- How to float fish a river has always been a request for The Totally Awesome Fishing Show. And in this AWESOME episode, Graeme & son Mike Pullen get the footage big time!! They film an epic 45 minute show covering some of the traditional float fishing techniques and tips that Graeme has used to great effect when working on his many fishing articles. This father and son team get so many fish they should carry a "008 - License to catch!" And who would have thought you could get Grayling on the feed using just bread and bran. This is the longest, full length film the "Awesome" team have ever uploaded to UA-cam - and judging by the massive rise in their subscribers list, it seems every angler wants to get a piece of the 'free to watch' action. They are the leading light in all-round fishing and the Totally Awesome Fishing Show now has a dedicated cult following of anglers keen to catch all species. It's straight, raw fishing tips and techniques - so when is the next episode? And what will they catch??

I've watching this film countless times. And it never seams to get boring.
That first grayling IS an absolute beauty!! And, so was that bootfull of maggotts!
I do like this fella.
I started fishing again after 27yrs and things have changed since I fished as a lad.
This man talks my language, what you might call.. Bollocks free speak !
Fishing how it should be without all the commercial rubbish and the first thing I did when I started up again was make my own floats. For me that's part of the alchemy of it. Superb video guys.. much appreciated :0)
No, I don't use the method feeder on a river, its for stillwaters really. In fact I don't use it all really, just my own techniques. Glad you like the Show. More coming. Tell others. Lots still don't know of all the info and films we put up.
I usually start to shot the Avon bodied floats with bb then maybe add number 6 if I want it lower in the water. Don't forget a heavy bait like a lobworm will often pull the float too deep, so with big baits you might want to under-shot it to allow for the bait's weight
Thanks for the back-pat.We work really hard on the episodes and a lot goes into the editing, so keep spreading the word about the show, we are already aiming to take over the planet as the biggest fishing show ever. Two more new films done just hours ago, so plenty more to come !!
Nice to see Graeme's float box is just like the box I inherited off my Great Grandad. Pain in the arse old men!
You can't fish in the close season .We filmed this episode last season, then held it back to give everyone a "boost" if they had the close season blues. Of course we probably made it worse as every time we watch it we want June 16th to come round quicker ! You can't beat good river fishing with a float. Its awesome. More brand new films coming.Watch the time ticker on our website.(Double smiley face !!)
This show is TV level quality. Probably better because its all natural and doesnt seem forced. Awesome work guys, thanks!
Great, useful, technical info, Graeme. Thank You!
Tried them ages ago. Said no money, go away and find a sponsor, they might then consider it.So I did find a sponsor...ME ! we put them on UA-cam so everyone can tap into them 24/7 .Better than TV ,with programmes that only get the occasional repeat. With the "Tube" you can watch your favourite programme any time you want. I rarely watch TV now(Except for the weather, and that's never good)
fantastic to see fishing vid's that have not been sponsored by the latest release of the best ever tackle and bait, loving the traditional approach guys but a pair of gum boots each would help, now i know why mum complains lol
Keep the videos coming mate...me and the little man love them..absolutely class.!
cant wait for summer to use these totally awesome tips! Well done the Pullen Pair! TAFishing
I loved it when you stood on the maggibox. I've done the exact same thing, it's a rush to get as many back in the box before the burrow into the mud.
44mins long.... Boom!
Time well spent. Still wanting more.
Hi guys a big thank you for all your hard work filming an behind the scenes, your episodes are really great content start to finish 😀

lovely to see the great relationship you have with your son...a chip of the aul block!
We use either depending of the particular fishery regulations
Absoultly brilliant guys!! Keep them coming!
I knew that when i searched for float fishing on rivers, one of your vids will come up Graeme

