Jennifer and David’s acting in this scene is some of the best acting in television history. Their acting was so good and realistic that they both were crying real tears at the end. Yes, they were crying for real. They spoke about how emotional everyone was on-set during this episode. It really drives home the break-up of an iconic couple. 😢

Actually the perfect response to any cheater who tries to justify himself by saying “I made a mistake,” because that so-called excuse just doesn’t cut it, for the exact reason that Rachel’s words spell out.

Jennifer and David's acting in this whole scene is phenomenal!! The emotions are through the roof!! and later the scene of the break up is heartbreaking, I remember it was the longest silence of the live studio audience on the show - that tells you all. Even when Ross and Rachel were fighting, you could see amazing chemistry between David&Jen, and feel all emotions. The fact is, like them or not, Ross and Rachel had the most passionate love on this show, and they brought emotional stakes on the show a few levels up - no other couple did this on this show. Now, this is what you call chemistry!!
And this was, in fact, a brilliantly written story - the kind of love that tears you apart, pure passion, intoxication, and endless desire - exactly Ross and Rachel. In fact, the writers gave hints all along the way, that love between Ross&Rachel will be crazy. Besides the two songs that define Ross&Rachel on the show, and which are about this kind of love you can't live with and without - Wicked Game and With or Without You - there is also the blackout episode. In the Blackout episode, before they got together, they talked about love and relationships, and Rachel says to Ross that she never experienced love with this kind of passion, Ross responds: I see a lot of passion in your future, and that is exactly the type of love they ultimately shared!! Ross & Rachel were written brilliantly, that's the fact, and Jen & David brilliantly portrayed it!

The fact is, this whole story was written brilliantly - the emotions, the heartbreak, and the whole passionate love of Ross & Rachel fit so well! If you watched the whole show, it is clear that Ross was an example of 'still waters run deep'. According to Rachel herself, he was very good in bed. Rachel says that a few times on the show, that he is good at sexual 'stuff' - with his hands, she says with them 'it's never off the table', and that he is a great kisser ( I wonder if they incorporated this into the show from real life, as Jennifer Aniston said few times in the interviews that David was the best and excellent kisser on Friends, and she even repeated it a few days ago). She confessed to Ross in s 7 (the episode when she 'stole' Monica's thunder) that he was always good at the sexual 'stuff', and she later tells her sister Jill and Mona, that Ross is an excellent kisser (rewatch these episodes).
And Rachel always came to Ross when she wanted sex, and she was the one who ran after him after the breakup. She ran after him like crazy every time he slipped away and was trying to move on, and she ran to him when they conceived Emma.
Ross also had the hottest and most beautiful girls on this show, even more than Joey!! He made out with the blonde paleontologist beauty in the library, he dated the stunning dirty girl who was also a paleontologist, he was in a relationship with Julie, Bonnie, Emily, Charlie, Mona, Elizabeth, and Carol was a beauty as well (both actresses who played her) and of course, Rachel who was stunning. So it is more than clear, that he was doing smth very right!
And that this was the intended irony by the writers: to make Ross a geek at the beginning who runs after the popular dream girl Rachel, then he gets the girl, discovers his potential, and actually makes the girl crazy about him! And a lot of other stunning women.
And it was a great twist by the writers because that kind of irony often appears in life - appearances can mislead you. Again: Ross - looking at all the women he had on this show - and remembering what they said about him, including Rachel, was clearly a 'still waters run deep' type of guy and a fire. Rachel was fire also, that's why their love was so crazy!! it was all brilliantly written!

Here is where I stand on the whole situation. Ross is right that they were on a break and he didn’t know how to handle it or how long it would last for. So his feelings of how he took The Break was understandable. However he is beyond wrong for already sleeping with another woman on that very same night. Rachel almost did the same but she knew it was wrong to do that with another man on the very same night. And still loving Ross in all that happened made her realize her mistake of going on a Break. I get how Ross felt about The Break. He was wrong for immediately sleeping with another woman that very same night. Thanks for uploading.

