- Mean Girls cast members Tee Boyich and Ashley De La Rosa perform the songs, "Stupid with Love", then "Someone Gets Hurt" (begins at 5:20) and then "I'd Rather Be Me" (begins at 10:28) as part of Broadway Under The Stars performance at the Time Warner Center in NYC on 12/10/2018 :-)

lmao I hadn't heard about the butler one, but that's just one example of ashley improv-ing something like that. one time erika's normal wig came off during the revenge party quick-change, and they had to lower the curtain to fix it. When they started again and ashley entered again, she added, "I love your hair!" before her normal lines. Another time the halloween costume didn't come off, and ashley entered and said, "Cady! ...It's halloween still..."
@@elizabethtarsky3727 There was also one time during Revenge party when Erika did not notice she was accidentally half naked, so Grey and Barrett gave her Janice's jacket. Then Ashley came and said : "Hi, nice jacket".

I saw Ashley as Gretchen and boy she was incredible. I've only ever seen her as Gretchen, and she did such a wonderful job bringing out Gretchen's insecurity and anxiety and god I just really love the character and what Ashley did with her. Also as soon as I saw her start singing I was like "DAmmmmmmmmmnnnnn" She went into Regina mode so fast.
It’s funny that she could fill the Regina role because Gretchen would be able to (in context) fill in for Regina
Yeah, that’s the thing about professional actors and actresses... they gotta be good. If they can’t get into character quickly, they’d be out even faster lol

She’s so talented. It’s pretty hard to come up with something that makes some sense when you’re on stage under that much pressure.
ashley brings a different vibe to regina but i rlly like it! her vocal range is very impressive and she pulled off the song beautifully! tee as cady was good but i prefer erika, tee acted more like movie cady in my opinion. tee as janis is very different from barrett’s but i prefer barretts. tees janis is very wholesome instead of “bad ass”. tee and ashley r very talented!
6:30 it's like shes used to high notes! You can't see any struggle at all.

Okay I enjoy Tee as much as the next person she’s absolutely phenomenal as Janis HOWEVER, I feel as though Barrett has much more of an edge to her voice than Tee and I feel like Tee is more suited for Cady because she has a very Disney Princess vibe to her voice which fits Cady a lot more than it does Janis
Yeah, Tee wasn’t supposed to be a Janis standby, but they added it to her contract after that one time she had to fill for BWW with four hours notice lmao
Tee is GREAT at everything she stands by for, but not necessarily a perfect fit for any of the roles, which I think shows how HARD it is to understudy/swing/standby. You gotta be ready to do a bunch of stuff at the drop of a hat. Truly brave and wild!

I agree with this, but I do have to say that Tee choosing to rap/say those words is her trying to adapt to BWW and honestly, it is a pretty unique spin on the song. Tho hehe i still like the edge in BWW'S version of the song like you said
Janis sounds great but her voice is clearly damaged and she has to push her limits for I’d rather be me, which wouldn’t be difficult for her otherwise

I saw Mean Girls a few days ago and Ashley was playing Regina. She was phenomenal live. It was so amazing to see her and Barrett in the performance! If you see it live, I hope you get to see her as Regina!

They always put the most talented people as swings and understudies. These ladies are so talented and make me have so much respect for those that are in this profession.

They also change the line during "Apex Predator," when one of the ensemble members steps forward to talk about Regina being the prettiest girl in school and says, "I'm like, 'okay, white people.'" When there's a Regina of colour, the girl says "I'm like, 'yeah, white people, welcome to the future.'"
She wore a wig that had some slight light brownish/blonde highlights in it. But the wig was her hair color for the most part

Wow such talent! And amazing job for understudies to be as good the first cast, while having to learn more parts and not getting to play them that often either! #understudiesrule!
i like tee as cady because she really embodies that looser vibe at the beginning of the show, but still is really elegant and confident like cady later is. however, i don’t love her as janis. her vocals are great, but her acting is very over the top (not always a bad thing) but janis is a more nuanced role. but, regardless, i love tee so much and the rest of the understudies and swings

I did stupid with love for my grade 8 musical theatre exam and as with all songs I do for an exam, hated it afterwards and vowed to not sing it again, however this has changed my mind, it’s such fun to perform and Cady is an amazing character, wonderfully portrayed here!

I think that Tee (the blonde I’m pretty sure that’s her name) personalizes the songs a LOT which isn’t necessarily bad but it messed them up a bit for me.

If everyone did the characters the same it’d be boring. Actors always use their own interpretations of the parts which doesn’t necessarily mean better or worse. It’s just down to the viewers preferences I guess. I love Tee and think it’s crazy how she can play all different roles equally well! Xx

Tee definitely suits Cady much more then she suits Janis, she brings indivuality to both roles. Ashley's performance was great but felt like it was missing a bit of the Regina presence, however that could just be because that song is normally done with such great staging and choreography and interaction with Aaron so I'd love to see her do it full out.

they're also swings, fun fact. they're basically understudies for multiple characters, which productions use for lack of people or if the cast is very much active and doesn't really need individual backups. had the urge to spit out a bunch of facts, sorry.

When I went there was 2 understudies Devon hadsell as gretchen (she sounded amazing just like Ashley park she fit the role so amazing also this was before Ashley park left she just didn't come) and gianna yanelli as Janis I think gianna sounds amazing but barrett has a very different vocal range from her

It was at an event in New York City, and it was the original cast of 'Mean Girls' (the women preforming are understudies/swings for some of the lead roles)
I don’t think that Tee overacts but I think her Janis is angrier. I think it’s good that there are multiple different takes.
Also I feel like tee doesn't rlly fit as a Janis Sarkisian at all she fits the role of cady perfectly that's just my opinion
