You can turn off warband completed quests in the map filter. It will get rid of the markers on the map for other characters

True, but the side quests will still be there, and the markers will still show up when you are in their area. I would like to have the option, similar to the MSQ, to have the side quests skipped after getting the sojourner achievement for a zone.

Something to remember about Shadowlands' unprecedented launch was that it was during the beginning of Covid lockdown. Everyone was home with nothing to do. It lined up perfectly. My experience with TWW so far has been extremely positive so I hope people give WoW a shot again if they've been on the fence.

Context: super casual player these days, bought Epic edition for for the goodies and sub time not for EA (but obviously ended up with it)
Overall having an absolute blast out there exploring the world. I do love the world building and story telling thus far, and the zones are gorgeous, but I'm really just not a fan of the underground focus and everything having a ceiling and I get frustrated at times just flying around and hitting dead ends on the map I can't easily circumvent.
EA felt fine, for me, but that's because I took my main out questing a few hours each day. End of the EA I was still only lvl 78 and had only just finished the MSQ, a handful of delves, and all the leveling follower dungeons. Gathered a little, but didn't touch professions. Within the first week I did finish up to 80 and get pathfinder, easier than ever. Nobody is ever going to notice I started "early" because my pace is so slow.
My plan is to finish all quests on my main, do all heroics when they launch, and go through LFR and try out story mode. Then I'll pick up a couple of alts, since I like to have a character for each role (instead of relying on a single hybrid to do everything).
tl;dr - between the world building, questing, warbands, delves, follower dungeons, and what feels like a lot of lvl 80 outdoor stuff to do... I feel like this launch has been fantastic, even with a few bugs, overall it's felt totally fine. I know other playstyles have different perspectives than mine and may not be having as much fun, but I certainly am.

Haha fr tho. I even took time off work for the EA, but ended up using most of it to catch up on errands and do irl stuff with friends. Then I heard about all the drama and it made me not want to even bother. Currently I’m just doing old wow stuff with a friend. I’ll see Khaz Algar maybe sometime this week - it would be a shame to miss out on the Darkmoon bonuses.

I will NEVER be in favor of paying for early access. Not ever. It creates a divide in the community that already has enough reasons to divide itself...casuals vs hardcore, pvp vs pve, aotc vs mythic raiders, solo vs group content players, speed levellers vs questers. Now they've created a have vs have-nots divide. It's not quite pay-to-win but it's toes are right on that line and the toenails need trimming.

I just hit 80 (on Saturday) on my main (frost mage) who was literally the first character I created back in Vanilla. I did the entire campaign (except the last part which I think will be available Tuesday) and all of the side stories (got Loremaster achievement). I was going to just split the side stories between my first four characters (out of 30 I intend to level) but I changed my mind and I think it was definitely the right move. Getting to 80 took a bit longer because I was getting a lot less xp in the Ringing Deeps because I had somewhat outleveled the zone but it was worth it. It was a really nice story and worth the time investment. I did the same thing in Dragonflight.

I bought early access because I wasn't going to be available the official launch week and I thought it was really fun to level quickly. I've been leveling some alts and I don't really notice the leveling changes with the pre-patch gear. I was very happy with the "early" access. The game was stable enough to play and enjoy within the first week for once, never have had that, the gold makers are always gonna have their way, pre season gearing doesn't matter as much and not for long, spoilers for story stuff has always been rampant at all times due to how WoW lets folks beta test. I was hearing opening spoilers for TWW months ago.
I wouldn't complain if they did this going forward.
Only gripe is that folks like me who did partake in early access shouldn't be elitists about it and it was a funny but dick move to kill everyone who wanted to play launch day in warmode.

Well broken down. So far, I am having a good time. the delves are a help to little ole me (don't do dungeons) to re-wet my feet in soft of dungeons. The dungeons that fill out your roster so that it can be done surprised me. I played as a druid tank (bear), i was surprised, the healer picked up the healing when I was low. Remember, this only refers to stuff that happened to me. Normally I avoid dungeons as I am usually kicked out. If I make it in to the dungeon, the healer normally announces that if you can heal yourself, do so...their focus will be on the tank. That is all I will say on that. The best part of the pre-release was the memories...it was good dying once more for the Epic bosses. To sum up, I am hoping it will remain this....acceptable for all 3 parts of this. Now question.....with Xalath floating around...was she a former Priest....Shadow Priest that is? Have a good one everyone.

