- Today's show were gonna talk about dissecting a river or lake to figure out where large active fish are. Some days you can put a bait anywhere and catch fish, other days its nearly impossible! Try this method!
Outstanding job on that first fish, my arms were hurting just watching.
uglyfrog you anit lying my forearms was on fire
Awesome video and nice fish bro
Thanks guys
Looks, good my solix isnt providing that clear of fish on the SI, prolly a setting :) great video
I have a video for mega imaging also. It may help out
Specially for fish finder setup and specific settings
If you have a big one on the line pull the anchor. And drift while you fight it. That will alleviate a lot of the drag from high current fishing.
D-op1 usually that’s what we do but I won’t do it alone with other rods out it would be a distater
Best video yet! Really enjoyed seeing the graph and why you chose to fish those areas!
Jesse Speer thanks I’ll be doing more that are similar
Enjoy your videos and thanks for the information. I recently picked up some of the Catmaxx 9/0 hooks after seeing you us them. Do you offset the point at all or use them as is?
Are those okoma reels
This is the first time I see someone really need a heavy power rod and 30 lb mainline.
I could’ve used a tuna rod and still got a workout lol
I use ugly sticks and 12 pound line. Only hope for me would be to chase it with the boat
Great video!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks seth
Great video man, I’m a new subscriber from Chickamauga Ga...👍🏻👊🏼
Jimmy Wilson welcome to the fam
Backwoods Catfishing Word...😁
Great video Josh. That current looks like an average day on the Missouri in my area. Some good fish you put in the boat. 👍👍
I’m sorry you have to deal with it constantly lol
@@BackwoodsCatfishing lol. Some times it's a pain, but it produces some big fish. Keep up the great videos
That's how the Missouri is here in kc
Hearing that line is such cringe. Use 65+ braid in current like that, along with a 50/60 lb mono leader and make sure you check your lines for fraying. If it is frayed just a tinnnny bit cut and retie and do that over and over again. That braid would make it a lot easier to get em in with that current being so powerful.
Justin Johnson I use it for bumping, other than that I avoid braid like a deadly plague. I fish to much structure to use it. I’ve lost a lot of big fish from braid rubbing something
Looked like a perfect day out there. Can't wait to catch some fish again. Winter has been tough. Ice jammed up for miles around me on the smaller rivers. What other kind of rod is that your fishing with there. Been so wanting up snatch one of them big cat fever rods up. Been trying to figure out if I should get the muddy rivers rod or the big cat fever. Hell I should just get both haha. Nice fish.
Robert Wixom lol it’s a BCF limited edition and they are badass
The oddball rod is a custom rod built by a friend of mine
Good video dude. You guys that reel your rod in the holder as opposed to just pulling back on the rod. "Setting the hook" in other words ever notice you dont hook up on over one third of your strikes? I'll never understand why people do that? The fish you just set the hook on you caught. Even with the circle hook craze.
The reel down method normally insured me a deep hookset. I’ve seen a lot of people that just grab the pole and pull and miss the fish. As long as the fish pulls down hard enough you shouldn’t miss him anyways. But there’s always the chance he’s only got the bait in his mouth and not the hook.
@@BackwoodsCatfishing I've heard that said. I guess I've been catching big cats over 20 yrs and never needed the help hooking my fish. I know that on those days where they're negative for the most part.....Like tough conditions!! You'll miss over 75 percent of your bites. I've caught MANY flatheads over 40 that hit like a bluegill. Of course blues are A LOT easier all the way around. Also hit WAY harder. I've just learned the hard way......circle hooks arent the best option in "Tough bite" situations? Just something to think about????
The 5 turns on the reel handle works like a mofo…. Been doing it for years...… If I want to move, but I really like the hole, I will do that every time.
It works most of the time
Great Video , i enjoyed all the extra info you provided , maybe you can keep doing it
Jack we most certainly will
Great video...I wish I would have seen ya at the conference.
Terry Miller Outdoors yeah we was busy that whole weekend lol I’m sure we will meet eventually
I love those shallow water bites!!!
The one that broke off didn't come to the top like the 30 lbers. Just saying lol
I know makes me wonder how big it was
Hi my friend, this is another great video. Thanks for taking us along with you. I love the shirt 🇺🇸. Keep up the great work and God Bless America.🇺🇸
Patriot Catfishers of AMERICA 🇺🇸 thanks for continuing to watch
Great video buddy awesome fish. Just wondering if my hummingbird helix 12 chirp is the same as your 10
Timothy Mcvay do you know if it’s a gen 1 2 or 3
@@BackwoodsCatfishing it's not the mega. I purchased it last year
Its a gen1
It’s very similar to the humminbird video I done with the helix 10
@@BackwoodsCatfishing thank you. I dont know a lot about electronics and I'm new to fishing
That cat hitting the water was pretty cool to catch on video! Nice catch!
Not the first time I’ve seen it happen but was a first catching on film. Definitely gets the blood going
I’m having trouble marking structure on my fish finder. I have a basic lowrance hook2 it only shows sonar. I can never find structure using it
Chasing RodBenders I don’t know much about lowrance but sounds like it’s a sonar unit only
Awesome video josh! Nice meeting ya at the conference
You as well! Thanks for watching
Nice fish once you got out of the fast current, great job 👍
What brand is that boat ,Great Video ,Very informative
It’s a G3 sportsman 200
Do you Anchor the back of boat??
I will if there’s no current
On the fish at the end of the vid that broke you off, do you think your line was chaffed from a previous fish?? have you ever tried or considered using leaders made from nylon coated wire from AFW (American Fishing Wire). I've been using the AFW wire (60#) for my leaders for years. I don't have any problems with chaffing. I have fished with mono and the AFW wire and I catch just as many fish on the wire as I do mono, so now I only use wire leaders. Just something to think about.
I think it was chaffed, if you notice that rod caught every fish. I wasn’t keeping an eye on the leader
Boy that current was rippin i really like the footage from the hat cam not many ppl use that angle did you have to get permission to use the music in your intro if so how ? Nice cats man
krazy kat fishing no permission, I was able to use the music without the lyrics without any copy right claims. I’ll be doing more with the hat cam for sure
Thats our everyday current up here on tge ol' Mississippi....😎😎
You coming back to st. Joseph to fish this year ?
Maybe, this year if we do we will be much more prepared lol
nice takedown that spot looks fishey love the tip about reeling up I do it and it works
What kind of rods do you use
Jose Sanchez big cat fever rods
Are those okuma classic reels? If so what are your opinion of them?
Love them, been using them for a couple years now can’t beat them for the price
Backwoods Catfishing thanks for the videos and the reply. I just picked one up and used it a couple times. I really like it but was wondering about the durability. If you consistently catch fish like that and have use them a while I guess they hold up pretty well., especially for what they cost. Thanks again
Tablet Project been using them for 2 years without a failure. About 95% of the fish caught on this channel is caught on one of these reels
Man those are some brutes. Great job
How much weight did you use the the first spot?
Major Brown 12oz lol
That current sucks I wouldn't fish in that current
