Guy almost hit by steam train 425

- As the Reading and Northern 425 was backing into Jim Thorpe, this idiot walks right in front of the train. You can hear me in the video screaming, and I was pointing at the train like crazy. He noticed 425 coming at him and he ran across the tracks. I still don't understand how he didn't hear the train. This could have ended very badly, this man could have tripped or not have noticed the train at all and could have been hit or even killed. Please do not be like this guy. Be aware and be careful when being around trains.

I don't know what the hell he was doing. How do you not hear a whistle that can be heard from a mile away, ringing bell, chuffing sound, AND THE GROUND SHAKING!
The ground shaking should have been the hint that bad things are about to happen. I guess this guy has not seen Jurassic Park. lol
Simple Answer: Stupid People Don't Respect Trains
"...AND THE GROUND SHAKING!"
😂Exactly!!!! That Steam Engine must weigh hundreds of tons!!!! If your def, dumb, and blind you KNOW SOMETHING BIG IS COMING!!!!!!
It's like I always say: you can't fix stupid! Just let Darwin do his job, lol... 😅
He looked like he was trying to show off. "Oh look at me not caring guys haha I so cool durrr"
@@shawnwesson5667 i respect trains but i haven't done that to my life
As Ron White would say, " You Can't Fix Stupid'.
Yes, you can. Run it down with a hundred ton locomotive.
@@blatherskite9601 Bruh🤣🤣
you are oh so right, we have a name for him in the military, it's called a ''target''
Even with duct tape
but a train might.
Did he actually yell at the woman that got out of the car, "How stupid are you on those tracks?". You can then see him shaking his head in disgust. He knew the train was coming but let his anger distract him.
That may have been the dumbest moment in human history. Hard to believe.
And he was chewing her out for something SIGNIFICANTLY less stupid than the stunt he'd pull five and a half seconds later lel
I think he was also purposefully blocking her at the beginning too. He's walking into the middle of the street, then stops and looks back at her while she's driving across.
What is his major malfunction??
@@Andrew-13579 The answer to that rhetorical question is, he left the house without his brain.
I work on trains and have seen what happens when a person is hit by a train, Trust me it is something you don't ever want to see.
Seen more than a few. Not pretty.
It gets red real fast
I think i wanna see,idk why but im curious
@@davidantoniocamposbarros7528 We used a different word for people who wanted to see.
@@harryfaber oh?
You can see he was distracted, if it wasn't the train tracks it could have been almost getting hit by a car on Lehigh Street/209. Great video man shows you always look both ways when crossing tracks, road, anywhere with danger.
He crossed the tracks twice as the train was coming !!! Some thoughts arise about nature and the gene pool.
Some people are just in another world. This is one example.
We have got to thin the herd!
came close to a thinning. Next time
@@amandahuggandkiss2998 Definite TRUMP supporter.
I think that is sort of happening right now. Something called Co...vid or such? You may have heard of it!!
@@dancedecker Yeah and its killing thousands a day because boomers wanted to eat at Olive Garden more than fight a global pandemic, especially something that can kill a healthy person in their prime in one sitting.
@@jr540123 I totally agree with you.
Whoever filmed this deserves a medal
Train: constantly blows its loud horn 100 times
The guy: This is fine
Some random guy: yells
The guy: this is not fine
The number of people who go through life with horse blinders on is astounding!
I can’t understand how he didn’t see it coming when the train was literally right on top of him
He looked straight at it, and waited. then made his 'debut'.
It doesn't surprise me. I had to go to the post office a few days ago and (this is being written during COVID for all you future internet historians) in the lobby, some woman comes out of the door to the shipping room, pulls her mask off, and proceeds to practically walk right into me. Looking right at me. People are utterly fucking oblivious to their surroundings and frankly I'm astounded people don't get hit by trains, cars, etc more often.
@@zackakai5173 masks are for infantile morons. What you’re telling is a delusional LARPers sob story about nothing.
@@KandiKlover looks like i found the next hit-by-a-train moron! :)
At 0:24 he was yelling at someone and said "How stupid are you on those tracks?" but he got instant karma by his anger distracting him.
Ed Dickens always said, "Stand back 25 feet from tracks!"
Never ceases to amaze me just how suicidaly oblivious people are....
he wasn't even looking at his phone, no excuse! he almost made darwin proud.
