  • In this video I took the opportunity of my heavily modified Holden Torana being on the hoist, to showcase and discuss various changes to the structure of the car, the floorpan and suspension changes, exhaust design, etc.

    G'day from West Australia, as a 3rd gen Engineer I have to say, nice execution of thoughtful engineering.
    At almost 59 I guess I Am considered old school sooo that being said;
    I take my hat off to you.
    ( yep old school sign of respect for a fellow creator).😉🙂👍👍

      Thanks Steve! Yeah look it's nothing flashy, but I have a lot of photos from the build that will otherwise be forgotten. So I might incorporate them into more videos like this.

    Nice work , and I really like the weight saving methods you used throughout the engineering process. Do you mind mentioning what weight your at with your hatch ? This is one thing I want to do to my LX hatch, atm with sbc , 9 inch, harrop brakes , tko600 and chassis strengthening kit I am at 1460kg, not so light weight anymore. Enjoyed your videos.

      Awesome! Thanks for your comment. Yeah, they're heavier than people think! (they were never as light as the workshop manual suggests they were) Mine is 1,300kg on the dot.

    Great build video. Wondering if you going do one on your motor, especially on the LPG mods.

    • @Hezath
      @Hezath  Рік тому

      Hey there Des, thanks for the feedback mate. I could certainly look at doing that, although I'm not sure exactly what is of most interest about the motor. The engine itself isn't set up any differently for LPG, other than the fuel rails, injectors, etc. Is there anything inside the motor you want to know more about?

    • @desseton3140
      @desseton3140 Рік тому

      @@Hezath curious about how you went setting up the injectors etc, & what capacity they achieve. Also why you when LPG. The intake certainly looks different - throttle body style if I'm remembering correctly. I was looking at LPG set up , back in the 80s, for a twin turbo 308 motor, as petrol injection was available then. To get around the ADRs. Also noticed you don't have a exposed wiper motor either. Is this hidden or deleted. Like to see how that designed if hidden.

    Cerakote would be worth looking at to coat your raw alloy with.
    I’m using MS-5100 at the moment.

    Bloody great job mate. Loved it and would love to see the car one day if you ever take it to Melbourne car meets.
    Also, have you sealed the aluminum that you have sand and water blasted to it keeps its great look?
    Thanks

    • @Hezath
      @Hezath  Рік тому +1

      Thanks mate. It will certainly be at a lot of Melbourne car meets, probably somewhat soon.
      The water blasted parts have just been left raw. They seem to be a bit easier to keep clean after water-blasting, but a clear coat etc would be easier again (with the risk of it yellowing or breaking off, which I don't really want to invite)

    Love the engineering in this car and great it gets used as it should . Im about to embark on my own Torana build. Love the moving of the front end for clearance and slightly longer wheel base. . Question , Is the engine also moved forward or have you relocated it in the standard position ? Thanks

    • @Hezath
      @Hezath  Рік тому

      Awesome! Glad to hear you're enjoying it.
      Good question. I did make a simple jig and cut the engine mounts off the front end and weld them back on further back to compensate for the K-frame being moved forward. Sorry, I forgot to say that (and a hundred other details) in the video.

  • @302esky
    @302esky Рік тому

    Cool video ..I noticed that you have alloy spacers fitted to the engine x member and the chassis rails, Is that so your engine sits lower in the car ?and does it affect the handling of the car as well thanks

    • @Hezath
      @Hezath  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey there mate, sorry I never replied! Somehow missed this comment of yours. The aluminium spacers you see are just the mounts I made to move the crossmember forward a little bit relative to the car chassis. Due to various packaging limitations, I actually wasn't able to lower the motor further down in the car. Perhaps with a dry sump and a scratch-made crossmember that would have been possible, but the motor is pretty much in the standard position after all was said and done in this build.

    Very impressive design and custom fabrication work. A shout out from Up Above in US. The LPG tank at the end is a shocker for me. How common is LPG used in performance cars Down Under?

    • @Hezath
      @Hezath  Рік тому

      Thanks very much. LPG is NOT used very commonly in performance cars down under, any more. A decade or two ago, it was more common. Unfortunately it's becoming a lot less readibly available, and it may not be on this car forever. :(

      @@Hezath - owning an LPG-only car, I can confirm you're 100% right. R.E. the availability of LPG. Now that Taxis are all heading down the Electric/Hybrid path, even less petrol stations will be keen to stock the stuff. The only reason I have it, is that it came with the car.

    • @Hezath
