Thank you bro I just want to say you hit the nail on the head have a GMC sierra 5.3. I change all kinds of parts already oxygen sensors, mass airflow, spark plug the entire evap system and thanks to your video. All I needed to do was just reset my long-term field trim and also few alcohol content. Thank you very much.
Been trying to find the source of p0172 code, both o2 sensors replaced, smoke tested no vacuum leaks and new spark plugs. I have an MAP sensor, could it be going bad?
@@elitemobileautoelectric7782 I’m having the same code and the I did reset the fuel alcohol content and I’m having the same code, also hard start in the morning and when I’m driving it stutters I replace the fuel pump also
So, in short, if you don't have an expensive/professional scanner you can't fix it... Should just lead with that so I don't waste 10 minutes of my life.
Technically you don’t need an expensive scan too to be able to do this type of job. Even one that’s worth at least $150 would get you Data pid’s and special functions so that way you can read the data/codes. A scan tool is only to guide to see what’s going on and then you would have to take the time and try read the data and then move fwd to fix it. Trust me it won’t do you any good having a 10k scan tool and not knowing what your doing. Here I’m explaining on how to read the alcohol content and also the 02 sensors and fuel trims. Which you can do with any basic scan tool.
I have a cheap code reader. This video basically says the MAF sensor could be bad with those codes. I got the same codes and replaced the sensor and air filters and codes gone.

@@delongeness1460 My guess is to check the mass air flow, fuel trims and go from there.

But resetting alcohol content you need expensive scan tool