I see Captain Collision is in town again.
At least his life was saved. Moral of the story: do not cross out in front of a moving train or the unthinkable will happen.
We need to go back to natural selection.
I agree the guy who almost got hit deserves a Darwin Award
That was natural selection.
It almost happened, l would feel bad for the engineer and surrounding people though...
Dopey knew the old girl was coming, can’t fix stupid I suppose 😒.
"How dare you destroy my freedom by putting a train here and trying to make me listen to a whistle and obey lights.
Tyrants!!!"
Wow. Just wow. This guy has obviously never heard of SL&L.
But really. How does that even happen.
The sound of the horn is awesome
The Southern Ps-4 Longbell is Definitely a Good Fit On 425
I simply don't understand how a Person Doesn't Hear That LOUD Whistle thats Right Next to them.
Jesus Mary mother of God. That guy shouldn't be let out of the facility on his own.
If he had gone under the wheels, he would have got zero sympathy from me
Actually he couldn’t have gone under the wheels because 425’s tender has a metal skirt to stop events like that from happening. However it would still be vey very painful.
When the bus knows better than the average human being...
School bus had sense to stop way before. 1995 school bus-train accident in Fox River Grove taught our bus drivers for sure. This guy looks like he had a radio or phone setup, distracted or clueless.
You can here the change in whistle pattern. Immediately changing to loud quick blast. It’s frightening to here that.
Watch out! He needs to move out of the way quickly, standing on the tracks is dangerous!
Guess we’ll see ditch lights on the tender soon!
I could tell he was a Bellend as he first walked into shot
Brilliant description, but not quite Shakespeare !!
No wonder the number of people getting hit by trains is on the rise
Mr. Oblivious. Not only was he blocking a car from completely getting of the intersection and out of the way of the train, but then he crosses in front of the train himself.
When they say "Stop, Look, and Listen" they mean "STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN!!" I wouldn't want to repeat such near-death experience like they did when ever I approach a crossing.
How did that guy not notice a loud whistle and bell going off heading right towards him?, it's like he wanted to get hit by a train.
When you're closer to death by train than you are with COVID.
"wEaR yOuR mASk!"
Golly, People can be idiots, can't they? It's lucky that the dude didn't get hurt!
I can see why you wouldn’t hear a diesel coming, but if you can’t hear a steam locomotive coming as you cross, you need to get your hearing checked
Would have heard that whistle back in Detroit.
We were on the station platform having lunch and I heard the whistle and froze. I could see my friends who were watching shutter
its no wonder so much railroading mythos revolves around steam locomotives being "alive" or otherwise spiritual. its whistle became noticeably louder and more frantic. such a direct translation of the crew's feelings in that moment.
I used to a railway brakeman. The level of stupidity regarding trains is remarkable.
Duh, walks across tracks where a school bus is sitting idle and does not look both ways? Despite whistle and bell? DARWIN case.
Recon he did that on purpose, or he's stone deaf.
He was trying to be Mr Badass.
At least he was wearing a mask.
Yeah because thats such a plus 🙄
I think that would qualify as part of the natural selection criteria for what almost happened.
I go to Jim Thorpe quite a bit and I have seen a lot of close calls between the tourists and the trains.
Nice rolling stock. I subscribe. Greetings from Italy.
When I was very, very little, I had a bunch of train videos. At the end of one, called "There goes a Train," a guy tells you not to walk on railroad tracks, and that it's against the law.
Now I am twenty three, and I still feel a little tinge of fear when someone walks on tracks, even when a train is nowhere to be found.
Apparently some people need to watch some of my old VHS tapes.
Rescue and upload those tapes
@@cleanerben9636 You can find "There goes a Train" on UA-cam
Same.
Even if you know the lines 'dead', there seems to be something likely live about tracks remaining.
The dumbest thing is, the 425 is known as one of the world’s loudest steam locomotives. This idiot didn’t care for the damn 4-6-2 pacific 3 meters away from him?
It’s literally the current loudest steam locomotive in America. How do you screw up so badly that you don’t hear the loudest steam locomotive in America coming straight at you?
The BEAST has your scent my dear!
0:48 listing to how that whistles being blowing! I'm really sure that engineer was pissed off! Lol
How do you not hear the whistle?
If that engine could talk, he would be really disapointed about mankind.
