imo the DD is the only Rolex worth going after, beyond that the world of watches (especially from Germany) have a TON to offer.
I picked up a blue one in bracelet last year. If you have a chance, you should check out their bracelet, it is extremely nice.
At first I was a bit concerned that it was going to be too thick on my wrist but it feels just fine. I have had this watch for a couple of months now, but I think it will take a very long time before I get tired of looking at this watch, especially the case back side. It it just stunningly, beautiful.
This is definitely my next piece. Been lurking the Glausette Original Panoinverse forever. Love em.
Glashutte Original is the German JLC.
Was looking at them in AD a few eels back. I was so drawn to them , mesmerising beauty , simply stunningly if your after something non utilitarian with a feel of something really special.
I far prefer Glashütte Original's dual-disc date wheel over Lange's "over-under" system. The few times I've seen a Lange I was struck by how much the uneven depth between the two digits bothered me (and the solid bar Lange uses between the digit windows seems to amplify it). Fantastic review of a gorgeous watch. Great work!

Anthony, that is an incredibly beautiful watch my brother. Personally, I’ve never seen a Glashutte Original in the metal. I’ve only seen still photographs of them. But your video really brings out certain details that the stills do not, like the finishing of the dial and movement. Thanks to Bernard Watch for letting you review the piece. So good to see someone who appreciate watches like I do (I'm kind of niche guy too) 😁. I bought a zenith el primero last year and I just ordered my senator excellence blue dial moon phase. A So much more interesting video that the RO/nautilus guy.
My weekly wear is a Senator Karree Moonphase that I adore. The stars on the moon complication never fail to get my attention, even after over a decade of ownership. Definitely more distinctive than anything Rolex offers.

It's a beauty J. My grail is the Lange 1 Grand Moon Phase , in platinum. God..what a watch...and the moon and stars are amazing. It's got to be the silver dial and platinum case tho, to match the silvery moon. I would not go for the rose gold models.
Nice watch...but I can't help but to wish it was a Lange 1 if I was wearing one. Lange 1 has always been my grail and I don't think this will satisfy that lust. This is a beautiful watch nonetheless. Great review btw!
2:43 It's not a regulator dial. It just has a seconds sub-dial. A regulator dial has all the hands separate. Check out the Glashutte model 1-58-04-04-04-04 and you'll see what I mean.
Not showing the actual moon of the moonphase is such a missed oportunity. I was genuinely curious how it looks (shine, contrast, detail).
Great review! I own this watch and agree with everything you said. It is a beauty inside out. The only slight complaint is the thickness, if I remember correctly its somewhere around 12.7mm which makes it a bit too thick to be a proper dress watch.
does it work with a tshirt or a Pique shirt?
This is exactly what kept me from buying this watch. I love the dial, the calibre, everything but I think it is a bit too thick to be a dress watch. If you look at the side of the watch it is not as elegant as e.g. a Cartier. This kept me from buying it. Other than that it is a beauty.
German watches are a bit on the thick side this , large lugs and simplistic dials screams German
Same thickness as a submariner, but it’s abit deceptive and might look a bit thicker because of the way the case is build. I find it however perfect enough to disappear under a cuff.
Correct 10mm is the benchmark standard for a 'dress watch'
Certainly packed value for under 10k. For thosse working toward a Lange, it could be an interim solution. Great value for money.
I love it, but love it’s brother, the PanoReserve, even more. Manual wind with a power reserve indicator in place of the moon phase indicator. A friend has one and he let me borrow it for a few weeks. I fell in love with it.
That model also appeals to me, being thinner and manual wind.
Glashutte Original is really something special...

Couldn’t agree more, I have this piece with green dial in steel. I own 3-AP’s to include a Jumbo 15202 ST as well as an F.P. Journe, but really appreciate this reference as it scratches the Lange itch I have after trading away my Zeitwerk 🌘
I have this JLC Gran Reverso and Rolex Explorer ii this gets more looks and Like J Anthony says in person its super nice Paid a bit over $7K

My attainable grail watch. It is a tad chunky for a dress watch, but i wint be throwing it out of bed for that. Its not as thick as my other watches and i manage to get them under a shirt cuff without isssue . Ive tried it on several times its amazing. When the time comes i'll be getting the green variety i think though.
I have this watch with a blue dial. Stunning on the wrist and under a suit.

I love the look of this watch, but it is too thick to wear as a dress watch. That said, it is a very interesting piece. For a dress watch, a Lange Saxonia 37mm is a better choice for a little more money. Or for similar prices, the JLC MUT Moon works for dressy occasions, being thinner and a fraction smaller.