I did early access but only farmed gold to make back the money I paid for it through buying game time. I enjoy gold farming, so it was worth it for me! Even days after real release though gold farming is still quite good so it wasn't necessary, it didn't give a leg-up on gear, and it made leveling easier for everyone being less crowded. In my opinion, having dual release worked well as long as they keep the limitations they had.

Dragonflight was the first season 1 I ever played, I always bought the new expansion a while after it launched before that and only started group content in shadowlands season 3. I’m also one of the people who finally had enough fun money to get the epic edition and just saw the early access as a bonus. It took a bit before I realized how amazing the beta access is too because it was my first time for that as well! I love how smooth the early access was though most of my guild group got disconnected during official release which ruined that one more for me. I don’t see how people struggling to log on and just going to bed is a good bonding experience personally.

This is the first time I have ever had early access to a game. In fact I didn't even realize I had it because I just bought the collector's edition like I always do and didn't realize it had EA until a friend told me. I won't lie, it was nice. The zones were rather quiet and I felt like I could go through them at a slower pace without having to deal with .so. many people at quest givers or in areas where I would have had to wait on mobs to spawn to complete said quests. Worst launch of an expansion so far for me. Came back to the game, played through Remix, had a great time, the prepatch was a great catchup, they built up a lot of good will there, and then they just completely ruined it with the early access thing. It wasn't on my radar at all, I didn't expect the way it would kill the hype and split the community but it felt truly awful. As others have mentioned, it was not early access, it was late access for anyone that didn't buy the most expensive option. I wouldn't have had a single problem with this if they just handed out "early" access to everyone that pre-ordered, that would have been a much more social and reasonable thing to do. But now I'm apparently one of the "poors"' because I decided to "only" spend 70 bucks on the expansion that I already pay a sub for. Those were a long 4 days, and it didn't help that I was absolutely bombarded with advertisements and social media post. They even went so far as to post spoilers on their official channels, truly incomprehensible. Then when us plebians finally got to play they decided to nerf the leveling experience. After all the streamers and whatnot had their easy ride to the top leveling a dozen alts with easy, we get to punch mud. It doesn't feel great.

I also think the whole "but it was such a smooth launch" was a bullshit excuse. Yeah of course it's going to be smooth if half the playerbase is missing. But there's probably other ways to go about this and ensure a stable launch other than funneling everyone into buying the epic edition, it's just a shameless cash grab. Furthermore, going back to previous expansions, I really can't remember the last time I was around for a launch where it wasn't smooth sailing already, that just shouldn't be a problem in 2024, they have all the experience and know-how they could possibly want and need to avoid messing that up on a technical level.

Tbh I don't think there should be a divide between people over this.
Some folks had the disposable income to spend on the early access some didn't.
This is the first time I've ever bought above the base level of the game as I really wanted the mount and used the shit out of it.
Having early access hasn't made me actually or feel ahead of anyone else as I only have a certain amount of time to play and it being the bank holiday weekend in the UK allowed me a little more play time.
I'm just casually (filthy or not😂) working my way through the side quests and soaking it all in.
I've never understood the need to be first or maxed in x amount of hours as to me that's wasted money.
Especially when certain things weren't available in early access and still aren't now.
No new race to play as of this week so would o do it again?
Probably not but definitely not because of any "community divides".

I had that rollback glitch, too, I thought it was just me and that I'd done one of those dc's where you don't realize you are dc'd lol.
    My thoughts of launch:
We bought the early access so that we could feel relaxed leveling instead feeling like we had to rush to max level for raiding. Our guild min/maxers also joined early access, but while they were leveling as many alts as they could to give them the most options for raid and M+. I was happy having all the time to read all the quests and only get my main dps and main healer leveled. The atmosphere was wonderful. I'd do it again if Blizz decides to keep early access.
I wasn't thrilled with another dwarf race, but I enjoyed them more than I thought I would after doing most of the quest lines. I love the delves and the ability to learn a dungeon as a tank in the follower dungeons. I didn't notice any of the glitches with the economy that you mentioned because I have just been collecting and leveling professions, and I'm not overly concerned with gold. I chose to level my main by doing the storyline, and I've started each new alt in a different region for all the side quests. Overall, I am enjoying this launch and have had a lot of fun.
Side note: there is a toggle on your world map to turn off quests your warband has done if you don't want to see them!

