Yes - at this time, John Deacon was quite insistent he didn't want Brian May's guitar solos on his songs :( But what a solo this is - perfectly executed, and a major selling point for the Jupiter 8.
Yes and the band would accommodate the writer of the song's wishes. Well, Freddie would sometimes take Roger's song and completely rearrange it while Roger was on holiday. :D
The solo is a keyboard. Everyone assumed it was Brian May playing a guitar synth, when this tune was released. It does sound like Brian's style, but I've seen the BBC documentary recently. Only when playing live, Brian plays the solo. Fred Mandel used two 'Roland Jupiter 8's', on those 'Queen' recording sessions. I'm not sure if it was actually a JP8 used for the solo, but it was defiantly played by Fred...
One of the best songs ever made. The first 40 seconds gives me goosebumps. In a good way though. That part that starts at 2:33, that is the heart of the song in my opinion, absolutely amazing.
One of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. It reads out so many emotions. Queen are legends. I love the synthesizer part around 2:33. It goes right through you, love it.
I always thought that solo was Brian's guitar through some sort of processing. It's amazing that it's a keyboard player playing it on a Jupiter 8. Thats some skillfull pitch bending work. I wonder if Fred Mandel used a ribbon controller to do it.
yes the guiatr solo could have been recorded on the same track. a synth was used. john deacon didnt want a solo on i want to break free so a synth was used.
Lennon McCartney yes it’s a 3 string octave for the opening intro and bridge the ‘solo’ is just a single noted synth comp patch using a pitch bend wheel
I´m sure that brian´s playing, sounds just like Muse does synthetizing the bass... he used to pick with a coin, just listen carefully again... it´s not a keyboard, if someone is interested on keyboard solos wich sound like a guitar check out Ultravox, songs like Astradyne, Private Lifes.. it´s a very nice sound
from wiki: John Deacon, the song's author, insisted he didn't want a guitar solo on the track so a synth solo was played by Fred Mandel
It's Fred Mandel on the keyboard solo people....just read the credits on the album sleeve!

Patrick McGahern I love the solo

I love the part that starts at 1:38. I never knew it sounded like that without the singing and other instruments. Absolute classic.

Mini Moog for solo
Wasn't it a Fairlight keyboard?

The synthesizer of this song is a Oberheim OB-XA (Fred Mandel and John Deacon
Amazing song, one of the best ever made. Love the bit that starts at 1:39. Queen forever
Clearly Sawtooth synthesizer solo. (with roland jupiter 8 bending joystick.)

Wasn’t done on a Jupiter it was done on an Oberheim OB-xa using the modulation toggles
@@scottptolomey3498 yeah ive since seen a documentary where Fred demonstrates how it was done. I seem to recall he did use a ribbon controller
@@jaycee1980 He did on a quite a few Queen songs but not on that solo mate

the album synth solos were (i believe sometimes) played live with the guitar
THE TRUE OBERHEIM OBX FROM 80s
Slawek361 Some say its a Jupiter 8

Can I play this sound in keyboards?

Op-x pro ii vst is the identic sound of solo and versos and intro
Chorus 1:39
a synth was used on the solo sounds like a guitar but it isn't. the bit at the end is too low for a guitar

How to get this as ringtone for iPhone?
Yo también... Había un vídeo donde el músico que lo grabó hablaba y mostraba el teclado con que tocó... No lo encuentro ahora
@bcm409 Sure a 'Guitar-award' winning keyboard!!
Affff solo 🎸😁😁😁
Interlude 2:35
It's clearly a "Synthophone"!
Wish people who use these isolated tracks would actually set them in stereo and not put everything in mono.
Maybe its not a keyboard but a washboard? Has anyone seen me washboard?
if im gonna play it in a normal keyboard, what tone should i use? TIA

the solo is defiantly a keyboard. There is to much wah wah and bass at the same time for it to be a guitar.
It's a synth right?
sure this has no guitar in it?
