I will do a 8 below versus Autofoam video tomorrow, just a quick one, no rust or like timelapse thing just cleaning power and quick chat..
If you want to cross compare with the products in the first round watch this video ---> ua-cam.com/video/WmVeTbarlH4/v-deo.html
VS BH Snowfoam?
Hey could you maybe add Koch Gsf with Greenstar at some point? Koch says of you need more cleaning power from the Gsf just mix it with GS. Since you own both products 😎
That'd be awesome!
@@saiiiiiii1 for sure yer i talked about this in the video..
Hayden Mcfarland Autofoam is BH
You've shown the wonders of bilt hamber auto foam in the past I'm shocked it's not in the test. It really works I'll stick with it 👍
Phil Smith probably wanted to give the others a chance
Could be a follow up video???...
Bilt hamber high activity auto foam
Autoglym isn't there too
@@swift2117 I have a bottle of it, great foam, useless cleaning power.
I've used my new BH Auto Foam three times now and I have to say I am very impressed by it's ability to remove dirt and grime. But..... I think I have actually improved it! I now mix it with another really rich thick, clingy snowfoam. I get the nice thick covering I miss with the BH, AND it sticks to the car MILES better so is on there longer and has more ability to do it's job. I have to say it's brilliant now!
I'm sticking with Bilt Hamber Auto Foam John. Thanks for the vid.
This guy is full of energy and enthusiasm. He is so lively and generous with sharing is knowledge and expertise! I've definitely learnt a lot from watching his videos.
Wow, thank you.
I’d like to have seen Bilt Hamber and the Auto Brite in the test alongside these.
UA-cam may not appreciate the work that goes into this Jon, but hopefully enough of us that know better do. Keep up the awesome content. 👊🏻
Great Video John.....not used any of these....would be interested to put the below 8 up against the Bilt Hamber autofoam which I still think is the number 1 on the market.
Just finished watching a posted video from Pan the Organizer here in Canada, and then I get notification that The Forensic Detailing has posted. Thanks Jon. You guys are making my Saturday morning.
hey wayne thx mate.
I ordered some 8 below last week, after watching this review as I am about to run out of my current snow foam, can’t wait to give it a go. Great review as always. Keep up the good work.
First of all: THANK YOU! People tend to forget or not realize how much time, effort, work, and money flows into such huge comparison tests.
Secondly: very very nice, well structured, extremely forensic ;) test. YOu can see that a lot of time and thought went into it. The only thing I was missing was a short assessment of the pH values of all those foams and TFRs.
Third, and because I'm a tester myself (XaronFR, German channel), I would be very interested to know how of what your dirt simulator consists so we can maybe also use it in our tests.
Fourth: I think Koch Chemie talks about a hand foam sprayer when they talk about 20ml on 1l and not a foam lance for a pressure washer.
Again, thank you very much for this test, very much appreciated and extremely interesting!
Was sagt der Experte: GSF vs Actifoam? Leistung beide gleich oder ist Actifoam doch noch ein tick besser? (Preis/Leistung einmal nicht berücksichtigt)
Bilt hamber v Wax planet... For the undisputed heavyweight title..... Unify the devisions 👍
Another great test. The only things I care about is anti-corrosion and cleaning power. Still seems like the previous winner cannot be beaten
I have only recently started to use a pre-wash. I went with HDD Road Rage (green). Glad it rated well in your test. I use in a pump sprayer.
Graham's Channel thank you much appreciated, imho think Road Rage is hard to beat especially when you factor in the cleaning power and price 👍
Great channel and reviews. I am a big fan of Larry at Ammo NYC, and now moved to the UK and you’re a big help 👍
For me in a snow foam I want corrosion inhibiting cleaning power that's relatively LSP safe.
Level of foam and cling doesn't bother me too much as long as it does the job.
I'm not too far off needing to get another load of products and was going to try out Autofoam. The comparison with 8 below will be interesting but I have a feeling BH will edge it out with value for money.
Glad to see one of these more scientific comparisons, it has been a while. Cling is great for working time but I also like to see some mobility of the foam so I know it's carrying dirt away; that didn't seem apparent with the winner.