Its the smoothest launch ive ever had. Only 1-2 quests i really had to wait for respawns on, the rest went really smooth. So i think they need to do it like this on every launch from now on. Spending 20 min to finish a quest due to a million players tagging the same mobs is not fun. Having so many players that servers crash is even less fun. We had a few smooth luanches before, but nothing like this

I did not like the early launch, like others have said, it divided the community into haves and have nots that had nothing to do with in game skill or desires, but by whether you could pay. In a time where class divide is already pressing us down, getting it in my escape is just peak capitalist hellscape.
    I hated it.

those side quests show up as a different mark on my alts, if completed already. I did all but one storyline in the starting area on my main to hit level 80 as completing the main storyline. I then did an alt in each one of the zones to complete all the side quests in each zone. However, there are some bugged quests that I cannot complete yet. But those ! marks show up faded for the ones I have already done.

I haven’t even visited the AH since early access. And no issues with professions because it wasn’t really my focus. But the cloth drops just for tailors means I am having to grab loot fast in dungeons instead of just ‘leaving it behind’. One thing that bothered me is the lack of any mention of Dalaran being blown up and the loss of Kadgar.

I had a hard time finishing the leveling campaign because I wanted to do more of the other quests, I wanted to do more delves, I wanted to level my crafting and gathering. Early access was nice just to avoid some of the quest-giver-scrum of opening day shenanigans, but otherwise, it doesn't seem to have given my character anything more than a slight boost to fishing? Because I didn't intend it as a strategic element of play. But I'm just a filthy casual, so what do I know? LOL

This single feature changes everything about the present and future of WoW, and what Blizzard can do with it. I don't hold much hope for delves as solo end game content for people playing in quest gear. I tried a level 2 bountiful delve and was flat out wrecked, at lvl 80, ilvi 545. That's level 2, mind you. I was able to complete the same level 1 bountiful quest, and that dropped a piece of gear so below my current ilvl, and it did after a very long time of dungeon level tactical play. Rewards not worth effort; little chance of advancing through to upper levels. level 2, ffs.
So, is it solo play for open world folks, or is it something to do on raiding off days? It should be both, of course, but if open world geared folks can only do levels that add no ilvl, then again, it's a slap in the face to the kind of solo players that really do have little end game.

The staggered launch was awkward and did no favors to the game. The excitement of launch wasn't there between those avoiding spoilers and those not participating and when they did those in early access were done and bored.
Heck, hype was so low some our raiders didn't even start playing until later in the week. The expansion is good and didn't deserve to have it's launch ruined by greed.
That time with everyone together and excited for launch, even with issues sometimes is still an important event and the staggered launch just ruined it.

My only real issue is that, if you did the pre-patch event on an alt, you lost the option to skip the Dalaran crash intro sequence. While you still have the ability to just port there and do side quests and world quests, it just seems like an oversight. Personally, i think they should have carried forward with the way they did it in DF.
I saw some posts where people said you could talk to Jaina or Thrall, the only option either of them had was to watch the video.

I'd say its been a successful launch. Delves I feel are progression for the super super casual, you know like the people who cant even be bothered to do M0s, which is fine. I still see plenty of people online in my guild which for me is great, love seeing people come back. I think it would have been a miserable experience as a single launch. The servers were barely hanging on as it was, and with an extra 30% of players present they would have crashed far more. Funnelling everyone into a single zone is always awkward.
However, if they could fix stability with better sharding, perhaps a single launch would be better just to not see the incessant misery from the community. The guys shouting about "paypigs" the guys shouting back about "peasants and plebs", the people shouting spoilers in yell and say or just bitching out loud about this or that...its the most insufferable ive seen the community in a long time, and I want someone to make a mod that auto-leaves Trade on login, since it doesn't seem to let me leave it and stay gone anymore.

  • @chiefputty
    @chiefputty 20 днів тому

I've had fun, and I think overall the launch went well enough. However, a few really questionable decisions on Blizzard's part has marred the experience for me. First, and I think this deserves it's own video, is the NPC or Patron crafting orders. These are a complete failure for me at this point in the game. I think I could complete maybe 10% of them, and half of those would require me to spend upwards of 50k gold or dump all my knowledge points into something I didn't want to, just to do them. The rewards you get from doing them in no way justifies the cost of making these orders with little to no reagents. This was not what I was expecting, I thought they would actually help me, not taunt me. Second, while the leveling/scaling thing really needed to be corrected, Blizzard's timing could not have been worse. Very poor decision on their part that left a bad taste with a lot of people. Thirdly, while not a conscious decision like the other two, the AH not functioning properly during the first week has been awful. This is something that they really should have tested in beta, or reverted, or something. Not having a working AH during the busiest time of an expansion is inexcusable.
