    For someone who's hooked into having a healthy, active and fun lifestyle for a year and lost around 95 pounds.. I've tried only cardio for 6 months lost weight and gained it back.. I've done weight training in the past and gained back weight.. i wasn't able to stick to a healthy lifestyle for more than 6 months.. but this time i made changes.. i brought together a bunch of people at my gym who wanted to just have fun and lose weight.. they're wonderful.. we do lotssa different things every week.. Mondays HIIT Tuesday and Wednesday full body weight training.. Thursday's we all meet at a park and walk around or have fun at those pull up bars in the play area 😀 Sunday usually long runs or trekking or basketball.. sometimes football.. we keep mixing it up.. sometimes it's just an hour long group dance session lol..
    Yes eating healthy and intermittent fasting helps a lot !! Do it for fun.. do it with love !! You'll never quit.. Cheers !!

      People constantly lose "weight" in cardio and shit man, gain it right back. This is because you don't build muscle in cardio except some leg muscles which is not where most of your weight is. It is in the torso. Your "weight loss" is just dehydration loss for a while. When you weight train and build muscle, you have to make fat somewhere else to gain weight back. That is just over eating.

      @@BCFC954 Balance is not needed. I just find cardio boring. I get enough general workout at my ranch. Working out for weight loss, I saw zero loss over the first three months. Now it is going down. The long lag is probably how the body is built so you keep going without constant meals, but it was very concerning originally.

    Personally I find cardio a supplement while weight training is king if you wanna burn fat off. I lost 42 pounds or 3 stone in 4 months and cut my calorie intake by 750. I focused on more protein so ate only meats, cheese, eggs and certain fruits. Cut out carbs to almost nil. The most carbs I got were from coffee and tea with milk. No refined sugars, starch rice potatoes junk food etc etc And I made sure to stick to a good sleep pattern, no late nights 12 o'clock being the latest
    So for me it's diet, 80% weights 20% cardio, sleep and the need to kick your own ass and push yourself to commit to it. It's easy to put weight on, not so easy to lose it. But once it's off it's easier to maintain

    I’m so happy that I found you by happenstance- I WAS interested in cardio vs weights but now that I found you - I would follow you because of your nutrition knowledge. I’m 68 and I walk for 70 minutes every morning and when daylight allows, I walk an extra 30 after dinner. I do weights 3 times a week but I don’t get anything doing weight as I do walking- mostly endorphins, fantastic energy - just to name a couple. I hired a nutritional coach two weeks before the pandemic hit and started to eat clean 80/20 or I say sprinkled with sugar and I never looked back. My favorite thing that I get from proper nutrition and daily exercise is definitely my new found vitality
    I hope I can carry this well into my 90’s and beyond as my mother just passed away at 100 in November- it’s in our genes.Looking forward to seeing your contents . Thank you for your great explanation of the importance of weights, exercise and nutrition.❤️

    I’m currently on my own weight loss journey and I can say without a doubt in my mind that as far as exercise goes lifting weights is more important in the long run than cardio…. I’m not saying I don’t do cardio I’m just saying that my primary exercise is weight training and cardio is secondary….
    I lift 4-5 days a week following a “bro split”, each lifting session consists of at least 20 sets… so each exercise that I do is 4 sets of 8-12 reps and I do 5-6 different lifts per session… I lift heavy… I don’t mean that I’m a strong man or anything, I mean that I train to failure or to the verge of failure for at least the last 2 sets of each exercise…. Each week I slightly increase the weights on my core lifts and I change up supplemental lifts regularly to shock my muscles… I also lift at a pretty fast pace… I get through 20-24 sets in 45 min to an hour… (I hate the people that sit around on their phone between sets for 5 min after doing a 40lb lat pull down lol)… The great Ronnie Coleman has said 45 min is all he needed for each lift session… No need to spend 2-3 hours in the gym….
    I do cardio 2-3 times a week usually 1 of those days is a day I don’t lift… the other 1-2 cardio workouts are in the evening after a morning lift… i like to do a few rounds on my heavy bag, I have battle ropes I like to use, I do kbell swings and I do my core work/ a couple yoga stretches for my back… It gets my heart rate up, I get a good sweat, and I avoid wear and tear on my knees and feet by not running or walking for distance…
    Diet is the real key to success… if you eat like shit your results will be shit regardless of exercise… especially as you get older…

    Ich can eat how much and whatever I want and don't get fat.
    I only eat when I'm hungry btw.
    But well we talk of about 12 - 15 hours sports per week.
    I don't use elevators and skip public transport if it's below 2-3 km away, oh and I always have a backpack on with about 10kg (food, water, training equipment etc. for good measure, except when I'm running)
    Many people would say that's too much, and that they don't have time.
    I call that just an excuse.
    I buy my groceries at the store (2km away) and carry it back in my backback (17 to 20 kg) it's a 75l large backpack btw. If you want to do the same, I recommend buying an expensive and modular military rucksack, reinforced with aluminium or similar for stability.