It does fall off the car, I've been using it for a month or two now. 👍
I've noticed everything detailing channel's on UA-cam are not always be honest with reviews. They say every product is fantastic so the dont upset the company and don't get things set for free to review. If channels say everything if great its pointless. I'm glad john gives his honest opinion. By far the best channel.👍🏼
your one of the good guys jonny, but on a daily basis for the last 5 years I have people saying my reviews are biased and Im being payed by the companies. some people also get really upset when I critise products and brands. So I have been generally loosing money for 5 years making this content, and getting abuse. next year some changes will be made to how I run the channel to swing it back a bit more in my favour, I will discuss these soon on the "forensic unplugged". This video for example I will show you the revenue it generated in the unplugged video. Its around 70 pounds. But the products cost easily over 100-150. So I lose money to make this content. This is not sustainable generally so something has to change.
Really interesting Jon. I use WP 8 below and do like it, but like you I find it needs extra bite in the winter. I add 10ml of green star in the winter and that works a treat. Still works out as cheap as chips.
Great video as always Jon. Think I'll stick with your recommendation from the 1st comparison. Tough to beat bilt hamber.
A corrosion test on bare cast aluminum would be a good test, it would need a long term test as corrosion builds slowly compared to carbon steel.
Great video as usual John.
On really dirty cars I add a apc to the foam cannon I find this helps .
I love the bilt hamber auto foam I have a tub of that because of you :)
It's really good
Wish this included the Gtechniq Citrus Snow Foam
I've been falling to sleep at night while watching your videos. Fantastic channel. For what it's worth, I think you should keep presenting on the channel as you have a genuineness that would be hard to replicate.
Jon, that’s one of the best pre-wash shampoo reviews I’ve ever seen. Your in my tip 3 detailing channels. Respect for your time and effort. 🙏
*Now regarding your statement, at [ **26:35**] you’re saying that:*
*1) Ratio **1:25** it is 4%* and I’m totally agree with you!!!
*2) Ratio **1:10** is less than 1%*
Well ratio 1:10 means 1ml of product mixed with 10ml of water or 100ml of product mixed with 1000ml of water. Following the logic I would say that ratio 1:10 is more more like 10%.
edit:
Regarding my favourite pre-wash shampoo I would say that:
1) I do not have a garage
2) I’m using IK FOAM PRO 12 (pump) Sprayer
3) I can not meet the most producers requirements to avoid using the product on direct sun light and avoid getting it dry (at least not all the time).
By far BILT HAMBER AUTO-FOAM is my choice. It’s great product, not expensive (for 5L I’m paying more less €25) and the cleaning power is amazing. Thanks to you Jon (and your channel), I’ve discovered that great product. So, big thank you for that! 🙏
The only disadvantage is that using the Auto-Foam (40ml in 1L = 4%) with IK 12 Pro doesn’t give me much suds but that’s just aesthetic, right?! Maybe I can mix it with some other product to get more foam out of my pump sprayer, so I will be completely happy when washing my car. So, now I’m considering the idea to add a little bit of “Wax Planet 8 below” pre-wash shampoo and see what happens.
Point 2. Snow foam lance ratio 1 to 10 typically equals 0.7 PIR. 1 to 9 in pump sprayer equals 10 percent PIR. Remember pressure washer adds loads more water. See video how to calculate PIR.
@@ForensicDetailing so, if I understand you right, your advice is to use 10% of a product (Auto-Foam) in a pump sprayer (iK 12 Pro).
PS. Will check your video regarding the PIR. Thank you very much for your input. 🙏
Stay safe and all the best!
Thank you for doing a corrosion test, its not something that had crossed my mind but my locking nut has surface corrosion and the discs keep rusting up, suspect this is why. Thanks Jon.
I got some 8 below after seeing this review the first time around. I have now used it on mine and my wife’s car over the last week or so. Got to say very impressed. I will be buying some bilt hamber soon, so I can see the difference myself. Great video as always mate 👍🏻
I've seen other tests give similar results for HDD and GSF. Personally I use Autofoam after the last set of tests. For s***s and giggles I went with a 4% Autofoam, 1% surfex HD PIR mix for one of my winter washes and that was pretty effective and removing low down traffic film.
