What do you think of the Flex? Is this almost redundant, or do you agree that its better than the OG?
Love the deadpan bit about the pressure gauge “not compatible” with the flex. I’ll be sure “not to try this” 😂
It seems like a spacer could fix this.
Only $100?! I didn't expect it to be THAT cheap! I was apprehensive to get into espresso. But this is so affordable, it's hard for me to resist.
The grinder will be the issue for trying to get good espresso on a low budget.
@@Thetache a good hand grinder is pretty cheep. as in like only about as much as the Flair Neo Flex still though worth it tbh
Timemore c2 is the best budget grinder.. Around 30-40usd possible depend on your location.. Great pair for anyone with tight budget
It is 79$ now 🙃@@localtactic
Great format, I had a great time. Subscribed for more content like this!
More to come!
Laughed so hard at you deadpan about the pressure gauge. Thanks for the review
Definitely not a replacement for the neo but for a sub $100 espresso maker that comes with a lot of added stuff I'm definitely interested in this as a nice intro product to espresso.
I got the standard Flair for Xmas. It took me watching some videos to figure out the red pressurized basket - and realize I needed the bottomless one. I actually ended up getting a flex as well, partly for travel, but also because for the cost of the case and an extra brew head, you could get both attached to a flex. I like the simplicity of the system, and now that I have the routine down, I can produce a pretty good cappuccino in
Great video!!! Love your delivery! This looks like a great entry to espresso! Flash is always lookin out! 👌
I dont even drink coffee, i just think your voice and mannerisms are super conductive to have on in the background.
10/10
More full length videos…you are super entertaining! Looking forward to more since you appear to have all of the coffee gear in the world 😂
How does the body and lever arm feel in use compared to the Neo? On the table, it looks like the lever arm is shorter than the Neo. If that is true, how much more force does it take to produce the same pressures? While using the Neo Flex, does it feel like the plastic - well - flexes? Does the base feel as stable on the table?
the little cap goes below the chamber for pre-heating it on the side!
& solid review, this seems like best quality/price home espresso on the market. and fun for beginners to get a better understanding of how the different parts interact.
Hello! One question, the aluminum valve on the piston, up to how many bars of pressure does it support? thanks for the reply
How do you feel about the bottomless 2 in 1 portafilter versus the flow control one that comes standard with the NEO?
Nice review, I liked the vibe 🤜
Wow, first time seeing your channel, but it was a really polished video. You seem like the first one to get out a video on this thing.
I think people sometimes bring up the Picopresso as a surprisingly competent espresso machine for around the same price point, but the Flair Neo Flex does seem like a better option as more of a daily driver, especially if we could just figure out some way to get that pressure gauge to work... Hmm...
I'm a bit biased towards Flair though, as I used a Flair Signature for quite a while and currently use a Flair 58 as my daily driver.
Of course, you can pretty easily just find a used Flair Signature for
Is the bottom of the plunger plastic?
Great video- subscribed.
I think for me the OG flair is still the winner (I’m after one of these as a camping / travel solution)
1. I am experienced and don’t like the idea of a consumable pressure relief system
2. The plastic body (i’m sure which partially explains #1) is definitely very budget looking to me.
Still - a massive bravo for Flair to make this available for $100
could you bring the Flair to camping? Isn't it wayy too heavy and bulky?
They now advertise the pressure gauge as compatible on their website. I don’t think they changed the design either
I tried the "new and improved" gauge. Nope. Still pushes the pressure head down at an awkward angle. Disappointing. Surely they could have come up with something better than that.
Are those red parts on the piston plastic?
Thank you Sir.🎉
so the pressure gauge actually works wth it? is it hard to pull with it on?
No
youtube just recommended me this video. you are freaking hilarious and thoughtful. i don't wanna look yet but i'm hoping you're canadian. if you're not canadian i will officially grant you canadian citizenship because you have canadian energy and must have been canadian in another life.
love from north of lake superior from fellow coffee geek and new subscriber.
I airfin love this video! I have a 58x. But I reckon I’m gunna get a neo flex too
That was an awesome "Deadpan" moment, then let's look at it from build stand point, the Flex is made of Plastic and Neo is made is soild Metal. Like the name says, if one Flexs it too much, it can lead to micro cracks thus the pressure release system. Which the normal pressure guage does not have. So if one cracks it with too much flexing what will be the outcome 🤔.
3:09 Is this sarcasm because you were not allowed to say it actually is compatible? (because they want people to upgrade their Flair to use the pressure gage, presumably?)