Greetings from Texas....Love you videos, keep them coming.
great effort as usual guys
Brill vid , I have had good fishing for grayling on the upper Severn , especially when it's cold , nothing better strolling up the river bank on a sunny late autumn morning ,
that is the best roach i have seen for a while- nice
Your videos help me so much! Thanks
Excellent video. Well done
Great video as usual!!
Nice demonstration. Thanks
Totally Awesome fish! Keep it up Guys!
Damn I love your videos :D It's a shame that we don't have so many fish in Poland. Again great videos, take care and good luck!
@@jonharry6293 True :) but not anglers. We still have net fishermans in our country which are fishing also for fish like roaches and breams. They are the main reason there is not a lot of good size fish in Poland. Our politics are exporting most of the fish to the foregin countrys. I know there is a lot of anglers who are eating everything they catch - thats crazy, but most of us are proud C&R entusiasts.
watching you on a river makes me so jealous i fish the Bristol avon at Keynsham and for the past 3 months its so flooded its impossible i will just have to watch you till the river is ready also its nice to see river fishing rather than the usual commercial fisheries its a lost art well done great vid
Great Video !!
great video guys very helpfull
Awesome video! Keep up the hard work!
I just love that intro😂😂😂
You are right. Quality.
Hi I am 14 and everyone that know legers for carp you guys have showed me that it is alot funner to float fish thank you
Cheers Chris!
Fly.Only because the rods are lighter and you get more scrap out of the fish.Plus there's the satisfaction of casting. Better watch the time ticker on our home page.Might be a surprise Monday night 7pm if you like trout.
thats totally awesome fishing
great video mike and Graeme I went fishing yesterday on a river and caught 6 chub and a trout!
Brilliant video really enjoying them keep on posting these fantastic vids
Love it
Yes,all round lakelands area.Bream, rudd, pike etc,and down at Limerick on Shannon for Salmon.
These videos are great keep fishing
Nice fish Michael! Keep catching and keep spreading the word
nice! i love how you catch and release :)
I guess some are stocked, but there is a natural head of wild browns right throughout the Hampshire Avon. Most rivers would be unable to support a big head of large trout as insects alone would not be enough protein to make them grow big. They would burn more energy chasing an insect than they would derive in protein
Hi wow im about to start having a go at river fishing as i live on the river irwell now and not fished it your tips will help a lot thanks
Thanks!
Cant beat catching big Dace on the stick to me it is the true art of fishing. If you ever get the chance try and get to the River Wye Graeme you would love it at Holme Lacy near Hereford.late October..Tight lines..
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
We return all river trout when we can and only keep trout from stillwaters. Plus we don't eat them.
great guys, them dace would love to have crack at them... well done guys awesome
Hey i'm a young angler and today i caught a 6lb brown trout whilst float fishing on the river with worms, just go's to show you can float fish in rivers. :)
cheers!
Thanks! We'll try and make some even longer ones!
please do tell...what was the stretch of the upper avon that you and your son fished ?.. just subscrbed to you, cant think why i have not found you before...brilliant show and excellent advice...
Yes we have some carp videos planned, keep a watch out for them
you guys make it look easy
You're a hoot Graeme.
Great video and what a days fishing.
Can you recommend any stretches on the Avon good for grayling which is not private?
Hi Jake, no the river stour is too fast. You need to keep your bait moving to locate the fish. Float fishing is the best way
wow! i love your show! best on youtube (sorry Matt Hayes). plz dont stop!
Thanks andy
Ideally you want the bait just tripping the bottom, or about 6 inches off. The current is slower near the river bed than on the surface, so easier for the fish to hold position. They don't want to fight extra current, so you need to put your bait right in their zone.
Hi TAF love your vids. .just getting back into fishing and want to go trotting but am struggling with depth I think, how deep in the water do I go with the bait...do you ever plumb the depth in rivers and canals?..hope you can help! cheers.
HI Graeme
Centrepin float fishing would make an interesting popular video, Your the best on youtube mate keep it up
Just awesome.... Can you do some basic tips like :the best time to go fishing, how to chose places from which you should fish ,etc... For salt water as well as rivers and lakes :D Just an informative video :D cheers from Montenegro!
I would stick with the barbless, the main thing is to keep your line tight at all times. Get a good disgorger to help get the hook out. If they are new hooks they should be sharp enough to catch.
Mostly a Masterpike by Ryobi. Very old, been broken and mended twice. Still catching I'm not a tackle tart as you'll see from the various films !! I work on the old principle, if its not broke...don't mend it. Good luck.
Great videos fellas, just wondering if you ever use centrepin reels when trotting?
Really enjoyed that........another great video. Was that a woodpecker I kept hearing in the background ????
hi, im interested in what reels you used i this video. thanks :)
you have very beatiful home
very nice Roach
Great video guys! Do you use the same technique on the bigger river?
Could well be,there are lots of woods opposite.Probably a Pied Woodpecker which do more "tree work" than the Green Woodpecker, which likes to work at ground level more.I know as I have both species in my garden at home.
Not into this type of fishing, but great video as usual! :)
They are either stocked, or at this size it is more likely to be an "escapee" from any trout farms on the system.
Yes,the same principle applies to floatfishing all rivers.
Great video. I am quite new to fishing literally two weeks now, but love it. Can I ask what strength line you are using? I've only got 4IB on at the moment. Thanks
4lb line should be OK if you are catching fish from 1lb up to about 10lbs in open water.
Brilliant, thank you, going to give trotting ago this weekend. Sure I will be referencing back to the video often :)
That's why I opted out of clubs, they generally have more rules than fish in the water ! Mind you a lot of day ticket venues have gone the same way. So I know where you are coming from. Sea fishing can be great fun, you just get bait and go !! A lot less hassle. Some fisheries seem to want your custom, but I'm sure they lose business by having too many "can't use" rules. Way of the modern world I'm afraid. I expect some people will want to ban our fishing show for giving out too many tips soon !
In the film you don't mention what Lb line you were using. Any recommendation on LB
You will also need a permit for wherever you fish. Check in at your local tackle shop in the area you intend trying. They will give you some tips and details.
My friend recently caught a 7 lb brown trout. It measured at 26 inches long
Fantastic fish caught there ,is that a private stretch of the river Avon ? It's one of the best rivers in the country, thanks for sharing it with all
Yes. Never got to fish it this year due to the floods
Thanks
thats an awesome river wish i would have a river like that here :)
For trout fishing which method do you prefer , bait or fly?
your excitment for fishing is so infectious, roll on the 16th.......
WOW! you are like an expert you should defiantly peruse that T.V dream as I would love to see you on TV as you make so much sense and really know what you are doing I personally think their is not enough fishing programmes on TV to help the younger generation like me, then there is you :) one question tho your amazing with a float but have you ever method feeded as if you have then I would like to know your tips for that?