One the best scenes/episodes EVER. LOVE how they all stick together, specially the boys. However, advising Ross not to tell Rachel the truth was not a good advice. Always be truthful and honest. A trustworthy person is a respectful person. Make a mistake but never break a trust. It doesn't matter even if they were on a break. Still, it doesn't mean you have to cheat/lie...etc. In Ross's case, he was hurt, cause of what Rachel said to him to be on a break. However, stooping so low, and have a meaningless sex is even worse. On the other hand, Rachel was inconsiderate of Ross's feelings for wanting to be on a break. Cause, of her work...etc. And, Ross should've been more considerate of Rachel having a job that she loved. However, Rachel shouldn't have gone too far with her request. Also, love how they both tried to talk it out. It means, they both still had feelings for each other. But, the hurt was still there to work it out. 💬🥰

Every sentence that Ross tried to justify only made the argument even worse. He unwittingly revealed that Chloe was still in his apartment when Rachel dropped by. Also when Rachel brought up the Gunther issue, he just said he went on a wild goose chase just to prevent Rachel from finding out.
I mean he could have straight up said that Gunther even had a crush on Rachel, and will use every opportunity he can to separate Ross from Rachel.
If you ask me on this conflict, I would say that both Ross and Rachel must be held accountable for this. Rachel suggested that they take a break from their relationship, but Ross misinterpreted it as a break-up. Even worse, his paranoia and ego that Rachel is in a relationship with Mark causes him to go on a downward spiral, getting drunk and hooked up with Chloe.
Plus, Chandler and Joey should also be accountable because they were the ones who took Ross to the bar and getting Chloe to get hooked up with him. They should have bring Ross to stay in their apartment and even Ross can face-to-face with Mark to clear the air on his paranoia.

Ross didn't trust Rachel and Rachel was NOT in any way interested in Mark. Even after Mark went over with food to try and cheer Rachel up. To which, Rachel was scared to answer Ross about Mark being there because she didn't want him to get the wrong idea.
Ross went to her office obnoxiously, remember, jobs are important as well, "You see that's how we buy things". Even if he wanted to celebrate their anniversary, he could've waited until after work or there's always the next day.
Ross could've waited, and could've tried hard to try and win Rachel back while they were as he says "broken up" if he really loves her that much but NO. He slept with another girl hours after their "break up". Who does that? For real, if you really LOVE the person like Ross did then you're an idiot for sleeping with someone right away. If you don't love them, then you can do you and go sleep around if you want.