I actually do something along the same lines Roger... I use my old karcher foam bottle (the 500ml one) and go 50/50 surfex HD/water in it, spray the lower half of the car, then coat the whole car in autofoam (including over the SurfHD part)... This stops the HD drying out, giving it even more working time with the outstanding autofoam also working... 5-10 minutes later I spend a good 10-15 minutes rinsing, then 90-95% of dirt is removed... Some people say it's the power washer removing that dirt and not the foam... I completely disagree!!
If you want foam + decent cleaning power then Autobrite Magifoam, if you want very strong cleaning power then Bilt Hamber. Thats all you need to know 😄
znjful found magifoam clogs my foam gun.
This. I use BH in the winter to really cut through the grime, and Magifoam in the summer where the longer dwell time and thicker foam helps shift the dirt.
@@m0bov soooo thicc
Magifoam has poor cleaning power in my experience. Looks good for pictures though. Wax Planet Eight Below is more than thick enough and cleans better than Magifoam.
I thought Bilt Hamber was the best snow foam? 🤯 haha come on bro you got way to much time on your hands...😆 I bet you drive your Mrs crazy! Only joking - About to order some Bilt Hamber products though based on watching your previous videos all very informative and well constructed!! Enjoying watching them and will continue to do so, keep up the good work mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Iodetail got 10% off bilt hamber products and free delivery when spend 30 quid aswell
Awesome test, well done! Can you comment on Bilt Hamber Auto Foam vs Eight Below? Is Bilt Hamber the best allrounder?
Ass he said in the end of the video he have made other test with other products and he did not want to talk about other product than the one there was in the video. BH is brilliant, i use it my self, but that does not mean that I'm not open for some cheaper alternatives.
@@ketillundsrensen6167 Cheaper ? BH is probably the cheapest
@@dimmacommunication not if used at the correct PIR. Most will require over 400ml of product in a 1L lance bottle to get the correct ratio.
@@richardhurr31 But I am not using foam lance , much better with a sprayer.
Wayyy less hassle , super quick and effective
Great video, well done! I came here mostly to learn about the rust inhibiting performance of each, so it's good to see that test. You used each product in a neat form to test the corrosiveness, but in reality, each should be rinsed off. You may have a later review which I haven't seen, but could you comment on what you've seen after real world use (after rinsing with fresh water) on things like exposed nuts/screws on the underside, discs etc?
alkanility will inhibit rust. but use Bilt Hamber Touchless prewash thats a great option
Hdd rose rage is my got to product just works
The level of detail you go into is outstanding regarding price per wash etc. Great channel! Cheers!
Great test. I was missing them.
I'm not using snow foam just because i think they don't clean as much as the money they ask for. Your review has proven my thoughts in general, although there are good products that really clean (but you have to find them, try and error)
Instead of snow foam, wait and rinse, i pressure wash the thicker mud and then simply foam the car using my usual shampoo (Sonax, cheap) to help with the 2 buckets method. I can say that the "foam" of 1 cap of sonax (20ml maybe?) in 1 liter is similar to the turtle wax you reviewed.
I was going to say 'what about Bilt Hamber Auto Foam?' but it seems the entire flipping world has beaten me to it! 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video again pal 😀 when I look back on the first pre wash you did I still see BH coming out on top, it's an absolute beast of a product as is all BH products, I'm not into all this thick foamy bollocks, if you want think foam then just throw on marshmallow and job done, but I want the product to clean and BH is the muts nuts for me 😃
JON, THERE CAN BE ONLY 1 WINNER!!!
The winner is BH Auto Foam :-)
As always Jon, superb video! Extremely detailed and very very well demonstrated. I’m a regular user of Auto foam and it would have been nice to see it in! I know it’s generally the ‘benchmark’ for pre wash and in all honesty it was nice seeing different products in the line-up!
Wow what a video, I think this is such a big deal now since snow foam really has boomed in popularity in the last few years, Great info Jon!
