When i was younger, i got to ride one of those Claas 960 forage harvesters. I know the guy who operates the one i got to ride. I've got lots of respect for Claas
I worked at a feedyard for 6 years. We had a silage pit made out of dirt. The trucks would go on top of the the bunker dump and back to the field. Had a D7 Cat push/pack the silage. Had 2 Hesston self propelled choppers, 3 rows, and had 6 pull type choppers and they were 2 row choppers. The silage pit was about 20 feet high.
Can't remember for sure. It's been forty years plus, but I think it was a 717, something like that. We started with a one row, if you can believe it (I still remember my dad pulling it home with the the pick-up truck), which I think was called a 616, then later moved up to the 2 row model.
What does maintenance on a big tractor like this look like? How many hours between engine oil changes or fluid checks? The heads on these tractors take a beating. How often do they fail or require maintenance? Thanks for the videos. Neat seeing these units in the fields.
SB Vol Every 10 to 15 hrs fluid checks and greasing. Every 300 to 600 hrs engine oil and filter change. And every 1000 to 1200 hrs transmission/ hydrolic oil and filter change.
bigtractorpower be starting around the end of August first of September if you can make it it will be around fair oaks indiana lots of dairies in this area
+Adam Offen I film most of the ground and cab shots. I have two people here in WKY that film the drone shots. I also have a person in Western New York and one in Wisconsin that film drone footage for BTP. Do you have footage that you wanted share?
Michigan Farming been running a claas 980 for 6 years demoed a krone full day and I gave it back within an hour hated everything about it except the head was awesome.
Robert Long that's normally where guys will run. you get a little better quality because you don't take as much stalk. the operator probably runs a little high in case of obstacles like rocks in the fields
As well as the rest of the machine is engineered it always struck me strange that Claas puts a wiper in the middle of the windshield with a coiled cord from the steering column going to it.

Claas makes an excellent chopper
@@bigtractorpower they're very popular too
One of my favorite chopping videos so far!
Nice job looking around the cab! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching.
Nice video.👍🏼 We're runnin' a 960 as well. But, we use a 10 row Kemper Champion 375 plus instead of the Orbis. Greetings from Brandenburg, Germany.✌🏼️

Amazing. Really enjoyed that. Sure beats the two row New Holland chopper we had on the dairy farm I grew up on!
+John Tapscott I like those classic pull types. Which model New Holland?

bigtractorpower be starting around the end of August first of September if you can make it it will be around fair oaks indiana lots of dairies in this area

+CAT DIESEL POWER thank you for watching.
Do you film all of your videos yourself or do people send them in?

Is that a normal chopper or is it a shredlage chopper ?
+jacky bruckers it is normal silage. Shredlage is a longer cut.
How do they keep the silage from rotting ???
packing is the key
which header is good kemper or orbis
them magnums are something else. my buddy got a 315 last spring. any plans on filming krone big x
+Michigan Farming yes on the Krones. There is a Big X V12 and a Big X 700 here in WKY.

Looks like they're leaving a pretty high stubble about shin high.

+Robert Long most farms here cut at that height. How low do they cut in your area.
Are u going to film the krone big x
Yes that is the plan. We should catch up with a Big X V-12 and a Big X 700.
My friend is the one that runs one of the big x 700
Is the cab really that quiet or are you filtering out the noise?
+LS Greger no filters.
Impressive. A lot of engine and moving parts for being that quiet in the cab at least. I am sure it roars like a beast standing next to it.
How many cows does this farm have. My guess would be around 1000
+Christian Gierach I am not sure.
... Apparently it takes about two minutes to fill one of those trucks up!
We are not even close to chopping yet , we are 6 weeks away yet
+Jeff Hoffman corn is drying down here in WKY it won't be too long before BTP is filming combines shelling.
would you film a sugar cane harvest
+Tom Monti I would love too. It is on my wish list to film. I do not know any sugar cane farmers.
i am a cane farmer from northern new south wales australia
Class builds a great machine except for that wiper in the middle of the windshield.
What's wrong with it?
As well as the rest of the machine is engineered it always struck me strange that Claas puts a wiper in the middle of the windshield with a coiled cord from the steering column going to it.
Thanks.
@@edwinyoder2505 It does seems strange, but it cleans windshield really good.
How many trucks where they running
