Beautiful voices, and two years ago I would say it is the best. But, after listening recent recording of this Pergolesi's masterpiece by Lezhneva and Jaroussky under the direction of Diego Fasolis, my heart is with them. Julia and Philippe's voices intertwine so magically
Технически Филиппа и Юлия поют лучше,но по тембру они такие серые по сравнению с Анной и Мари-Анной. Хотя,конечно, в барокко так и должно быть(золотой век кастратов), слава богу, теперь этого нет.

if you want the real deal, make sure you listen to sara mingardo x rinaldo alessandrini's version/concerto italiano. this one is like a village easter fair overdosing on helium.
On dirait que le Chef d'orchestre ne sert a rien avec Anna NETREBKO ! D'une parce quelle ne le regarde jamais - de 2 parce que quand il lève les bras, les musiciens ne le suivent pas forcement et surtout !!! NE LE REGARDENT PAS NON PLUS mais regardent leur pupitre et partitions !
Netrebko is the wrong voice for this. Listen to the recording with Barbara Bonney and Andrea Scholl to listen how well the voices suit the music and particular idiom of this work. I loved Netrebko's voice 10 years ago, but too much singing at the Met in very heavy roles has made her voice heavy, wobbly and unnaturally dark, none of which work in this repertoire. The voice has aged 30 years in just 10--too bad because it was a marvelous gift.
Madame Netrebko is not the right choice for this sacred music. Her voice is stunning, but her performance is for opera, not for this. Also, I prefer this Stabat Mater sung by a soprano and a countertenore. All in all, this is way too fast.
Just listen to her Piu Jesus.She is the right voice, sometimes she sounds exactly like a castrato boy for whom it was written initially.But she is a woman.
