien race be the last of there kind and having them split up and pass time we could have each member of the group form whole new cultures that but heads but find common ground.
I don't know why wb hates Thundercats but if there was a new head of their animation Department, one that actually care about animation and a actual Thundercats fan this is what I would do 1. Continue the 2011 series as a comic book series (I don't think that they would revive a series that was canceled a decade ago) 2. Make a new series by the people who did the TMNT 2012 and Avengers EMH 3. Theatrical movie live action or animated 4. Do a Thundercats/He man Special based on the comic by DC Thundercats is a franchise that delivers more love than what their doing.

Shame this show never got a continuation as it had a lot of great potential (minus the plan romance between Lion O and Willy Kit which just sounds wrong and makes it even more awkward now knowing the controversy behind Will Friedle), at least Cartoon Network should’ve done a TV movie to wrap up the story similar to the likes of Transformers Prime Predacons Rising. As for the upcoming movie I am interested to see how Adam Wingard will handle it as he did a really good job with both Godzilla vs Kong movies and hopefully he can help bring back the franchise to relevance again.

He was a character that took too much for granted even though he had his father’s and Cheetara’s love and respect. It would be cool if Thundercats 2011 continued and got finished, but I think that ship has sailed. It would be simpler to just create a new show that took more inspiration from the original show and sprinkled in ideas from 2011 into it. The 80s show is still the most popular version of the franchise to this day and Thundercats as a brand hasn't been able to capture the cultural zeitgeist like TMNT and Transformers have done over the decades with new shows, toys, etc. Thundercats need to bring something fresh to the table, either through a movie or something else that captures the hearts of kids. I love the two animated shows to death, but after seeing most modern continuations/reboots of beloved franchises I honestly prefer them to be left untouched.
The only reason I could watch and enjoy this series was because of the dvds, here in Mexico it was VERY HARD to find when it air. Also... and I am sorry to say this, but there were a lot of episodes focusing on the raccoon Tookit (4 to 5 IIRC) I would prefer to see the second season air and end it there, because Thundercats not having Mum-ra is like Super Mario not having Bowser (ally or enemy). Also... I was not aware of the supposed romance between Lion-o and Willykit during the 10 year time skip, and to be honest... I'm ok with it, since Cheetara was older than Lion-o and Pumira was too forced, plus Willykit was not a kid anymore so it is ok.
So two thoughts: 1) I don’t think the thundercats franchise works for a movie. I think it’s got too much lore behind it and is a very niche audience. Also the mix of sci fi and fantasy elements doesn’t typically work for global live action audience. So I think one or the other would be heavily curtailed in live action. Also as good as cgi is, thundercats is action based and animation is still the best medium for action. Secondly and a minor point: Thundercats roar does not deserve the hate it gets. I strongly believe much of that hate comes from the terrible crossover with Teen titans go that insults the viewers and fans of the original, even if the voice of the original lion-o reprises his role to do it. If you go into thundercats roar with an open mind it is a very funny, extremely creative and simultaneously a wonderful homage to the original. The animation is stellar….i know the designs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but like OK KO the minimalist design allow for so much dynamic movement and direction. My recommendation: don’t start on episode 1. Pick a random episode mid season and just watch a few episodes. I think if you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
IDK if you've ever talked about it, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. Ran one season in 1987, amazing show, WAY ahead of its time for a live action kids show, killed after a cliffhanger ender.
One thing about this doesn't make sense to me - the whole "Lion-O goes into the Book of Omens to train and comes back out years later, Tygra and Cheetara are married with kids, Kit and Kat are grown up, etc." thing is the exact plot of the short-lived TC comics that came out in the early aughts! Those were supposed to be a more mature/gritty continuation of the original series; but it only ran for a few issues before being canceled because no one liked the story! So why would they recycle that? Some of the other ideas here are odd, too, like Pumyra being turned into a bug and killed. Would anyone in the audience have liked that? I sure wouldn't have. Honestly, I wonder if they actually had a plan for the second season or were still brainstorming ideas when the ax came down. And when people asked them what was supposed to happen, they just tossed out the ideas they remembered (it's been over a decade now, after all), and some dim memories of those comics got mixed in with the rest by accident.
It seems like the base premise, but executed differently, with hopefully less dark n' gritty nonsense. It's normal for show creators to write down ideas and plan ahead for future seasons, but these ideas often change once they actually go into production. For instance, no way would Cartoon Network allow Bug Pumyra or that whole storyline with Slythe and Lynx-O.