Hey Jon! There seems to be a misunderstanding with the dilution for the Gsf. In a foam sprayer like the Gloria FM10 or the Kwazar Super Foamer on 1l you will get an awesome foam which cleans pretty good with just 20ml (which is a 2% dilution). For a Foam Lance used on an high pressure washer, you will have to adjust the amount cause the foam lance will dilute it even further. Most foam lances also dilute 1:10 so you will have to use about 200ml on 1l of water in a foam lance.
the instructions needs tweaking marios for the UK market. Because the product or the term snow foam in the UK is really associated with snow foaming prewash in a lance, only a tiny percentage will use hand pump foamers. The key words which would let users know are "pump foamers or pump sprayers" versus "snow foam lances". but I have to follow the instructions and it just says for snow foam use 20ml in a litre spray foamer.
unfortunelty a product thats mild in nature always suffers with my cleaning simulator. with green star in the mix GSF could strip that dirt film. so yer I felt it important to mention that.
really to win this contest the prewash has to be agressive with a strong degresing power and some natural alkalinity and be good value. no doubt koch will have something in their lineup which does this
Forensic Detailing Channel that’s true, I will forward this information to my colleagues. 🙌🏽 Thanks very mich for giving me this insight Jon. But that’s true, a ph neutral product will not have the same degreasing power, there is another snow foam product in our line up, which is the Super Foam, but it is meant for the professional detailer. It has a lot of degreasing power and a ph of 12.5 😃
@@marioan3698 this would be interesting to see. I love Koch chemies stuff usually
What koch chemie means is 20ml for hand hand pump sprayer which has a foaming nozzle. They have a different amount listed for the use with a foam lance.
Its very popular to use a foam pump sprayer in germany. Since the percentage of ppl owning their own property is lower than in the uk and harder regulations
yer its a language thing on their instructions. because really when a product is marked for snow foam use or called snow foam in the UK that will mean for most people in a lance and pressure washer. but they must be talking pump sprayer. they use the word foam sprayer for snow foam use.
I’ll stick with Bilt Hamber auto foam then 👍🏽
Hard to find here in continental EU, damn 😒😒😒
I havent find better product! Bilt Hamber for the win 👍🏻
@@PunkeliRissi True :)
Is it just me or is BH sold out everywhere, and its such a pain in the butt to buy BH oversea while not having a creditcard... can someone advise me?
Jordy - yes I found the same but I then went on BH own website and ordered direct from them.
Only just got in to snow foam and pre-wash. Very helpful vid, I've used sufex HD @5% as a presoak with foam on top. Seems to shift the dirt which is what I want, but think I will give 8 below a shot when I run out
I use PowerMaxed TFR but in a pump sprayer for the intial degrease, I wouldn't be using a TFR in a snowfoam lance like a snow foam. I use Autofoam for that.
I missed these reviews John, no sugarcoat strait up honest tests! Kinda shocked about GSF which is my go to snow foam. must nuance it I use Greenstar 1/10 to presoak the car and then use GSF to pull al the dirt of the car before rinse and contact wash it. gonna rethink my approach I guess. thanks for meking the vid!
What a cracking video Jon! So much time and effort gone into this. Eight below sales will be going up over the next few weeks ha! Stay safe!
Be good to see the two winners of each test up against each other.. Bilt hamber against wax planet 8 below
Never heard of Wax Planet, but will sure check them out when my BH AutoFoam runs out to compare. Great to see the tests Jon, appreciate the time these things take but they're fantastically informative!!
Once again John, you’ve blown it out of the water.
Another thorough and informative review..........great work.
Ive always used Avalanche in the past. But you have converted me to 8 Below for sure
The artisitic moves at 25:40 are outstanding ;) Seriously it is a really good comparision and I love the fact that you use pretty much the same way to test the products as the last time. I understand that it is soooo much work in making a vid like this. I am glad I am supporting you at the Patreon page. Keep it up!
lol. A little dance action going on there.
Really enjoyed this video. While we don't get these brands in Australia (except for the GSF I think) the whole format was great. Please do more. of these. Actually spent five hours on my beloveds BMW today and it was interesting to look at the GYEON pre wash I used after watching the video. Had a funny experience today, had some random stain on the rims that no GYEON product would move or for that matter the Autoglym Orange acid cleaner. Solution? Gumption with a paper towel, came straight off.
I was considering BH Auto Foam and the GSF, went with the latter because it was sold here in Denmark - lower shipping rates. And I have used it once, after watching another channel’s wash with it. 100 ml and GS. Still wasn’t impressed. Foamed fine but ran off the car very quickly. Didn’t have time to do the nooks and crannies with the brushes before it was off the car and almost started drying. I was in the shadow and under ten degrees C.
