17:47 Decisions Overview
17:58 Closing Thoughts + Commitment
I had a lot of fun making this video. The college decisions process is definitely a unique time. It has its
moments, but it's also a very stressful period; sometimes bringing out the worst in people. In the video, all the reactions appear back to back, but in real life, there's months of waiting and many hours of work poured into each application. To any future seniors out there, best of luck! Give it your all but also don't let the process consume you, while you're waiting, occupy your time with other things, go out, pick up a new hobby, etc.
I hope you guys enjoyed my video and if you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to my email bodonmateo@gmail.com. I’m happy to help with application and college questions. While I'm not a professional, I have definitely become quite experienced after this long ordeal!
Also, feel free to follow the gram @mateo.56412 ;)

Congrats on all your acceptances!! Cornell added confetti and alma mater to their acceptance page this year which is nice, it’s been my dream school too😭
Are you a senior as well?
@@mateobodon No I am junior, I am gonna ED to Cornell next year
@@jimmythegreat1101 Best of luck!! Feel free to reach out. Also, be careful with dream schools maybe think of it more like a ("preferred school") - from experience
@@mateobodon Thank you so much for the device!! Is it cool if I add you on insta?
@@jimmythegreat1101yes pls it’s in the description
Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations on all your acceptances! Though I'm a bit disheartened that you didn't play the Yale acceptance video lol. I also remember meeting you at Bulldog Days. My name is Jesse btw
I really shouldve played it, but I was too excited and kept moving on lmao. Send me your insta I am terribly bad with names :(
Please make a stats and Ecs video! Also how you got your SAT prep🎉
I might make one, but in the meantime feel free to email me.
Opening a decision in the movie theater is crazy! But in all seriousness, congrats on all your acceptances and I'll see you at Yale in the Fall!
Congrats! I'm a class of 2028 too; I'll see you at Yale come fall!
AYYY add me on insta its in the description
Congrats on the admissions Mateo. Super impressive. You also look to be a great person - very good vibes.
I'm wondering why you didn't chose CMU in the end? Given you want to go into CS, its program is significantly stronger than Yale (I would also say likewise for Cornell/Columbia?).
honestly i was shocked at first because you didn't look that happy getting into yale but i'm so happy for u getting into yale is increadible and it's my dream uni so ...yeah good luck at yale
+ one follower
Yeah it was really weird, it wasn't really my top choice at the time but it really grew on me and now im beyond grateful to be going in the fall. Weird how things change :)
@@mateobodon yeah i felt that you wanted stanford more but as someone who did some long researches on yale trust me you ARE GONNA LOVE IT THERE !
Hey man, Can you post a video on your Extracurriculars, I'm sure it'll help a lot of us
I'm going to apply to colleges next year, my dream is to get into Stanford or Yale. Either way, congratulations!
So talent😊
the fact that bro didn't cry or yell like other.
Bro’s a machine!!! He just kept going on Ivy Day hahaha
I think you should make more compelling EC's section ...we need that ...your stat in general...
Maybe I'll make one of those in the future. For now feel free to email me :)
I recommend Cornell. They have the best engineering program of the ivies
🥳🥳🥳
VAMOS BODON!!
You should've applied to National University of Singapore. It's a very good educational institution; just as good as the IVY League schools.
I'm also doing a passion project and am doing an internship related to how instutionalized racism affects black peoples mental health.
10:32 "You know how many views these things get, its gonna be nuts"
Well bros not wrong
These types of videos are addicting I swear
Mateo! Congrats - Eleanor
HOWD YOU FIND THIS?? But guys Eleanor is going to Harvard. Lowkey an opp
@@mateobodon it came up on my recommended and I'm NOT an opp
Opp🤨
What were your other stats? Such as your extracurriculars and other stuff outside of your SAT score. Getting into so many of the Ivy Leagues and top 20s is not an easy task at all. There's no way you just got in by having a good SAT score. What else did you do and put on your college apps to make yourself stand out and get accepted into so many of them?
Exactly but congrats man
I belive he is LGBTQIA+, trans, and low income. Which I’m sure helped him write fantastic essays
I'm even taking AP seminar and mutiple college level courses through my hs. Im taking an environmental science college course with UCSD, a college algebra course with Howard, and a statistics course with cornell university from national ed equity lab
What is your SAT/ACT Score that’s counts as well. It better to be competitive putting you SAT/ACT score
@@ks-ou3qu well I haven't tooken the sat yet but am gonna take it probably in August or September. I have to register first tho
@@BEYBROTHA well good luck are you applying to college this year?
@@ks-ou3qu yes in the fall.
@@BEYBROTHA I am too. We got this
Are you going to accept UC Berkeley’s waitlist offer?
I accepted Harvard and Princeton’s but am now officially committed to Yale :)
@@mateobodon Congrats!!!!!!
