I'm a Geordie born and bred, and so proud of my heritage and my roots but nothing came of the March apart from our respect and proud feeling for our forefathers, the changes and survival of the yards came because of the second world war , sad but true

You know the sad thing is... we are proud to remember... but happy to let it slip down the same road

I lived in Frobisher Street in Jarrow in the 70's and lived below a lady who's husband Percy St Laurent Hill who worked in the stores at Clerk Chapmans her husband was a union man and while the men marched he and the union leaders travelled in comfort by train Jenny Hill was in her late 70's told me many stories about those times

The northern people of the Jarrow march were of strong character with steely determination
to claim what is rightfully theirs , We may well area similar situation take place today given the present situation with the EU .

Courageous crusades only occurred in a Democratic country. Not in China or in Congo.

The same thing could easily happen today. If we face another deep recession, the North East of England would be one of the worst hit areas and I doubt the politicians in London would be any more helpful than they were last time. The marchers were brave men all the same.