I will mod my foam cannon to get more performance from the GSF.
I have used GSF and GS mix as a waterless wash in a sprayer with good results.
I just read my label on the GSF and it says Foam Sprayer. 20 ml GSF to 1000 ml water, so a 1:50 dilution. What that ends up in with the foam gun, I will have to work out. But I think the cost/wash is going the wrong way. Bilt Hamber is on my list now.
Im a fan of Bilt Hamber. Need to compare the winner of this with the bilt as people may see both and get confused
Great test Jon and very thorough as always. I’ve used Spritzer for a couple of years and found it effective and versatile but my go to is BH AutoFoam. Looks like its getting some rivals now.
Great great video
Could be beneficial to added some Valet pro.products also. But again....great video John
When my Bilt Hamber snowfoam ran out I bought 5 litres of Wax Planet's 8 Below. For me it cleans just as well in the real world on a dirty car as Bilt Hamber but it's a hell of a lot thicker so you have loads of cling time to go around the car with a soft brush doing the badges, grilles etc. 👍
im prolly gonna grab 5 litres when I run out of autofoam as well
Really enjoyed the video. I'm thinking about starting the snow foam pre-wash. I hope PowerMaxed develop a snow foam to compete with the rest, as I like and use their wash n wax product.
Yes John ez sub zero snow foam and powermaxed tfr my go to cleaners. 💪
In-depth and honest review as all ways John. but I'm a tight ass like you mate so I will stick with auto foam on my car, but I will give the 8 below a go on the other car we have first to see how it performs. stay safe John.
Awesome video.. Please keep them comin.. Like to see a mad scientist multi-product mix to create what you think is the ultimate snow foam pre-wash cleaner. Also a second one, take it a step further and do one with just US products and another with just Euro products.
Great video, but doesn't really make sense to not include the best few from the last time you did it. Would have been more interested to see how magifoam and bh perform against the "new kids" on the block.
Hands down best detailing channel out there. 😁
A very useful video!! This is useful stuff we viewers like to see, now I know that most prefoams are useless and do nothing at all. Sure it's fun and it looks cool a car full of foam, but if t doesn't do anything its a waste of time of course. Stay Safe John ! and I'm on the your next video which should be great :)
Excellent review, looking forward to the comparison between autofoam and 8 below. 👍
Labocosmetica Primus and Neve are great snow foams, and you have to use it very little per wash. Would like to see test of those. Thanks for this review.
Really good informative video Jon. It must have taken many hours to put together. I'm not too surprised with the results I have been using 7 and 8 below since they were launched and really like them. I also have spritzer to try so looking forward to that. Bilt hamber does have the best cleaning power but 8 below is very close and alot more economic.
Great show. Hope you’re staying safe & healthy
Looking forward to this, Thanks John.
Bilt Hamber fans rejoicing / pointing and laughing ^_^ :D :D xD :P
good testing Jon, thanks. Would be good to have a couple of others such as AM Foam, Angelwav Fastfoam and Autobrite Magifoam, as well as your fav BH product. perhaps whittle them down to challenge your favs. I do like a capable APC that can be stacked, so the APC is under the foam, get a good combo and when it comes to contact wash stage, the car is in very good condition.
see pinned comment mate
Wow, nice in depth comparison. Interesting to see each product 👍
Top work John, can't wait for the follow up video, been looking to get auto foam but it seems to be sold out everywhere atm, had considered 8 below and this just confirmed it for me to try some 👍
Will compare it to TDG Prewash which I currently use, maybe one to consider for the next set of comparisons 👌
You should do some conversion rate stickers I always get confused with mixing rates.
Great Video as always. Just ran out of magiform and I think ill try some 8 below next.
Great video and good review of our Road Rage, great cleaning power with a price very hard to beat 👍
Thanks for another really good review 👍🏼
Was AngelWax not available for the review ?
What’s your favorite steam cleaner !
Fantastic video, very in depth and “scientific” approach. Of the test products I’ve only used the Turtle Wax, definitely needs higher concentration than recommended, not great for stripping dirt and road film but smells lovely! Not sure if you’ve used Angelwax snow foam? I had a bottle some years ago and remember it being wonderful.
Thanks for the great video!