Like I said, they were still coming up with ideas when the show was cut short and never actually had a final plan. But it still makes no sense to redo the comic's story; I really think it must have been a memory slip thing.
The kid was like 13 and liono was like 18 when they first met in season 1. So in a decade, they are full fledged adults and who cares if they fall in love. People need to chilll.

While I did like Thundercats 2011, I feel there was a significant drop off in quality of story and episodes in the later half of the first season. Maybe it was more that I was willing to give them the benefit of a doubt up til then but around like ep 13 or so, it seemed no character arc stuck and the characters weren't really changing. There was too much focus on some characters and not enough focus on others. I can't even REMEMBER if Cheetara had ANY character arc other then Lion O thinking she liked him but PSYKE she didn't. On a side tangent I remember reading a forum when this issue was addressed to a writer and he replied with 'well we just decided to imply a bunch of moments Cheetara and Tygra had without really showing any' which then someone pointed out to him how bad that is to do in writing and apparently the writer got really ticked. After reading what was planned for season 2 I'm almost kind of glad it got canceled. I guess my wish would be for netflix to get the rights to Thundercats to do either a reboot or a continuation like Masters of the Universe Revelation.

Outside of the cats fighting Grune's spirit, I don't like most of these plans. Too many time skips and weird decisions. Considering how much I love the one season we got, I'm sort of glad it was canceled. How could this series have lasted five seasons?! Two are enough.

WilyKit becoming Queen of the Elephants seems a bit weird to me, but since we didn't a season 2 to help explain this development I'm gonna assume this meant she became one of their spiritual leaders. Helping to bridge the divide between the different species/tribes. While her brother WilyKat kept the criminal element in check as the King of Thieves.
there is another factor to it being canceled, cartoon network put it in a dead time slot in order to kill its ratings as from what ive heard and seen they didn't like it and tried to claim it had bad ratings. The other issue is that it wasn't that the toys didn't sell well but that the distributors didn't send them out, something i don't know what when wrong and distribution was massively delayed until nearly or after the series ended and by then they had already been marked as discounted.
I loved Thundercats 2011 and would really like for it to get a second season. Even if it can't get the five season plan, a second season would have a chance to ends things properly.
What killed ThunderCats 2011 was the mid season break.
Don't get me wrong, the lacklustre toy sales were the death blow to the show, but what brought it to its knees was the break. There was a couple of months between episodes and you can't build up any momentum when that happens.
There were other factors, Cartoon Network decided that they would play with the time slot. Back then it was the birth of downloadable media and the time slot a show was first broadcast still was important to catch viewers attention. More importantly all the viewing figures and ratings used depend on that first watch. moving it around the way they did lost peoples attention.
ThunderCats 2011 was yet another good show with lots of promise killed off by ignorant producers who were far happier churning out cheap rubbish to fill time slots than actually giving us good media
I never thought of it that way. Yeah, it did feel weird to me that it started in the summer and didn't come back until a few months later. Plus, changing the premiere (of what was then considered season 2 at the time) to Saturday mornings was also a bad call. Not only does the morning feel less cinematic than night, but fewer people are up by then. My sleep schedule back then still allowed me to be up for it, but even then, I don't think a big chunk of the older fanbase was up around then.

Remove the whole Lion-O getting together with the little girl and I'd be interested. Seriously, there is NO CONTEXT IN THE WORLD that can ever make that okay.
To be fair, she would have been 10 years older than in the first season so not a little kid anymore, but, yeah, it would have still been a bit iffy.
I mean, both would have been adults by that time. Lion-O was still in his teens when the show started, so both of them would have been within the age range of 18-29 at the most if they were 8 and 19 respectively at the start of the story. Still a big gap, but not exactly unheard of (my parents have a 13 year age gap, which is wider). Most likely both would have been in their 20s, since I can't image WilyKit and WilyKat to be less than 10 years old and Lion-O to be older than 17 or 18.
It's a bit hard to imagine how it would work out in practice considering that WIlyKit has always been depicted as a child and we never saw how the show would tackle it, but in terms of age range it's not that weird.

