    So glad you used the best recording, too: Andreas Scholl and Ensemble 415. They strike an incredible balance between a forward-moving tempo and the occasional dramatic rubato for Scholl--this music needs to move! But it's not a train 😅it has to breathe, too

    Why is this version not more popular than the Pergolesi? Frankly, only the first movement of this last version has any merit while the Vivaldi is excellent from beginning to end. Especially the 7th part is a stroke of genius, just violins and violas without bass. It is almost minimal music.

    • @TheOneAndOnlyZeno1889
      @TheOneAndOnlyZeno1889  2 роки тому +9

      I love both, and they are both very popular works, perhaps Pergolesi's is only more popular because Bach did a arrangement of the work... just a guess.
      Also Pergolesi's Ave Regina is coming soonish, I already complete the score video for it ages ago.

      I disagree. I think Pergolesi's Stabat Mater is much better from the beginning to the end. But Vivaldi's setting is still very enjoyable.
      Of course it's just my opinion and I respect yours.

      I agree with you. Pergolesi thing is boring except the first movement.

    El Señor Jesucristo los continúe bendiciendo grandemente, la voz del contratenor es perfectamente afinada, estoy maravillado de como un varón pueda cantar tan agudo como la contralto. Solo a DIOS la gloria, nuestro maestro Bach perfeccionó la técnica del contratenor. El Señor JESUCRISTO los bendiga. Amén ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

    I just realized, for baroque singers, they have to retrain their singing pitches for A=415Hz, no? That must be quite the feat, if you have years of singing in the A=440-443Hz range.

    Do you have any songs in this genre that have moments like 1:42 - 2:05 that you can recommend? Everything about that moment there, and later on in this just does things for me that I can't fully put into words.

      Zelenka's Miserere uses a similar harmonic progression. You can find it on this channel, I think.

      @@dzinypinydoroviny There are too many works that use a similar progression to name.. but the autograph manuscript score of Zelenka's C Minor Miserere (ZWV 57) utilises it in the opening and closing movements, score here:

      @@TheOneAndOnlyZeno1889 It may even be the most typical baroque chord progression (well, I don't have any research behind that claim but if it's not this, then I don't know what is).

      I think i know what you mean... i recommend Vitali´s Chacone, but look for the version played by Heifetz accompanied with an organ. Another one is Albinionis Adagio, in which i recommend listening first to the one directed by Von Karajan; Also, Bach Violins Sonatas B minor BWV 1014 and 1016, performed by Grumiaux.

    Bei Vivaldi sangen das damals die teuersten Sänger der Welt, es waren glaube kastrierte Männer oder eher……ich hoffe das ist jetzt kein Schimpfwort! Es sangen die sogenannten Eunuchen.
