I don't know either but it's not necessarily a bad thing. When a singer really makes it, music usually starts to get boring. Remember what happened to Metallica for example. Staying indie instead means that you can do what you please with your music.

I have a theory about what is this about... Not sure, but I have a feeling that this is a song written by her "guardian angel" or something/someone that takes care of her, guide her. Sometimes he/she gives her clues about what she should do/should not do (Didn't I warn you not to? Didn't I warn you good?) and sometimes she couldn't understand or realize what the clues were (Didn't I say it slowly? Didn't I make it clear?). Even having someone to guide her steps, sometimes she felt alone and with no answers to her questions, having to deal and solve things by herself (You cut your teeth on the lack of answers, singing). After all, she would never know the existence of her angel (Well I've bled words onto a page for you, And you never knew my name) but knows somehow she is not alone.
The lyrics are sou ambiguous that can lead you to multiple interpretations... That's why I love this song so much. It has a transcendental feeling that makes it more than a song. It's a poem. Nothing commercial, for sure. Unique, different. Never found something like this.
Agree with you, songs like these are the only ones which should get airplay in a ideal world, along with Metal of course. Not the nonsensical stuff that makes it to the radio nowadays. This song has definitely some deep meaning and really got me the first time i came across it, Kygo's version at home and original while driving. And that voice is just unique.

i just keep hitting play - partially cos of the artistic images, and that i love the atmosphere in the video. But probably the most addictive about the video is the combination of fluorosent - al most alienlike paint - in combination with the slow beats and synths.. what can i say love the video and the song.

After listening to the Kygo remix over and over, I'm taking a break and listening to this version. The video is fantastic. Who'd believe it is from 2014?? Still fresh and it is nearly 2020...just to add, the flicflac remix is prob slightly better than Kygo's, just found it today.

I felt the same way! I had to listen to this song literally every morning before I went to work just to get in a positive mood! It has been on my brain for the last couple of days so I looked it up. And I still love this song so much! Never gets old.

Is it weird that I like the original more than the kygo remix? I feel like it evokes a lot more emotion tbh. Whereas the Kygo remix just gives you a moment of short lived happiness if that makes sense but this seems a lot more real/ personal.

And it seemed much more pleasing. And yes, in my opinion, more "unique". More original. Kygo's taking on this song did not surprise me as much as this did.
