Yes sometimes small amount of mercury may come out from top if we not close the lock....... So better to close lock before closing apparatus and this will also prevent mercury spilling in case of tube breakage

Actually I just bought the sphygmomanometer today and in my bag I think I kept it in inverted direction with switch open so there might be possiblity of spillage I insinuated. Isn't the glass column completely sealed, because mercury spillage can be very hazardous to health. That's why I feared that it might have been spilled out but I have not seen any signs of spillage in my bag or box of it. If it came out it should be seen somewhere right ?

In a perfect condition instrument, can mercury come out from the top of glass tube, if we invert the apparatus, when the lock is not closed ?

you can get it from medical /surgical equipment shop......usually located near hospital .........around 50/100 rs
