This is my only gripe from Ford with the ecoboost Mustang. They really should have come out with a better exhaust system from the start. Nothing fancy, just something for us to build on. I had a custom set up (replaced all 2.25” piping after cat to 2.5”, removed resonator and mufflers, replacing with single Magnaflow 12268 where resonator was and piping out to 4” chrome tips - cost $600). Definitely not loud, but that wasn’t what I was going for anyway. Deeper in tone, and sounds better than stock. Best of all, the less restrictive piping complimented the COBB stage 1+ kit (stage 1 tune with their CAI). Better horsepower, better throttle response, better sound, and no drone. Gas mileage didn’t even take a hit. (I get 26mpg mixed, and 30+ mpg on highway).
Stock is a 2.5 inch pipes with 3 inch tips. Maybe 3.5” tips. But now it’s 3” pipes with a 4” tip and makes it deeper. Video doesn’t show the depth of the sound. Not super loud but much louder with a deeper tone
Got a like new set for sale, let me know if you like more information. Is the race one and has a "cherry bomb" "resonator" however you want to call it, it enhances the sound for even deeper tone. I bought it new and installed by pros but the wife didn't like it so I took it off, is her car after all. But still in like new condition. Best offers considered. I got the same setup on my EcoBoost and it rocks.
This is a stupid question but putting this exhaust on you didn't have to remove the catalytic converter or mess with it at all right? I traded my my v6 mustang for a 2017 ecoboost that is far from stock and this exhaust was already installed, im just thinking about emissions thats why 😅
no the cats stay original so this one just replaces the resonator with a straight through pipe and mufflers with the mbrp ones. The mbrp mufflers are hollow though so theres no walls in the mufflers. just a hollow big tube to change the sound.
Great video, I’m sorry I know this question is very late but I’m getting a 4cylinder mustang with this exhaust, I was wondering how different it sounds from the v6 ecoboost.
Nah this exhaust may add like 3 horsepower because there’s no muffler restriction but that’s it. Deleting cats and tuning the engine will get your performance upgrades.
Bought this exhaust just had it installed today honestly that first start was a huge disappointment , as far as the quality of the sound it's great, but this exhaust is not what I would consider loud. I'd say it's a soft 3 out of 5 if you want good sound with out a lot of volume this is it but if you want both this is not
@@firstfix1870 I'd like to hear a tomei in person having crazy buyers regret right now about not getting it instead but I thought the mbrp race would be louder than what it is as I've seen people say they had to remove it because it's to loud also some say it's not loud enough I guess it's all about your taste but I can't understand in what world that this exhaust is to loud
@@randymarsh7898 The MBRP is just a fair priced exhaust system it’s not as expensive as others and is decent quality. Just an improvement type exhaust nothing exotic
Can’t believe you did it in the rain 😂
Well I was in the middle of it when it started lmao
Dedication doing it in the 🌧
Yeah it started in the middle of the job but still had to get it done

Is it possible to upload some clips? I’m actually planning the same setup as you.

i have a rear diffuser on the bottom. would they still be able to install the exhaust ?
Hows the drone on it, if you still have it
Have you compared it irl with the race series? I’m also wondering if the street version is deeper and pops more then the race. Thanks!
Mine is the race series. The street series it quieter. Still some backpop

there is no v6 ecoboost mustang
@@idontlikedylan4068 yes their is, he's talking about the 2015 to 2017 when for had three engine options
Wasn't the V6 in those just a N/A engine? Not an ecoboost.

What about performance... Have you noticed any difference (in torque mostly)?

Yes the borla exhaust is louder but this one gives it a nice cold start and a better tone so at least engine isn’t silent like stock

See, I think your comment sold it for me. I'm looking for the deeper tone, without the exhaust being obnoxious.
@@randymarsh7898 The Tomei is crazy loud with a downpipe
How you like it? I'm set up the same but with a bbk dp
I like it sounds great in person
Is this the stock turbo?
yes, I have the 2017