Honestly, if Cartoon Network wasn't going to honor their deal and give us two seasons, they should've at least had the decency to make a movie or tv special to wrap the story up.
At the time they where most focusing on getting their feet back after a crap late 2000’s and they just did adventure time and onward so you can’t argue with that plus action cartoons where dying out

I'd love to see Thundercats 2011 continue. It was my intro to Thundercats and I think it shows the potential for the franchise to rid itself of the "80's toy commercial" moniker and go all in on being an epic fantasy.

Knowing the fact that if Thundercats 2011 was to have a second season it would detail "Mumm-Ra's hand in the creation of the Snarfs, Slithe's history with Lynx-O (which would also explain how Slithe and the Lizards sided with Mumm-Ra), Mumm-Ra tricking the ThunderKittens into bringing the Sword of Omens to him, so that he could send them to El Dara, and Pumyra being transformed into a wicked insectoid monster on a mission to capture the ThunderCats". But if it was to be revived, is it possible to make some changes, come up with new ideas, and scrap what was meant to happen on the show? I mean I was shocked that Pumyra betrayed Lion-O and sided with Mumm-ra, but I feel devastated that she will die if the season was to continued. After doing a lot of thinking wandering if it was possible for Thundercats 2011 to be revived I thought of some ideas that I think would fit.
- While for the final stone, Tygra and the other Thundercats were concerned about Lion-O after the event that happened with him and Pumyra and finding ways to cheer him up.
- Cheetara and Wilykit feel underappreciated and meet the warrior maidens show what they got to prove themselves to the guys.
- Cheetara and Pumyra have a battle and they argue on who's the guilty one of breaking Lion-O's heart.
- Crossover Episode (SIlverhawks and/or TigerSharks)
- Pumyra Redemption Arc (lets just hope she don't get killed off)
- Wilykit and WilyKat sees their mother and siblings.
- Bengali is a childhood friend of Lion-O and Tygra
-The Beserkers make their debut
-Lynx-O makes an appearance and hopefully he doesn't die like he suppose to if season 2 was revived
-The Lunataks makes a debut
X-Men 97 has shown us continuations can be done. Only issue is the rights for Thundercats are currently with Warner Bros and right now I'd trust them with animation about as much as I'd trust my nemesis CARMICHAEL!!! (ie not at all)
Thundercats 2011 had the potential to be one of the greatest animated TV shows of all time. It could've been the spiritual successor to Avatar the last airbender. If they could reboot Dune into a multi million dollar success and revive and continue X men 97. Then they can and should bring back and continue Thundercats 2011 on streaming. Maybe update the animation but keep the designs the same and get the original voice actors.
Not to mention that this was during the time when western animated action shows are beginning to die off (little exceptions) with replacing them with goofy light hearted shows with meaningful messages so cool animated shows where just canned too soon of they have to have a toy line to make profit which don’t go so well but that’s another story

I'd just like to point out that I never saw any advertisements for the toys nor did I see them on the shelves at any toy store when this show came out. So, somebody should've been fired for poor marketing.

I think I did see some of the toys… once… it was a small section.
Not all of the toys were awesome, the 6 inch figures and standard 4 inch figures DID sell well, in fact they would quickly sell out, leaving the pegs and shelves CLOGGED with the gimmick toys nobody wanted, but as long as they were there the stores wouldn't order new waves or replace the good stuff. If bandai concentrated on only making the good figures and play sets we might have seen an entirely different timeline

Yes! Christopher Yost did a detailed breakdown of how season 3 could've gone, episode by episode. You could even touch on how different the latter half of season 2 was going to be before Jeph Loeb and Man of Action changed things.
I'd rather see a continuation. They did with Young Justice and while it did have a cliffhanger like ending, it still had an arguably series conclusion.