Excellent video of this piece. Glashutte Original are NOT delicate watches...that thick 3/4 plate made of nickel german silver is more structurally rigid than brass ones used in Swiss watches and the full bridge on the movement with double swan neck regulation is also beefed up...This movement is built structurally better than Rolex watches with the GO's thicker parts...movement is 7mm height. They just are not in dive watch cases or they would be to heavy to wear. GO's are the best watches under 10k money can buy at any level. People just do not know about them..they are a small company that wants to sell watches to only conosoirs. Also the best part about GO you can get a new strap for like 240-260 bucks they don't rock you like the swiss brands that charge 400+to 500+ on straps.

Most watches with dual disc date usually go all the way to 39 and only then switch to 01. Does Glashutte do the same?
Love the brand and love fact it's German and near Lange too. Truly wonderful but not a fan of offset dails and moon phases either. Personally prefer the 'cheaper' Saxonne (I think) Lange range, you get all the craftsmanship in a conventional looking timepiece. It is a true work of art for the wrist though.

This thing is absolutely beautiful. Had a chance to handle this and the bracelet versions for both the lunar and hand wind. There aren’t too many ADs or grey market shops with GO where I am now. In fact, a lot of salespeople don’t even know the brand here in Japan. The details on the hand engraving is incredible. I would say out of the major players only Lange is noticeable better. This holds its own to Patek in terms of finishing(at least to the naked eye and 5x magnification. J. Anthony might sound like he is tooting GOs horn a little bit, but I have to agree after seeing them in person. Originally I was only considering a JLC master ultra thin moon phase for my next piece. However I have to say I am leaning towards this now. JLCs finishing is just not on par. At least not when comparing these two.

Opresnik Management Consulting it really depends on what you think is more important and what you want I think. Other than the obvious about wanting a moon phase or power reserve. The power reserve is a mm thinner. I think the lunar pops more on the dial with the moonphase display. However the power reserve has a more beautiful movement with an extra hand-engraved piece under the balance bridge and also gold chatons.

Glashutte Original is classy. Especially the Senator line of watches. A cut above the rest. For a dress watch, i wud buy this over an IWC any day.

DO you know whats the difference between 1-90-02-42-32-05 and 1-90-02-42-32-50?
From what I can see, the last 2 digits are related to the strap. 90-02 is the movement 42-32 is the model and metal. The strap is not only about leather/synthetic/bracelet but also for leather synthetic about if it is a buckle & pin or a folded clasp etc... Also, I can't find '50' actually referenced anywhere, so that might just be a typo....

GO is older than Lange. They used to be the same company, but the Lange family bought the name back in 1992 to create their own line.

If I go to Glashütte, is the price for Glashütte Original any different than the rest of the world. I really dream of owning a Glashütte Original watch, but I don't have the economy yet. still saving. it will cost me around 9000 dollars here in Norway, but so far I only have 4000 saved up, but I continue saving.

Oh please! To the person dissing on Swatch, they wouldn't be financially viable if it weren't for Swatch Group backing them up. Say what you want but I'd rather Swatch over Richemont any day! The only brand that hasn't really benefitted from Swatch Group's involvement is Omega. They've diluted the brand with cheap marketing schemes like the 'Moonswatch'. Aside from Omega, and perhaps Jaquet Droz, the rest of the upper brands on their portfolio are doing better than they ever have, both in reputation and rentability!!

When pronouncing Glashütte, you made the same mistake as most Non-Germans: speaking it like the *s* and the *h* formed a *sh*, like in 'push'. They don't, though, Glashütte is two words joined together, 'Glas' and 'Hütte'-glass factory. A Hütte is a facility where they deal with molten base material, I think, like, there's also Stahlhütte, steel factory, for example. So… there's a tiny pause between the two words, Glas-Hütte (keep the long a that you already use, etc). Your 'ü' _is_ pretty spot-on, though!

better than a rolex? depends on the piece, for the same price - sure, but a Patek come on thats an insult thats like i would say a VW is better than a Maybach it does the same. Better worth for value, but if you directly compare no chance.
All watches in that caliber are way better than Rolex no doubt, but Patek? I think not!

if this watch was solid gold it would be a good deal at 10000, but longines master collection steel watches and baume&marcier clifton and classima moonphase watches are much better bargains. also grand seiko high beat auto., jlc master calender, and zenith windsor models are excellent steel timepieces for well under 10000 usd preowned. if people love this design then they should definately buy one but there are many great dress watches available in this price range

this vs a Longines is like an Aston Martin vs a Fiat, which I say after looking at both today in Sydney, as well as Omega, Rolex, Grand Seiko, Tissot etc. GO was a cut above them all. But not Lange.. which seem godly through a loupe