Subscribed, great work fam
Note: In the official flair tutorial (and on the website), it says you can use the pressure gauge - there's a certain one they make that fits the Neo Flex better
Hoping someone will make comparison between neo flex and staresso mirage. Both are same price and I’m curious which one make better espresso
Is the espresso coming out of the Flex much better than Nespresso capsules?
i think even a regular aeropress is better than any nespresso capsules 😅
As a LONGTIME Nespresso user who just received a free, almost-new Flex from his neighbor, I can say that I’m making espresso with TONS more flavor now. And I’m using illy pre-ground! The Flow Control portafilter is so easy to use for a newb like myself. I don’t even have a grinder… yet. I did buy a scale, though :)
HIGHLY recommend the Flex.
@@gilguajardo7808 Thanks
annnnnd im buying a pressure gauge i appreciate the info !!
First time watching this channel, like your style .. I'm guessing some gaelic blood in your veins 😊 BUT scratching my head over the pressure gauge (I have one with my PRO 2) penny to a pound it works but I don't want to lose my penny
Now the pressure gauge is compatible with the neo flex
excellent vid!
Looks the same as the neo except there should be less flex in that base arm. I noticed that most about my 84usd neo. The pressure gauge not being compat really sucks.
I'd expect a new pressure gauge to be released for the Neo Flex
Oh for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if that comes mid summer this year
@@SoftPourn Could you please share your experience with the pressure gauge? Does it seem to show correct readings? Thanks!
I have tried the "new angled" design. Nope, still drives the pressure head down at an odd angle. Very disappointing. Surely they could have come up with something better than that.
There was only one thing wrong with the neo. Being that it could be unstable while pressing down the liver. But ut fixes that.
I've always just made pour over coffee, but my wife kind of wants the capability to make lattes. I already have the Chesnut C3 grinder, which I've read is solid for espresso, and I think my wife has one of those milk frothers, so if I'm trying to stay under $100, is this the move? Or are there better products or things I'm missing?
@Danielle Anderson that’s exactly what I decided to do! Thank you!
I really like your anti elitism approach and overall approach and style of content. I almost didn’t make it through the pre roll ad after I read the name though. 😅 might want to make something a bit more PG it’s not like you cursed or had any other innuendos.
Thank you 😊
Can I get the flow basket for free??
For anyone who comes across this video now, the neo flex 100 bucks but now it comes with a pressure gauge.
Would this be the option with the smallest footprint size wise?
In terms of Falir products, yes. However the smallest espresso option would likely be the picopresso
I'm surprised the new Neo is so cheap compared to the 58+, which is really expensive considering it's a very superficial cosmetic upgrade to the 58. A mirror and a bit of wood, but still the same bulky powet brick and weird heat setting button that screams 90s. I'll stick to my pro2 for now.
Love the sarcasm and deadpan attitude.
I would've bought it if their products weren't twice the listed price when shipping is included...
Even the $640 flair?
@@DR19X fair enough but I'm a beginner so not gonna spend that much from the get go lol
Fun!
Agreed!
Didn’t the old Neo retail for $120 a while ago? So it’s only $20 less in exchange for a bottomless “portafilter” and cheaper construction? This seems really disappointing, the pressurized portafilter already has the functionality to work non pressurized, so by including the bottomless they’re not actually adding any new functionality. This should’ve been even cheaper considering you lose the more durable (arguably more stylish) metal construction. Also losing out on the pressure gauge means you lack the upgradability of the old neo. This thing should be cheaper than what they’re charging for it
At 3:48 the machine sounds as if it's about to crack under the load. Just pay a little bit more for a Picopresso or a Flair Neo. Quality and user experience matter.
It's just squeaking. fresh plastic that hasn't really worn in yet will tend to do that
Is the lever nd body made of plastic ?
WTF Flair, why didn't I get an email about this?! I am a 58 owner that might consider a really cheap Flair for mobile use.
The lack of compatibility with the pressure gauge is a no no for me. It's absolutely essential in my opinion.
Did you pay attention to the video?
@@kekelapp0r did you?
@@Julzaa Yes, it's how I know that it is actually compatible with the pressure gauge. Unless you were making a joke?
@@kekelapp0r then you'd better watch again the part at 2:52
Clarification: visually it doesn't seem like it fits, it's clunky as hell. He could brew a coffee yes but we had no visual on if the gauge actually worked or if the coffee brewed well. Would wait for other tests, one example is not enough if the manufacturer says it isn't compatible.
My guess is that the differences with the lever (materials, height) between the Neo and the Neo Flex would give false readings on the gauge, hence the statement from Flair.
excuse me but you are funny.
I hate the tacky branding the Flex has, unlike the original.
it looks sus
Without a pressure gauge the thing is useless.
So, just use the pressure gauge kit from Flair.
@@kekelapp0r does it fit? If so then its a go.
I'm inspired by how well delivered this video was. I love it when the indie people make a better video than the big budget productions 🦾🦾. Seriously one of my new favorite coffee youtubers!
You should accidentally delete your footage more often 😂 The tone you have in this video is 🤌
