I unironically have seen people complaining that Tanaka is "interrupting" too much. THAT IS THE FREAKING POINT. Those people cant just move on from Initial D, and get that were not anymore on illegal street races, but proper racing, with real street-legal racecars. Tanaka, you are making MFG way better than what i expected it to be. It is great that in the anime you're given a look (in the manga Tanaka is just kind-of Initial D's narrator)

Idk look it this way, an ep in initial d had hype for 13 min out of 20, here theres 4-5 min thanks to the commentator, and without him theres only the "kanata passes X racer" moments

Closed-street racing, +300 km/h straights, corners taken within centimeters from the guardrails, *NO PROTECTION FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING*, and if someone crashes, remember they are cars with enough weight to literally crush the guardrails (Kanata's 86 is probably the lightest car at +1100 kgs/+2300 lb, and Aiba's GT-R is maybe the heaviest car at OVER 1.6 TONS) Indeed, i miss fans on the side. But it really makes sense.
Wrong. He doesn't have a plot armor at all if you compare it to Takumi's. As well as you're wrong about Ryosuke driving skill (since he is the slowest out of 3 of them, and Kanata is faster than prime Takumi). Go get some knowledge, dude.

It doesn't matter that the 86-GT is a turbocharged, redesigned, heavily modified $100k race car. As far as he's concerned, some punk teenager in his dad's Toyota Corolla crashed his party, beat him like a piñata, and left like it was nothing. He won't accept that. He'll be his eternal rival, and sometimes his friend, and always be fighting to regain his honor.

But maybe their holding off so they could use it when the old cast from initial d shows up to use it, rly slap us with nostalgia. also i cant get over "the angels" uniform, thats gooottta be breaking the law, their wearing less then a hooters employee and thats a restaurant for adults to be perverted... and this is a mainstream racing event for all eyes, kids and all. the camera man literally put the camera up a 17 year old's ass close enough to sniff it and held it there for a moment, mean while the father is watching and blushing / laughing at his daughter... like wtf im just saying, at least put them in a mini skirt to make the boring scenes less cringe and easier to watch, the angels are an annoying 10% of the plot that i wish just didnt exist.
After the race they made upgrades to the 86 mainly new suspension (The 86 in that race had suspension more suited for track not for the street) and the next upgrade which is not in the anime yet will have a turbo
