Valproic should be avoided, incidence of embroypathy during 1st trimester:
phenytoin 21%, phenobarbital 27%, CARBAMAZEPINE 14%, IT MAKES SENSE IF CABAMAZEPINE IS DOC. The key is mono therapy and regularly monitor of blood drug levels.

All epi drugs are teratogenic, Carbamazepine has the lowest risk nearly equal to the risk of an Epi Pt going off meds.

I just had my first seizure a couple of days ago and my family said I was doing the same thing your classmate was doing. I was regurgitating blood too. I have my follow up appointment later today, thank god. But I am really interested and curious as to what kind of seizure it was that your classmate had? Mine started out when I was sleeping. I woke up and wanted to shut off my fan because it was cold. As I got up I literally jerked and fell back on the ground. I tried getting up but every time I tried, it was like gravity was pulling me to the ground because I kept jerking and falling. So I stood sitting down on the ground and kept jerking forward. I also got really sick and started throwing up. I tried laying down but kept jerking and it was getting worse. I had a puke bucket next to me and when I tried getting up to throw up in it, I literally jerked so hard and fell forward on my face.. I have a black eye now because I hit my face and scraped it pretty bad.. That's when My mom decided I needed to go to the hospital. I was in the car and aware of everything until I got to the Emergency room. When I was in the car my arms went extremely stiff and I was shaking/convulsing, especially my head. As soon as I got to the Emergency room, I blacked out because I don't remember anything after I got out of the car. But I was told that I went into a full on convulsing seizure... I was vocal and screaming in a low tone, blood was coming from my mouth, and my eyes were in the back of my head. The ER Staff took me back right away and got an IV started... Apparently I was trying to rip my IV out (I don't remember any of that) I came to once they gave me ativan right after... I am really curious as to what kind of seizure I had?? The doctors didn't know... Which is why I have a follow up appointment with my primary care doctor. Does any of this sound familiar? I am scared because I don't want it to happen again...
