  • My own race day experience filmed from external cameras and narrated over. Gives an insight into the new venue as well as some great tips for beginners... lots of dos and donts.
Spartan South West held at the Badminton Estate for the very first time. This was a single day event for Spartan, sharing the weekend with the Tough Mudder lot.
My Objective going into this event was to make it my fastest Beast to date (im not that quick) but this gave an opportunity to not have to get up the next day for Super. Knowing this and also knowing it was a much flatter course I went into this with a no walking policy in addition I wanted to try to run to the edge of every obstacle and away as soon as I was finished. No jibber jabber, no dilly dally.
Knowing I wanted a time I opted not to wear or carry a camera myself but rather use whatever footage my wife could collect from a spectator point of view. She did amazingly well covering obstacles from end to end of the course. She obviously did miss a handful the ones that were a bitt too far out of the way to reach.
With 2 Trifectas in the bag this year, and one left in October this was a nice little Segway to bridge the gap between them.
All in all this was a fantastic event. I really enjoyed it. All the positive changes from Spartan really went along way to fix alot that had slipped in previous events.