    I do 5-10 miles of biking every day and am off on the weekend. I do weight resistance training 7 days a week, but interchange some of those exercises so I don’t get too sore. I don’t go to a gym, so I just use the floor and wall… and a 25lbs dumbbell. One thing that helps limit injuries or hurting of your muscles, especially the leg/knee areas when doing cardio, is a high protein diet. I am 290 right now and I am eating around 2000 calories per day, and am eating around 100-150 grams of protein. A good percentage of your daily calorie is take is 20%-35% for protein, if a high protein diet is what you want. Once I lose weight, that number will lessen. Good luck.

      @@donaldkasper8346 Lol. My PR is 250 lb and that's when I was 225 pounds and in high school. I haven't done bench presses with a barbell since then, unfortunately (I am around a half decade removed from that time).
      I am down to 255 pounds since my last comment. I stopped working out so much and picked up fasting. I still exercise to keep the metabolism going and limit muscle loss (which I haven't noticed much, if any). I have a lot of muscle left over from being an athlete, lol. That's been the toughest thing. I love to work out, especially lifting. However, I am looking to lose fat the quickest way possible, but also the safest way. Working out so much without proper nutrition just doesn't work. So I have found a good mix. Once I hit around 210-225, I will cut the fasting and work on a long-term nutrition/workout plan that still lowers my weight, but can gradually get back into the "normal" life, lol.

    • @donaldkasper8346
      @donaldkasper8346 Рік тому

      @@Culperrr LOL The weight means something when you do 3 sets of 10 with 1 to 2 minute breaks. Do you press 250 at that, or is that once after walking around the gym to rest 15 minutes?

    • @donaldkasper8346
      @donaldkasper8346 Рік тому

      For example, I can do 40lb (x 2, 45 lb bar) at 5 reps, 5 times, one minute break. And just didn't bother continuing. That is a controlled lift. Once at 250 lbs is not endurance. You can put your feet back toward your head under your knees and lift your butt up and probably double your single lift weight. That is with my ass on the bench, not up 10 inches to push the weight up.

    It is super individuals. While trying to work with my Dr, she wouldn't listen to my issues with asthma and impact joint pain and just kept telling me I needed to be doing cardio like jogging and running, she even said walking wasn't enough because it wouldn't make me breath hard enough and I should use my inhaler while exercising if it was that bad. Mind you, I was over 300lbs so walking did make me breath hard. I tried it her way and it was not only totally unsustainable and painful, but didn't really seem to affect my weight loss. About a year ago I decided to try out weight training and I immediately could start tomtell a difference, and I immediately left my plateau and started losing again. Plus it's not painful, I do stuff that gives me a little cardio while strength training, and no more inhaler! Ive been able to keep.up.with it way easier. I'm about 50lbs down now. Likewise you could have an obese person with no asthma but who has back issues or bone density issues or something that might mean something like swimming or walking is ideal for them. At the end of the day, whatever is sustainable, realistic, and helps more than hurts is the correct workout.

    I’ve decided to do both, I’m going to add cardio but not too much.
    I’ve tried exercising the “bodybuilder” way the last few months where you do no cardio and just eat a strict diet and lift…. But that doesn’t work for me… I did gain some muscle but I didn’t lose that much fat because I kept messing up on my diet and wasn’t allowed to do cardio “because it burns muscle away”.
    I’m not perfect and my diet is going to mess up sometimes and that’s why I like cardio to compensate for that. I like doing at least one hour of cardio everyday because even though I try my best to stick to my diet perfectly, sometimes I mess up but that cardio will keep me ahead of the game.
    I’m also very motivated by progress and momentum and doing cardio everyday and knowing that the fat IS coming off fast just works better for me mentally rather than the slow and steady weight lifting approach where the results aren’t always apparent…
    I also have a bad shoulder which really hinders my workouts and progress. Perhaps if I my shoulder was healthier and I could really go to town with my workouts, the bodybuilding approach would work for me. 🤔

      You can put on muscle without lifting the heaviest weight you can. I used to go with the whole "go heavy all the time" approach but I didn't see really good results until I lightened up the weight, increased my reps, and focused on mind-muscle-connection (MMC doesnt get talked about as much as it should relative to building muscle). Start light and focus on form with your shoulder, and see what's comfortable/your range of motion and go from there. Probably wouldn't hurt to seek the advice of a medical expert/physical therapist. Best of luck! 💪💪

