@@GuysPlayingWithTools I got mine (NEW) for FREE courtesy of Amazon. I purchased it from Amazon, but had trouble starting it (warm restart). Started a "return", found out Amazon WILL NOT accept GASOLINE powered products. I called CS at Amazon and was told to keep it or donate it, but would issue a FULL REFUND! After "playing" with it, the engine became much easier to restart when warm. I SUSPECT the engine was "tight" needing some "break in", after running for about 10hrs (total) the starting issues disappeared! So, I got a BRAND NEW edger for FREE, had Prime shipping! What a deal!!!!!!
The same edger was sold in Australia as a Parklander PEY-31Y, I stumbled on to this video, thanks for your help. Can you show the on/off mechanism as mine has broke off & i can't remember how to start it. Cheers.
Moving the throttle levero up will allow it to start if everything is working correctly. It grounds the coil and turns off the motor when it's all the way down. Move the lever all the way up to choke it for starting and should start if everything else is good. Let me know if it works 👍
OK, I subscribed! I did exactly what you did and still no start clean and ran wire through jet and tube blew through just like you did after pullin about fifty times I took apart again but I noticed no gas inside so my question should tube gas line is connected to should a wire pass all the way through or not? I tried spraying carburetor cleaner in it still no go and sparkplug is try, any suggestions! Thanks
You shouldn't have to pull it more than once or twice. I am going to give you the steps I would do in this case. 1) I don't think this is your problem since you said the plug was dry but this is first for me, it's easy and quick. Check for spark. If you don't have a spark checker, take the plug out and hold it against the block while someone else pulls the cord(use gloves, it can shock you pretty good 🙂) If there is no spark, check the safety bail cable first, it's usually the culprit 2) Pull the carb and see if fuel is flowing down to the carb from the tank, it could be a clogged line or screen filter in the tank. If not, you can blow backwards into the tank using the fuel line to clear it but you are going to want to flush the tank to get the stuff out. It's only a couple bolts to pull the tank on this one. 3) take the float and needle off the carb and blow into the fuel line connector, it should blow reasonably easy. If not, soak the carb in carb cleaner overnight and try again. 4) Take the jet and emulsion tube out and blow into the hole, it should blow through pretty easily, if not, soak the carb overnight in carb cleaner. I use an ultrasonic with Pine Sol to get out of soaking things overnight. It's faster and works better but a big expense if you are only working on one machine. Side note: Carb cleaner isn't great starter fluid, the propellant is more flammable than the fluid for 90% of them. I expect good things, let me know how it comes out.👍
Hey I need a new carburetor it I can’t find the right one but you have the exact one I need…where do I find it? If you could help that would be great!!
Sorry it took a while, I just got a new trailer and I was in process of getting it ready for highway use. I almost never replace bowl type carbs and this one was no exception, it was a clean up. Unless it's physically damaged you can usually clean the jets and they are good to go. I *think* this one would be a match for that motor, get a good look and make sure everything is in the right place before ordering. www.amazon.com/MOTOALL-Carburetor-Generator-Powermate-PWLE0799F2N/dp/B08HYYC9TR/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3899RC4WCU1WT&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.2WZPfXJgEL4vbIQ6Elg-YYtI7PuxX7iifyw7XIBJ2jo7WpMk4WXtURXdlsyWiRRTB_U5emk-s05AizyKWQKMr7T6gmkXpdsH4vPalzXma1wGAC_gdqf5uD-QxsxalGtYRJKzjhSQ67rp6L3oggrrZs_dE3cqhptUFtx70X7YMSIUHxPlTTCPS1boUnuEFPEKo-l2fk3xhXTW7M9sIDuFFOrW6Vol9VVpszO42MFpHfA.7SuReQVKHmpG_Dk0deJ1s6fyzGQe1he8q8uFUSpxv8c&dib_tag=se&keywords=southland%2Bedger%2Bcarb&qid=1723755919&sprefix=southland%2Bedger%2Bcarb%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-1&th=1
IF you could ever find the right location and open up a 10 MM socket mine you could be a zillionaire in a week. Gone are the days of the bullet proof flathead Briggs motors but the fixers are making killings because of alcohol in fuel, but I guess everybody has to pay the light bill somehow. Happy weekend and don't roast!
No kidding! I keep my tools very organized only because I am a little OCD about being able to blindly reach over and know exactly where each roll is. I bought 3 edgers thinking "3 videos. Yay". The best of the bunch(yellow McLane) only had old gas, started right up after flushing it and putting new gas in.
Just proves you don't have to be Weiner Von Bunn to get stuff going. I still think the idea of a 10mm socket mine is a good one. And I put mine into an old tote unless I'm going to be into the same stuff the next day. Then I let them be where I need them on the return.@@GuysPlayingWithTools
@lewiemcneely9143 Sometimes, the problem is little. I could have made an old gas video but decided against it. I felt the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I thought about the idea of not putting the tools away when I am done for the day 🤣 (maybe I am more than a little OCD)
Nothing wrong with OCD as long as it ain't me. And it's easier to leave my specific stuff out when I know I've GOT to work on it next but I leave the minimum amount out because you just never know when you have to grab it all up and GO! And an old gas video is good ANY time!@@GuysPlayingWithTools
I can't imagine leaving tools out of place. I wrecked a little screwdriver trying to pry something and had to go get a new one, even though I had 3 similar screwdrivers on the rack right next to it... the empty spot was driving me crazy. I will see about backing into an old gas video with the McLane of maybe wait until the next one comes along
I had a South land walk behind push mower back in the day got it from rose's department store in Griffin GA that Edger that you have.bill 💵💸 is a one off style of edger
@robertmailhos8159 I think it's Japanese based on the name. I try not to call Chinese motors junk(even though some address) because all of our favorite brands are quickly moving to Chinese motors... sigh
Nice little edger Bill. I cant imagine what a shop would charge him to service it. Probably more than what its worth. 💲✌🇺🇸
That's how I got it. He didn't want to pay a shop for the 3rd straight Spring and GAVE IT AWAY FREE 😳
I doubt a shop would charge $280 (Amazon) to clean a SIMPLE carburetor!

Very informative video. Thanks for uploading! Could you do a video showing how to adjust the governor on this engine? THANK YOU!!
Thanks 👍
What are you going to adjust? Is the motor cycling up and down?
Really enjoyed it bill
Thanks Jason. This one was a little "fiddlly" but fun to do

Great video. I can't get the spring on. Agghhhh......
The recoil spring? Search my channel. I have to fool with them pretty often and I have found a way to do them quick and easy
