jointing technique not mentioned - there is no way of having a true 90 degree on the jointer no matter how precise you set up the fence. It will always be slightly off. When you run the mating board through, run it in the alternate direction in reference to its mate. Equivocally, you will have the "complementary angle" and get a better mating for glue up.

I always mark the jointed edges then take it to the planner then when planning once the other side is flat I plane on both sides to make sure the board doesn't wrap by creating stresses in the board. When sawing the other edge I take the mating boards and cut 1 face up and the other board face down in case the saw blade is off 90 degrees..
What is the advantage of this technique compared to just running all of the boards full width through the planer before jointing the edges?
LTVoyager: more control over the joint alignment when there are multiple joints.

I’m surprised his table-saw isn’t equipped with a riving knife (at least i can’t see one in this video). I understand removing the guard for videoing (most people remove them for convenience) but a riving knife is a great anti-kick alternative.
WOOD magazine: how old is this video? Riving knives have been around for a couple of decades. May be time to record some current materials?

I have a dewalt 7342 and it seems it will not go low enough to clean up 1 inch material. Do you have a suggestion.
Put a one inch MDF bed on top of the planer bed and add one inch to your thickness.
Well, I thought vid quality was good (audio and all that). The only thing I might add is that I also will sometimes flip the mating board so that angles cancel themselves out, but I also try to alternate end grain between boards so that if on one the end grain arcs like a mountain, the next arcs like a valley. Otherwise you run the risk of a glued up panel with waves as it moves with the seasonal humidity.
What would happen if you dropped that panel onto the spinning saw blade? Can you show us?
