    What a fabulous demonstration!
    I have watched some of your videos multiple times to help cement in my brain, all the differences. I have hot foil dies, a glimmer machine, Gemini Jr, spellbinders die cutter, a inexpensive laminator, toner cards, deco foils and another type foils ( not sure which kind) and just received my minc today.
    I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos Nancy! You have an excellent teaching style and cover all the bases.
    Time for me to start experimenting. Thanks again !

    Thank you for all these video tutorials Nancy. You give out the info in a clear, easy to understand format.
    Thankfully my storage system allows me to keep the foil in the original acrylic container or acrylic bag so I don't have an issue. I did buy hot foil at Tuesday Morning one time because I was unsure what it was and wanted to test it, but you've saved me the trouble. I have no interest in investing in a whole other machine like a Gemini and hot foil dies. I imagine that the over foiled cardstock could be readily die cut so it's not a complete waste of a purchase.
    I did notice though on your second test, that the toner acted like a resist to the hot foil so the pattern was visible. It"s an interesting effect.

    Thank you for this demonstration. I need to go though my foils and try to separate them. I did not realize that they were really different types. Yes, I did take all of them out of their packages. Because of was trying to save space. Hopefully I can get them all straightened out. I really appreciate how informative and helpful you are.

    Well, i bought some hot foils by mistake instead of toner foil. What works for me is - if the laminator heat is low, hot foil will mostly stick to the ink and not much to the bare page (although there will be some overfoiling)

    Hi, I am interested in making a label for the bottom of my epoxy tumblers. I usually would use a waterslide decal that I can foil (toner method) and apply after I seal them. However, I am now interested in making a label in white instead. Do you know if there is a way I could do this with foiling?

    I do have a question: are Toner foils the same as Heat transfer vinyls? Ive seen these words interchanged a lot and I am not exactly sure the difference or if I can use Heat transfer Vinyls with a Laminator. I do know now I can use Toner foils and textile foils but Some label textile foils as Vinyl transfer foils and I dont know if those are the same.

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  2 роки тому +1

      Short answer no. Toner foils are foils that need toner to stick to. They are usually thinner and designed to be used in crafting. Textile foils are closely related but are thicker and can be used with a heat activated adhesive to design shirts. The foil & adhesive are seperate. Heat transfer vinyl or HTV is designed for fabrics. The adhesive is already built in and no seperate adhesive is needed. They are usually much thicker as they are designed for multiple washings. Not made for paper crafts, but used often in mixed media, signs, cups, etc.

    What paper do you recommend for laser printing . I gave ordinary 220gsm cars that I used to print Xmas sentiments for foiling , but the writing looks ‘dry’ on the card . Would a gloss card or pearl card work better ?

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  3 роки тому +1

      I use 80lb Hamilco semi gloss cardstock

  • @andreah993
    @andreah993 Рік тому

    So without actually foiling the cards in the minc, is there no other way of knowing which is which? X X

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  Рік тому

      No, foil looks and feels the same. So until you add heat to see if it "sticks" without an adhesive will you know. You can use a laminator if you don't have a minc.

  • @christinecolton2596
    @christinecolton2596 2 роки тому +1

    So if it has adhesive it’s used for the glimmer machine and if it doesn’t stick it’s for the toner sheets?

    Hello Nancy, I'm from Québec in Canada, I don't write english very well :) I use heated actived foil sheets "Foil Quill" and I use them with my laminator and the foil don't go only on the image (I printed the image from my laser printer, with toner) but there is also a lot of small spots on my sheet. Is this because it's hot foil sheets ? Also, I use Foil transfert sheets "Cricut" and I have the same problem. I ordered "ICraft - deco foil" on Amazon, do you think it will be better with toner sheets ? Thank you very much Nancy !

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  2 роки тому

      Yes the FoilQuil and Cricut foils are hot foils. You want toner foil. Decofoil is one option. You can order from Www.craftycritta.com until 12/20/21 and save 40% using code Nancy40.

      Sometimes it's not toner foil. It's actually hot foil and I depends on what you tried to stick it on. Glossy surfaces will tend to melt & cause overfoiling