I loved this show and was so pissed it cancelled because toy money. I feel the s2 plans would need a bit more workshopping but I do wish it did happen so we have effin closure. None of their character arcs concluded at the end of the cliff hanger =3=.
I didnt watch Roar but dont think it deserves all that hate. The animation was great. It was just really a bad idea to make it like Teen Titans Go though when it was the most polarizing show in CN back then. While also when 2011 was never concluded. If Roar was named anything else, it def wouldnt have gotten as much backlash.

While I would love for Thundercats 2011 to return, I really hope they get a "Star Wars/LotR" style trilogy, with Lion-o growing from naive impulsive teenager to great hero and king (obs: Iw ould prefer the reboot took inspiration from the 2011 and have Lion-O be a teenager rather than and adult with the mind of child from the 80's show).
Actually Liono and Willykat getting together In the original 80's cartoon would've made a lot sense because in that show Liono was a child in the body of an adult. Due to the malfunction of the cryo chambers Liono physically aged fast but didn't grow up.He was physically a grown man but mentally a literal child the same age as Willykat. Them developing a romance makes sense in that sinerio.

There is a decade time skip. So who cares if they fall in love since hey are now both adults. Many people in real life meet as kids and fall in love as adults. My grandma and grandpa had been friends as kids and only as adults did they fall in love and escape Europe together.

I may not be into the thunder cats. But, this is the one that exposed me to thunder cats, aside from James Rolfe's retrospective of it. And this is my favorite version of it. It fixes a few issues the original show had, like making Snarf less annoying. I was so disappointed that it didn't continue with another season! They need to bring this show back again. It was awesome! I loved the anime style to it.

D. Going off of what worked for TMNT make a New 3rd Thundercats series that has a whole other back story then coenact it to a multiverse where both shows are canon and wrap every thing up in a crossover movie

What I really want to see is a story that shows us that different cultures with different morals and different values can get along . To send us the massage that "immoral to us may be perfectly acceptable for others" and that two or more opposing vastly different cultures can co-exist I really like the idea of making a series that has a focus on how weird and vastly different but still amazing other cultures can be. And I feel by having an alien race be the last of there kind and having them split up and pass time we could have each member of the group form whole new cultures that but heads but find common ground.
I don't know why wb hates Thundercats but if there was a new head of their animation Department, one that actually care about animation and a actual Thundercats fan this is what I would do
1. Continue the 2011 series as a comic book series (I don't think that they would revive a series that was canceled a decade ago)
2. Make a new series by the people who did the TMNT 2012 and Avengers EMH
3. Theatrical movie live action or animated

Shame this show never got a continuation as it had a lot of great potential (minus the plan romance between Lion O and Willy Kit which just sounds wrong and makes it even more awkward now knowing the controversy behind Will Friedle), at least Cartoon Network should’ve done a TV movie to wrap up the story similar to the likes of Transformers Prime Predacons Rising.
As for the upcoming movie I am interested to see how Adam Wingard will handle it as he did a really good job with both Godzilla vs Kong movies and hopefully he can help bring back the franchise to relevance again.
I really wished Thundercats had gotten a Season 2. I really liked it and I know this is gonna be mean to say, but I would’ve liked to have seen Tygra die. He was a character that took too much for granted even though he had his father’s and Cheetara’s love and respect. I assure you, the moment Lion-O would meet his son, he would get jealous and think his brother was trying to gain all favor with Bengali. 🙄

It would be cool if Thundercats 2011 continued and got finished, but I think that ship has sailed. It would be simpler to just create a new show that took more inspiration from the original show and sprinkled in ideas from 2011 into it. The 80s show is still the most popular version of the franchise to this day and Thundercats as a brand hasn't been able to capture the cultural zeitgeist like TMNT and Transformers have done over the decades with new shows, toys, etc.
Thundercats need to bring something fresh to the table, either through a movie or something else that captures the hearts of kids. I love the two animated shows to death, but after seeing most modern continuations/reboots of beloved franchises I honestly prefer them to be left untouched.

The only reason I could watch and enjoy this series was because of the dvds, here in Mexico it was VERY HARD to find when it air.