Some red flags in 'Friends' that should have sent Rachel running from parents baby spoiled Ross, she fell in love with him but ross waved some major red flags along their road to love, the two ended up together but we're still not sure why.
He took impulsiveness to a whole other level.
    Friends Ross Rachel Julie
Rachel is in for a surprise when she picks up Ross at the airport, he is a recent divorcee and new father and still hopelessly in love with Rachel, Ross returns from China with a girlfriend in the season two,"The One with Ross's New Girlfriend."
Did he date around or work his way up to a committed relationship? No. Instead, he dove right in like a stage-five clinger.
Ross repeats this pattern when, a mere five episodes later, an unplanned date with Emily in "The One With Joey's Dirty Day" becomes a full-blown engagement in the aptly titled "The One With All The Haste."
He lied about their friendship to sabotage Rachel's future prospects with Paolo.
Rachel Green and Paolo were instantly attracted to one another on "Friends."Rachel meets an Italian hunk named Paolo during a citywide blackout in "The One with the Blackout." When Ross notices their undeniable chemistry, he lies to Paolo about his relationship with Rachel by saying that they are "a thing." When Paolo doesn't get the memo (he doesn't speak English fluently,) Ross resorts to insults. But as it turns out, "crap weasel" was lost on Paolo, too.
    "Crap weasel"??? Okay, weirdo.
He had no respect for Rachel's boundaries,
Rachel shared personal information with Ross, personal and professional boundaries meant nothing to Ross.
When he found out that Joey's video camera had accidentally taped Ross and Rachel having sex, Ross neither told her nor destroyed said tape.
A few seasons later, he put his career at risk by dating one of his students and continued to date her even though her father (played by Bruce Willis) disapproved. He even had the nerve to visit the dad's cabin with her against his wishes.
He also hijacked Carol and Susan's anniversary and ate all their dinner in "The One Without the Ski Trip," and took over Joey and Chandler's apartment in "The One Where Ross Moves In."
And when Monica explicitly told Ross not to bring his monkey to her and Rachel's apartment because the pet had peed on their table before, what does he do? He brings his monkey to the apartment.
He felt threatened when Rachel began pursuing her professional passion.
Rachel was swamped at work and Ross did not care, fed up with serving coffee, Rachel decides to finally pursue her dream fashion gig in "The One Where Rachel Quits." She does so with the help of a handsome man named Mark who helps Rachel get a job as a buyer at Bloomingdale's.
Enter Ross' insecurities: He thinks that Mark is only helping Rachel to sleep with her, so proceeds to mark his territory. He also complains whenever Rachel prioritizes her budding career over their relationship and even shows up at her job unannounced, seeking attention.
In "The One With All The Jealousy," Ross spots Mark kissing a woman and physically separates the two before realizing the woman is not Rachel, but Mark's girlfriend.
He secretly stayed married to Rachel.
    Ross Rachel Wedding Friends Vegas
It's amazing what can happen when you combine liquor, chemistry, and Sharpies.
Rachel and Ross get married after a drunken weekend in Las Vegas in "The One in Vegas" and "The One in Vegas - Part 2." They agree to annul the union, but Ross never mails the paper, keeping yet another secret from Rachel.
In "The One Where Ross Hugs Rachel," she finds out and is justifiably angry.
    He was condescending and arrogant.
ross and rachel break up friends
Ross was cute and cuddly until he wasn't.
Whenever Ross spoke to Rachel, his intelligence trumped hers - and everyone else's for that matter. He loved pointing out what she didn't know and scolding her about what he felt she should be doing.
In "The One With The Racecar Bed," Ross discovers that the only thing he and Rachel's father have in common is their love of roasting Rachel for not having renter's insurance.
    Weird flex.
He should seek help/ therapy, He had serious anger issues.Ross could not control his anger. Though he was a grown man, he frequently threw temper tantrums .