Cant believe you didn't include kkd citrus magic john 😏.. brilliant content as usual mate keep up the good work
jon the amount of time and effort put into this is fantastic, well done
So thorough, thanks for compiling the test.
Superb video. Clear, informative, detailed.
I was intending to buy 500ml of WP Eight Below to test it out, but after watching this excellent video (complete with contactless Dirt Simulator test), i'll be buying a litre from County Detailing because of the impressive way that it shifted dirt with just a open hose doing all of the hard work.
I may even start using 8 below when cleaning the wheels if it works out cheaper than using an alkali wheel cleaner.
jon i use bilt hamber high activity autofoam to do regular weekly cleaning on my bicycle. i use around a 100:1----or 50:1 concentration in a spray bottle on the chain and it works so good that it even degreases synthetic chain lubricant. (not a clean strip but pretty darn good). i could put some HDD in it but i dont want a clean strip lol. When i use a snow foam i want cleaning power, and degreasing power, atleast if i want it i can up the concentration.
absolutely on point again jon. Interesting about the megs tho, sounds like the only thing that's going to capture is the weeknd warrior
the reason mcguries has thick clingy foam is so it clings on while you go in and use it as contact wash. that's only reason you want thin clingy foam
John - you doing some orchestrating at 25:40 while your applying the 8 Below? 🤣🤣🤣 Nice review as always fella. Now to watch the comparision against BH AF.
I know this is an old video, but the Koch-Chemie website states 20ml of GSF per litre in a 'foam sprayer'. That's a PIR of 2%, which would be more like 200ml product with my pressure washer set up.
They reference separately that GSF is also suitable for a 'foam gun', but fail to mention the need to maintain the correct PIR, which feels like quite an oversight...
If my interpretation is correct, it would be nice to revisit this product at the correct PIR 👍
Yer they should have corrected that I flagged that to them
John, you should really look into getting some flex tools 😂😂😂 your shelf looks as bad as mine. I have a lineup of rupes and lineup of flex, I'd hate to know what I've spent on them 🤷🏼♂️
So if I mix in a little 8 Below into my BH Autofoam would I get the world's best ever snowfoam pre-wash or a chemical reaction that will melt my car John?
Well done mate! This video must've taken some time :)
A lot of people say that 8 below is better then auto foam would like to see a video on bilt hamber vs wax planet
Jon can we get a Citrus pre wash and Citrus APC shootout? So satisfying laying down a nice citrus pre wash or apc smells lovely.
This was awesome! Incredibly thorough and well produced, thank you! A bit of a touchy subject to tackle and difficult to rank on top of that. Very well planned tests and categories, a lot of thought and time went into it..
Where do you think solutions at 5:1 and 10:1 of a good APC would land on that contaminant removal soak test? Do you have a similar video for APCs? I looked quickly but didn't see anything..
🤔👍👌✌
Great Video Definitely going to purchase The WAX planet 8 below
i would love to see a comparison of the koch GFS both with and without their greenstar APC mixed in to see how much of a difference it really makes!
Ooooosh been waiting for that! Brilliant video as always
Fantastic test jon as always - couldn’t wait to watch ! I share your thoughts on EZ’s products - there pricing is just all over the place and cheapens the brand IMO. A product can’t be 40 quid one day and 17 the next, it’s mad and it really put me off their products despite me using a lot of them at fist.
Their Arctic Meltdown is great though for a gentle LSP safe snow foam 👍 I go BH autofoam when i need the poke though - TAC systems snow foam is worth a go Jon - really good value, clings like mad and just never dries out on the panels. I love it for those reasons.
yes but I actually kind of like getting emails with like deals and stuff is good fun and Its probably good business. but yes I agree its a bit confusing and also stops me buying when theres no deal because my brain is thinking I could be massivly overpaying. dunno though, they seem to be doing well so good luck to them they will know more about their business and theres so much competition out there better to try something different than the rest you could say.
I know it sounds mad not to like a big discounter - I do and it’s good fun as you say. Just that point of thinking you’ve overpaid - i’m thinking well is this a 40 quid snow foam or 17 quid one hmm ...
That said they’re doing great - they have ceramic range which is fairly new i think - their EZ Ceramic wax is one of the best out there i’ve used no question - so easy to apply, buff and looks epic 👌