"oh hey, a train"
What a close shave
See 2 incidents so far, where is this place with an unguarded at grade RR crossing, is it public or some sort of amusement attraction? Really, no gates?
It goes from US 209 in the Borough of Jim Thorpe, PA to a parking lot owned by Carbon County. Jim Thorpe is the county seat.
Not sure if this was a setup. Mr Khaki shorts crossed left to right at 0.11 then hung around till the train got close and crossed so that he got his 5 minutes of fame. Should have tripped up and got run over. He wasn't on the phone or deaf as he jumped over that rail quick enough. Surprised there wasn't a crossing marshal there tho.
He was lucky more than once, as there wasnt a train on the other track.
I'm mean that guy was just on the same spot 3 seconds before hand, talking to whoever was in the white car. Where did he think the train went?
That could have been a disaster
this makes me wonder how on earth are people so disillusioned that they think they should blame the railroad for not installing warning signals when its their responsibility to look out for trains
I drive with people like this on Massachusetts roadways ...
you've got my sincere sympathy, smitty.....but we all have to bear our cross......:-)
@@stratman9449 - Ain't it the truth!!
@@SmittySmithsonite thankfully the majority (??!!) of drivers here in Ger. seem to drive reasonably.....but of course theres's folk everywhere....

Why does it feel normal for this steam to be doing daily runs knowing it's just a tour locomotive
It’s astonishing how blind some people could be. Like there are so many accidents like this that happens every year like can they not see the train in the corner of their eyes because I can and it’s pretty easy to do so
The engineer saw the man crossing and blew the whistle loud and clear. lucky that engineer was smart
How to give a train crew a heart attack 101
Darwin Award...missed it by that much
you beat me to it. But at least he gets an honorable mention
WOW! At first I thought, "Oh well, no more Rick on Pawn Stars."
Epic capture
What a nit wit. Major props to the school bus driver, he sat there even though he might have had enough time to get across.
I bet this guy was desperately searching for his lost smartphone which he usually uses while walking over railway crossings.
You can see him crossing the railway to and fro in his endeavour.
Just trying to be cool me: oh be quite
He's lucky there wasn't a train coming on the next track
... how many near-misses or accidents happen here...?
Just saw another video of the guy in a white car total his car because he drove onto the tracks as the locomotive was literally blowing its whistle
Is that SD50 there just for display
It was for that day because it’s a new paint scheme. Now they use it
Thank you for saving his life.
@Dewitt Leslie I am thanking the person who recorded this incident and yelled out to the fellow.
@@imanonattorneyspokesperson It could you be?
@@imanonattorneyspokesperson I see. So you are in on it too? Fooled me.
Guy nearly hit: "How stupid are you?!" LOOK WHO'S TALKING!
Some people are so oblivious to what goes on around them.
They need crossing gates.
What part of STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN he did not understand!? 🛑🚫🚞🛤️
“Dude!! dude!!” Lol.
At :41 someone asks "How stupid are you?" Guy's response: "Watch and I'll show you."
That was insane holy crap
How could he miss that?? 😂🤣
0:09 guy walks across railroad 1st time.
Poor guy, he forgot his peripheral vision at home!
How can you NOT hear that locomotive ?
maybe he is deaf and just thought there was an earthqauke
@Dewitt Leslie true that haha
Or had earbuds in listening to Elvis ?( nearly joined him , way on down !!) 😁
I don't live in America but what that man done was absolutely stupid and the bad thing was he had no earphones so he could hear the steam loco.
Idiocracy isn't very far away, folks.
That must be the same guy who was driving the white suv in the other video 😂
That guy was full of SCHITT....He already knew that train was coming!...
...You can see him wandering around the crossing ever since he first crossed those tracks walking the opposite direction...I know he saw the train approaching then.
Some people are amazingly stupid around railtracks and trains.
Man that's way too close
He knew the train was coming unless he's blind. He saw it before it crossed
425: Get out of my way dude 😂😂😂
I clicked on this video hoping to see someone so surprised by the train, his hair would stand on end.
0:46 Walmart Camo Comando shaking his head and about to be sprayed across the concrete
probably lost hearing playing Medal of Honor Xbox
HOW CAN HE NOT HEAR THE TRAIN!?!?
How does that happen! If there is a train anywhere within earshot or eyeshot, I'm watching it!