      I TOTALLY feel you! When I was mainly doing weights and not much cardio, it was a slow process and I love food so being strict with my diet isn't my thing. Yes, I lost weight and had more muscle definition, but than I injured my knee and lower back so just did cardio such as swimming, eliptical, cycling, yoga and you know what? The weight just melted off! Everyone noticed and were complimenting me on my weight lose. I was even eating more but losing fat faster, and all the muscles I built doing heavy weight lifting for 8 months started to really show! I also felt WAY happier and relaxed doing cardio! Now I'm recovered from my injuries and lifting again, but I enjoy cardio more so now I'm doing 30-40% Weight training and 60-70% cardio including yoga, swimming and I'm going to get back into pilates. This works better for me! I'm so sick of cardio getting such a bad rep in social media it's so freaking important and the fitter you get, the more calories you burn and your body becomes a fat burning machine. Cardio is an EXCELLENT tool for weight lose!

    You lose weight in cardio and aerobics by sweating and losing water. Then you gain it right back when you rehydrate. When you weight lift, you build muscles all over not just for your legs. You also build muscle from fat more than dehydrate weight loss because you drink water as you work out.

      @jaredsweity 3 роки тому +4

      This can depend on a few things in my opinion.
      1. If you are hyperglycemic then it may be worth it to have peri-workout snack (snack during your workout)
      2. It depends on your body fat %. The higher BF% the less worrisome this is as you use the excess BF as fuel to get you through your workout.
      If the goal is fat loss then it really just matters how many calories you have throughout the day.
      If performance is the goal you may benefit from having a balanced high protein, fat and carb snack prior to exercise and a high protein and carb meal/snack afterwards.
      Hope this helps.

      It's best on an empty stomach in the morning but for a different reason. Your body has to finish detoxing it's self and it doesn't do that for another hour after you wake up. That's why working out in the morning is beneficial because you help sweat it out. Why do you think farmers live for so long? They wake up early in the morning and do farm chores which can be a work out depending on what your doing and then you eat breakfast later in the morning. So I would just recommend working out on an empty stomach .

    For People reading this, I think it all depends. If you’re “FAT” and want to lose your fat stick to cardio but know how much you want to drop by. You didn’t want lose skin (skinny fat) if your over weight and want to lose weight (fat) focus on weights and cardio, mix it but don’t deny yourself the weight training. Everybody body is different and will also react differently too. More is than going to the gym, focus on what you’re eating. Don’t do diets but eat crap in moderation limit yourself two crap food 1x per week.

    I'm overweight male. I tried losing fats through cardio but it's just too boring for me. I find weight lifting more fun.

    Lifting weights makes me sore, so I have to skip one or two gym days to recover, and my mood sucks if I cant work out. Cardio I can do every day and feel great.

      Heres the solution, you probably at the skinny fat stage right now. I dd a lot of cardio lost a lot of weight, but my stomach and face was still fat. The only way I fixed is by building muscle. You need to incorporate weight training to your workout. Weight training does a better job at recomposition of ur body than just cardio. Eat around 500 calories excess than ur maintenance calories. (Do not fast, divide it 4-5 meals a day). Record ur strength gains and do progressive overload.

      I have a similar issue, and this could be a result of so many factors, it can be natural and you're body is holding onto any fat in that area

      @@BCFC954 *"developing abdominal muscles will fight the belly fat the same way biceps exercises fight the fat in your arms"*
      That's a load of shit. It doesn't work that way, you can't target fat in particular areas. You lose fat the same way you put it on. So if the stomach is the first place you put it on it'll be the last place you lose it for example

      The answer is a little of both but my personal experience I’ve done a couple of crash courses I have a bad eating disorder where I eat way too much at once, I did only cardio for a week I lost 3 pounds (also ate a calorie deficit) I was starting at 230 after that life got complicated because Covid and I gained it back pretty quick I recently started weight training along with a calorie deficit and lost 7 pounds in a week (mind you most of this is water weight which is normal 7 lbs isn’t a healthy amount If you’ve been on a weight loss journey for a long time but at the beginning it’s really easy to shed the weight) when people ask me personally I prefer weight training it’s actually fun and really changes the tone of your body overall starting off I was 230 and I’m 6’0 and had a very bad diet was probably eating 3000+ calories a day but weight training 3 times a week along with a morning walk everyday for 20 to 30 minutes while eating a lot of small meals throughout the day really went along way it’s helped me tone myself and fix my relationship with food I’m currently at 215 was 210 a month ago but muscle is starting to add more weight but I look way more lean and my posture has completely changed this is just my experience I have a bad metabolism and weight training has kept me more motivated to continue because trust me I’ve seen alot of people do cardio notice little to no change and they completely bail on. find something you enjoy because you more likely to stick with it. in total it’s been about 4 months since I’ve started all of this

    The loud music makes it hard to understand what you're saying. There's no need at all for music in a video of this kind, so you're covering up your voice for nothing.
