An elephant suddenly and mysteriously disappears from its keep along with the caretaker. The author has some weird connections with the incident, but is as lost as anyone in the city as to where the two disappeared.
Haruki Murakami harps on his signature surrealist flute and creates an experience that doesn't give an answer but welcomes you to dissolve into the question. It has always been about something else.
