are you kidding me? obviously you don't know how this technology works. Projection mapping isn't just point and shoot. It involves 3d tracking, carefully matched digital models, a deep knowledge of motion graphics, all manner of perspective tricks and in this case particle effects fluid dynamics and live footage. Best believe as talented as amon tobin is, he's working with an equally talented crew of digital artists.
I don't understand the technology outright, but ''Isam' live in Graz', although having more detailed imagery, does not seem to show a 3d perspective as astonishing as this. I'd say that ''Isam' live in Graz' used 3d projection mapping, whereas this projection for Amon Tobin @ Sonar uses what is known as 4d projection mapping. You'd think it would be hard to differentiate 3d mapping to 4d mapping on a 2d laptop screen, but there is clearly something more to this. And for those of you who were wondering what the difference between 3d and 4d projection mapping is.. well.. as far as I understand it.. 3d mapping is 2d projection mapped to 3d objects creating a 3d image, and 4d mapping is 3d projections using light from multiple projectors to create a 3d image without mapping to a 3d object, truly giving the effect as if you were watching 3d cinema without the 3d glasses. 3d mapping only looks 3d when the 2d projections hit the 3d object in the right way.. this looks 3d the hole time. Amazing
However, I could be completely wrong.. could just be a 2d image on a large screen.. but at the end of the day, lets listen to Amon Tobin for the music and get off our head to it :P
Did you watch it live? I am concluding not, because when you see Amon doing what he is doing it is amazing. It was his concept, they were paid to do what they do, he makes the music, they SHOULD BBOTHHHH BE CREDITED.
Amazing, wonderful, marvelous, a revolutionary artist
this blew my mind when i saw it in Denver a few years ago.
Sooooo stoked to see this tonight!
I want a sequel to this tour badly
so brilliant
notice how there are 0 dislikes. thats because Amon = god on earth. i got to see him in an astronaut suit in chicago. IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

its 3d mapping. the renderings look different depending on where you sit in the audience. center is the best experience
Гениально!
There should be some credits to the production team on this show...
Not just music.
i'd credit it if someone gave me the right details...
Anyone know the name of the song at 2:40?
HOW?
guess I was feeding the troll. ._.