Speaking of yelling, Ross screamed at his boss, losing his job in the process.
His aggression was so intense that it may have lost him custody of his son Benjamin, according to some fan theories.
    He was super vindictive.
Ross was the king of petty.
Their breakup quickly spiraled into a feud. Ross bickered with Rachel about who had custody of their friends. Then in "The One with the Tiny T-Shirt," Ross made a big deal about getting his stuff back in front of everyone.
Let's not forget that he even dated Rachel's little sister Jill, played by Reese Witherspoon. The two were supposedly cool by then but petty is petty, and dating the younger sis of your ex is the textbook definition.
    The list is endless gzb

Ross slept with Chloe because he was mad and drunk, he never really wanted to. So he never did it on purpose, and he regretted it right after. I also remember the season 7 episode where Rachel has a crush on her assistant Tag and wants to sleep with him because she found out Tag just broke up with his girlfriend and there's a scene where Rachel asks Monica and Phoebe when it's okay to sleep with a guy who is fresh after a breakup, and Phoebe replies that she once did it an hour after a guy broke up with his ex, and Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe all laugh, and it's cool. So they literally describe the situation that was between Ross and Rachel here, and yet they don't consider it cheating and Rachel wants to do it. And people DARE to write that Ross was in the wrong. No, it all proves that Rachel was an insufferable hypocrite.
Ross openly and honestly told Rachel about his concerns about Mark - and it turned out later that Ross was right - because Ross loved Rachel more than his life, but he was already traumatized by Carol, who was his wife, not even a girlfriend, but a wife - and she betrayed him. Rachel had zero empathy for Ross and didn't understand that his fear and jealousy stemmed from trauma. Rachel didn't have time for Ross either, was lost in her work, so it wasn't like it was all Ross' fault, but Rachel didn't want to take any responsibility for their problems, ever.
Anyway, Ross begged for forgiveness, Rachel didn't want to give him a chance back then. And then she played with his heart. First, she wouldn't give him a chance, then she ruined every relationship he had, attacked Bonnie, Emily, etc., went to his wedding to break it up, messing with his head, telling him that she still loved him after he was married. Even before all of this, Rachel did bad things when she was jealous: attacking Julie, openly sabotaging Julie's relationship with Ross, and kissing Ross when he was with Julie.
And the hypocrite broke up with Ross and then lied that she didn't. Rachel came to Ross the day after their big fight and said she wants to be his girlfriend again - meaning she broke up with him, period, that's a fact, not an opinion. So Ross never cheated on her, he just slept with Chloe too soon, and he was drunk.
Also, I hate Chloe - she clearly used Ross when he was at his most vulnerable time, drinking and being heartbroken, and I also never liked that Joey and Chandler were at the bar with Ross at the beginning, they saw he was in a bad state, drinking, he told them Rachel broke up with him - so they knew he could do smth he will regret, yet they let him drink and left him alone! bad call! They should have taken him home, period!!
Also: Rachel was angry about 'the list' and Ross saying she was 'just a waitress' yet Rachel mocks Ross's profession literally during the whole show, and cruelly!! And the 'funniest' thing is, Chandler was actually the one whose idea the list was, it was never Ross's idea in the first place. Chandler proposed it and just started to write it, yet he never gets any heat or criticism for having this idea. Or Joey for that matter, for saying Rachel has 'fat ankles' which ended up on the list, and what Ross never said, it was Joey. Overall the list was a silly thing between the guys and never serious, just for comedy, but the fact is Chandler invented it, not Ross but ofc only Ross gets hate for it. And that isn't a problem according to Rachel's hypocritical fans.

