@ch501ris Yes, Ex-Celtic Great Bill Sharman did coach that 1972 Lakers Team, and later became General Manager of the Lakers before Jerry West. The L.A. Boy from Southern Cal came back to his hometown. And before he started coaching the Lakers in 1972, he also coached the ABA Los Angeles Stars to the ABA Finals back in 1970. And if I'm not mistaken, another "Ex-Celtic Great" was Bill Sharman's Assistant Coach back in 1972 by the name of K.C. Jones.

To give the New York Knicks Starting 5 a Standing Ovation once they all went to the Bench is just an attribute of how much class Los Angeles Sports Fans have.

Kind of amazing that Jim McMillian's career sort of peaked in that, his second year. Although his stats were pretty consistent over a five-year span, he was a giant in that 33 game win streak, title year. His importance to a team was never the same.

Good! After how many years he has played with the Lakers, and how much he has meant to the team. Elgn Baylor MORE than deserved to get a Ring back in 1972, even if he retired only 9 games into the Season.
And as for Chick Hearn, obviously he got a Ring. Everytime the Lakers won a World Championship(9 during his Broadcasting ERA) Chick Hearn got a Ring with everyone else in the Laker Organization. And I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Jerry Buss might want to send a Ring to the Hearn Family.

Jerry West, Pat Riley, and a brief cameo of Phil Jackson running off the court. You could say Elgin Baylor was influential going forward, but he got latched on to the dead end wagon of Donald Sterling.

Well, if that is what he's complaining about, then again he has no legitimate argument. At 1:41 you can clearly see that no one has boxed out Frazier. He's just waiting for the ball as it hits the rim. Wilt is a few feet away.

  • @ddenuci

In Game 4, Wilt played all 53 minutes (48 minutes + 5 O/T). And so did the KNicks Jerry Lucas. In Game 3 of the series, Happy Hairston and Wilt both recorded 20 rebounds.

@ch501ris Upsets do happen, and that's what was the motivation the Lakers needed to go 65-17 and steamroll through the Western Conference. Once they faced the Celtics in the NBA Finals, the Lakers beat them like they weren't there! The only 2 wins the Celtics got in that series were both in Boston.
    Talk to you later.

gin: Thanks for posting. I love the way fans use to charge the court at the end of games like this. At 1:49, is Wilt waving to the crowd or to the fans? It looks like Frazier's tip in is clean, so I don't think he has an argument with the ref.

@Johnnyroeinski Just because you got Amare Stoudamire dosen't mean that you can finally toot your own horn! You guys are almost The Boston Red Sox of Basketball. It's been so long since your Knicks ever won a Championship. Has it been 86 years yet? No, wait. 1973 is just almost 40 years ago. You're nearly halfway there!

@taliesen1953 Oh yeah, during a time when the Lakers were in a deep rebuilding mode, those Celtics really "Kicked Ass". Why didn't the Celtics play this 1972 Lakers team? The Lakers would have beaten the shit out of them! NO DOUBT!

@taliesen1953 Yes I could be serious! And obviously you must be a Hardcore Bostonian to be hating anything that has to do with New York. The Lakers record 33 Game Winning Streak during the 1972 Season is STILL the Longest Winning Streak in Professional Sports. This was the Greatest Lakers Team in Lakers History. Not even the Celtics could have stopped this team.