Need a Stats video
Could you please share your essays or experiences that helped you find your gender identity and sexual orientation? I am looking for how to do the same things for myself so I can boost my chances of getting into the top colleges of
Was just about to say i want an essay reveal! I go over a few essays on my page but it is just the ones I edit for my students… I want to see the ones of people who have already gotten in so I can tell my students what strategies to use for specific schools/ivies etc
Am I doomed at being able to get into a top school?I'm graduating a year early. When I was in middle school, in 8th grade I took 3 hs level courses algebra 1, living environment, and us history which my average in 8th grade was only like an 83. However, now I go to a hs that does competency based grades not number grades. I'm performing alot better now and have been accepted into alot of prestigious college prep programs and science ones. I am considered a top student in my school and even was recommended for college level classes and an AP class. I have very good extracurricular like I'm on the student leadership team, did a summer trauma program at new york Presbyterian, am doing college now classes, a summer research science program with Rockefeller University, and envirothon. Can I have at top schools and do you think i'll be asked to report my middle school grades?
If the middle school courses count for high school credit you will probably have to submit them. Best of luck with top schools feel free to email me.
How can u get above a 5
Were those random strangers at the coffee shop?
Noo, they are in one of my classes at school lol
u look like a power bottom im so proud of you
I agree, her essay topics must’ve been quite interesting and engaging
um thanks bud
@@mateobodon do you think writing about experiences and your identity such as yours would help an international student stand out?
@@JoaoPedro-oj9oi Depende de como vc escreve. Identidade e experiências ajuda, mas cabe vc nao deixar clichê
@@thiagogregory1 gracias 🙏
Did you take dual enrollment to upper you gpa?
Yes! But not to boost my GPA. Was interested in having a few less periods and they offered some interesting classes. In total I only took 4.
@@mateobodon what did take to boost your gpa?
Why choose Yale over Columbia bro?
Yale and Columbia were actually my top two choices. Making the decision was tough, but I attended both admitted students days and gathered as much information as I could. They are quite different. I love Columbia's campus and the access to the city, but it has downsides, such as a smaller size, less school spirit, and fewer common spaces for students to meet. Yale's campus, while different-being a bit more spread out and lower in density-is gorgeous, walkable, and definitely boasts a stronger school spirit.
Regarding academics, both are very strong in almost every field; however, Columbia seems to be a bit stronger in Engineering. This was a point of consideration for me, but I wondered how important this actually was, especially since this is an undergraduate education versus graduate studies. My potential Major is also a bit less engineering-heavy (Computer Engineering/Computer Science). Yale also offers its own benefits in engineering, like a 2:1 student-to-faculty ratio, perhaps easier to excel in clubs/programs due to fewer students, and a 4-year BS/MS program in Computer Science. Additionally, Yale allows for double majors, which seem very attainable given how the requirements are structured, unlike at Columbia where they're not permitted. So, for academics, I was drawn to the prospect of double majoring, the BS/MS program, and the accessible professors.
If I chose Yale, I would probably major in CS and Applied Math, both subjects I am passionate about and which align with Yale's strengths. Columbia also has a extensive core curriculum which while appealing is very time-consuming-I hear it takes up about a third of your coursework-which I feel could be spent exploring new subjects or taking more classes aligned with my interests/major.
There are also a few intangible factors. For instance, Yale students are supposedly friendlier and less competitive than Columbia students, although I have no definitive way to confirm this. It's said that Columbia's classes are graded more stringently than Yale's, but I'm sure this varies widely. The people are another consideration; Yale presented many cool, unique stories, and while Columbia did as well, the overall vibe from Yale was just better.
I know this explanation is lengthy, but I hope it helps!
@@mateobodon This explanation was very insightful thank you!
@@sebastiansanta6901thought someone else might find it helpful ❤
@@mateobodon I have no doubt your essays strengthened your applications and gave you an edge. You're a good writer! Take advantage of the English class offerings at Yale for me.
@@RT-vw6yw her topics we’re definitely of an interesting sort and unique and made her stand out
Dude who are you!!
who are you!!
😂😂@@mateobodon
Harvard was the only important one ggs
oh you go there?
@@mateobodon nah deferred but i did A levels so i mostly applied to UK schools for law. Got into Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham and Uni of Melbourne but this was like a year ago
@@user-wi6yj2yb9b congrats on those schools! though harvard is the only important one so ggs :(
@@mateobodon yeah ik what u mean, but then again I was talking abt the schools u applied to, not mine. Since u applied to US schools, Harvard is the most important. However since I applied to mostly UK schools, Oxford was the most important one, not to mention if I go to a US school like Stanford or Harvard, I can only work in the US. In your case, Harvard was the most important one, in my case, Oxford was, and I got in. GGs Mateo and ig congrats on Yale?
@@user-wi6yj2yb9b this feels a tad passive aggressive but best of luck to u bud
