The funny thing is that this programme was not the last of the last century nor indeed of the last millenium. The Gregorian calendar that we all use does not have a year 0, so the last year of both the 20th century and the 2nd millenium was 2000, not 1999.
well first I was going to wonder what to do with my day and then this popped up in my feed, I'll sit here and enjoy what Bowman Hath. brung. Bigg Thanx!!
Well we think of poor old Gove when Deedes admits to Purple Hearts. They were legal in 1955 and of course they all took them during the war which I think Deedes was in. The Telegraph was at it’s absolutely most two-faced when he ran it. I think I’m right in saying the DT actually bought « Private Eye » at this time. One needs to spend some time contemplating the notion of « Private Eye » being owned by the « Daily Telegraph » before the complete absurdity of it sinks in. There has been no serious attempt in any medium to launch a vehicle to undermine the establishment by exposing undesirable truths since this time. I think I’m the only one still full time at it.

Thanks for posting.
Probably one of the most painful of these shows. The bonus for me is I remember watching this when I used to live in London.
..thanks.
Brilliant.
It might just be me, but I strongly suspect Mr Deedes has far worse to confess to.
Never saw a man more afraid of what was said next!

Bill Deedes is very quick off the mark on this..
Angus is way too twitchy.
There are woman only clubs and hotels. But who cares.