Worst character ross, Problematic Things Ross Did In "Friends"
All these years later, Ross still remains the worst.
    1. When he lied to Rachel about getting their marriage annulled.
The absolute worst thing Ross ever did was lie to Rachel about having their marriage annulled. He completely ignored Rachel’s feelings on the matter and deceived her just because he didn’t want to have three failed marriages (one of which was completely his fault... *cough* Emily *cough*).
It was just some nasty kind of power play so he'd have something to hold over Rachel and claim her with. I would have gotten a restraining order if I were her.
    2. When he tried to kiss his cousin.
He somehow convinced himself that his cousin wanted to have sex with him, so he tried to kiss her. Absolutely disgusting.
He literally sexually harassed his own first cousin. Ross should never have been allowed anywhere near a woman.
    3. When he dumped Bonnie after she shaved her hair off.
Ross dumping Bonnie for shaving her head is a very underrated example of him being the worst. It was just incredibly vain and mean.
    4. When he was dismissive of Rachel's career.
The hypocrisy of his work being so important while Rachel’s is just inconvenient.
He made Rachel wait for him at the museum bored out of her mind ON THEIR SECOND DATE. Then he got mad and threw a hissy fit about their anniversary dinner, didn’t listen to her, and then acted hurt when she tried to get him to understand that her job was as important to her as his was for him.
    5. And convinced her to give up an amazing opportunity.
He stopped Rachel from having her dream life in Paris. I get it, you "love" her, but that doesn't give you the right to stop her from being successful. It was really immature of him to tell her THE moment she was actually happy with herself and her life. Also, remember when he bribed her boss to give her the old job back? The one she WANTED to LEAVE?
    6. When he filmed him and Rachel having sex, and kept the tape.
How about the fact that he accidentally taped himself and Rachel having sex and didn't delete it or even tell her? He only admitted to having it so he could win the argument on who'd initiated sex.
    7. When he dated his teenage student.
Dating his teenage student was bad enough on its own, but then FOLLOWING HER ON SPRING BREAK, just so he could keep an eye on her?! After making a big deal about how they weren't ready to take a trip together?! And complaining that she was the one making it too serious?!
    8. His treatment of Mona.
Right from when he didn't tell her about Rachel's pregnancy, he then tried to explain why he wasn't marrying Rachel in front of her dad (with Mona right there!) before freaking out over her wanting to talk about their relationship because of a holiday card, gave her a key to his apartment then changed the locks, bailed on dates and finally moved Rachel into his apartment without telling her. On Valentine's Day.
    9. When he assumed that Rachel being naked in her apartment was an invitation for him to have sex with her.
Rachel was naked at home and he thought that meant that she was asking for sex?! Like, WTF? He was so possessive of women and treated them as if they were objects, not actual human-beings.
    10. When he just refused to take the blame for his own actions.
How about smoking weed, melting his father's records, blaming both on Chandler, flatly refusing to own up to it and then trying to deflect blame onto Monica?
    11. When he wouldn't give Joey his money back.
When he REFUSED to give Joey his money back because he won it “fair and square” at Chandler’s made-up game designed to help Joey out financially.
He knew his friend was struggling financially and decided he didn’t care enough to help.
    12. The whole "male nanny" debacle.
It's hard to pinpoint just ONE problematic Ross moment, but the episode that takes the cake is when he gives Sandy the Nanny a hard time just because he's a man working in a job traditionally associated with women. Never mind the fact that he's shown to be wonderful with Emma, and only Ross had an apparent problem with him, but to make things even worse, he even implies that Sandy couldn't possibly be straight, and that he's "at least bi".
    13. When he freaked out over Joey and Rachel's relationship.
He kicked up such a fuss about Joey and Rachel's kiss despite having kissed Charlie as soon as she and Joey broke up! Joey was a way better friend and a better match for Rachel and this storyline really showed it.
    14. When he slept with someone else.
Sleeping with someone else when they clearly weren't on a break! If you watch that episode, Rachel says "maybe" they should take a break from "us" and Ross just storms out without saying a word. Rachel didn't declare they were on a break, she clearly opened the door to a much bigger conversation and he just left! He cheated on Rachel, plain and simple, but then still for years he refused to admit they weren't on a break - he can't admit that he did something wrong and that he's a cheater. Even when they almost got back together at the beach house, he threw away his entire relationship because he refused to accept responsibility for what he did!
    15. When he didn't want Ben to play with a doll.
I think the worst thing was his fragile masculinity being so intense that he spent an entire day with his son trying to take Ben's Barbie doll away from him.
    16. When he made out with what he thought was a drunk, semi-unconscious Rachel who turned out to actually be Monica.
Taking advantage of drunk girls /sister, we all know what we call such men eww.
    17. His jealousy over Mark and possessiveness of Rachel.
The way he acted when Rachel was working at Bloomingdale's. Barging into her workplace and refusing to leave when he was told, telling her it's "just a job" even though it was a job she loved and was proud of, and then acting like she owed him the time she spent working because he "didn't feel like he had a girlfriend". And then on top of all of that, all but accusing her of having an affair with her colleague Mark, because I guess she's not allowed to make friends in a new workplace.
    18. When he tried to ban Rachel from seeing other people, even when they weren't together.
When Rachel went out with Phoebe for the first time after having Emma, she gave her phone number to a guy. When the guy called Ross and Rachel’s phone and Ross answered, he took the message but didn’t give it to Rachel. They discussed not having a romantic relationship, but Ross still barred her from seeing other people. Disgusting!
    19. When he just had to be right about everything.
When he got angry about Phoebe thinking her cat was her grandmother. He valued his rational scientific identity more than his desire to make a friend feel comforted! She wasn’t hurting anyone but he just *had* to be right about everything!
The whole Unagi thing where he just HAD to prove Rachel and Phoebe wrong about being taught self-defence and ended up attacking two women on the street.
    20. His homophobic comments throughout the show... and again yes he is a CHEATER, cheating on Julie, then cheating on Rachel, then cheating on bonnie, Emily also got emotionally cheated and humiliated... the list goes on and on...

To be honest, it doesn’t matter if they were on a break or not or if Ross sleeping with another woman was right or not. What matters is that both Ross and Rachel messed up their relationship and they both acted immature about it, both don’t want to admit it and let it go, because Ross can’t can’t get over his first divorce and Rachel was being selfish and inconsiderate about his feelings. I know you all think it’s stupid, but to me it’s not and I think the real truth is that you all don’t want to accept the truth. At least I’m being honest. The real problem is that you guys don’t know when to be honest and accept it. More over all, if Rachel really wanted to get back together with Ross, then she should’ve admit that the breakup between her and him was her fault too, not just Ross alone. But no, she chose to be selfish and inconsiderate and very insensitive to other people including on Ross as well.

All of you defending Ross: Have you ever had a real relationship? There are periods when you will be "on a break". That doesn't mean you go and sleep with another person. It's time off to cool yourself or reassess how important you are to each other. And Ross slept with another woman because he was a)drunk and b) distraught that Mike had come over to Rachel's. He thought Rachel and Mike were doing it and that's why Rachel formally broke it off with him. A very natural reaction if you've ever been in the same situation. So..yes..Ross was wrong. But it was a human mistake.