I would prefer to see the second season air and end it there, because Thundercats not having Mum-ra is like Super Mario not having Bowser (ally or enemy). Also... I was not aware of the supposed romance between Lion-o and Willykit during the 10 year time skip, and to be honest... I'm ok with it, since Cheetara was older than Lion-o and Pumira was too forced, plus Willykit was not a kid anymore so it is ok.

So two thoughts:
1) I don’t think the thundercats franchise works for a movie. I think it’s got too much lore behind it and is a very niche audience. Also the mix of sci fi and fantasy elements doesn’t typically work for global live action audience. So I think one or the other would be heavily curtailed in live action.
Also as good as cgi is, thundercats is action based and animation is still the best medium for action.
Secondly and a minor point: Thundercats roar does not deserve the hate it gets. I strongly believe much of that hate comes from the terrible crossover with Teen titans go that insults the viewers and fans of the original, even if the voice of the original lion-o reprises his role to do it.
If you go into thundercats roar with an open mind it is a very funny, extremely creative and simultaneously a wonderful homage to the original. The animation is stellar….i know the designs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but like OK KO the minimalist design allow for so much dynamic movement and direction.
My recommendation: don’t start on episode 1. Pick a random episode mid season and just watch a few episodes. I think if you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The romance between Lion-o and Wilykit sounds quite interesting.
IDK if you've ever talked about it, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. Ran one season in 1987, amazing show, WAY ahead of its time for a live action kids show, killed after a cliffhanger ender.
One thing about this doesn't make sense to me - the whole "Lion-O goes into the Book of Omens to train and comes back out years later, Tygra and Cheetara are married with kids, Kit and Kat are grown up, etc." thing is the exact plot of the short-lived TC comics that came out in the early aughts! Those were supposed to be a more mature/gritty continuation of the original series; but it only ran for a few issues before being canceled because no one liked the story! So why would they recycle that? Some of the other ideas here are odd, too, like Pumyra being turned into a bug and killed. Would anyone in the audience have liked that? I sure wouldn't have. Honestly, I wonder if they actually had a plan for the second season or were still brainstorming ideas when the ax came down. And when people asked them what was supposed to happen, they just tossed out the ideas they remembered (it's been over a decade now, after all), and some dim memories of those comics got mixed in with the rest by accident.
It seems like the base premise, but executed differently, with hopefully less dark n' gritty nonsense. It's normal for show creators to write down ideas and plan ahead for future seasons, but these ideas often change once they actually go into production. For instance, no way would Cartoon Network allow Bug Pumyra or that whole storyline with Slythe and Lynx-O.

Like I said, they were still coming up with ideas when the show was cut short and never actually had a final plan. But it still makes no sense to redo the comic's story; I really think it must have been a memory slip thing.
The kid was like 13 and liono was like 18 when they first met in season 1. So in a decade, they are full fledged adults and who cares if they fall in love. People need to chilll.

While I did like Thundercats 2011, I feel there was a significant drop off in quality of story and episodes in the later half of the first season. Maybe it was more that I was willing to give them the benefit of a doubt up til then but around like ep 13 or so, it seemed no character arc stuck and the characters weren't really changing. There was too much focus on some characters and not enough focus on others. I can't even REMEMBER if Cheetara had ANY character arc other then Lion O thinking she liked him but PSYKE she didn't.
On a side tangent I remember reading a forum when this issue was addressed to a writer and he replied with 'well we just decided to imply a bunch of moments Cheetara and Tygra had without really showing any' which then someone pointed out to him how bad that is to do in writing and apparently the writer got really ticked.
After reading what was planned for season 2 I'm almost kind of glad it got canceled. I guess my wish would be for netflix to get the rights to Thundercats to do either a reboot or a continuation like Masters of the Universe Revelation.
Oh boy. There's going to be A LOT to unpack with this one. I won't give away much, but all I'll say is that you are going to be *GLAD* Season 2 didn't happen! Although considering what we know now about Will Friedle, I guess it only makes sense for Lion-O to be every ounce as disgusting as the man himself is.

Outside of the cats fighting Grune's spirit, I don't like most of these plans. Too many time skips and weird decisions. Considering how much I love the one season we got, I'm sort of glad it was canceled. How could this series have lasted five seasons?! Two are enough.
