Instead of cuttin out porch for steps on other side of porch, just add concrete slab or them slab of brick pieces to cover up that dirt below the steps, many different colors shapes & sizes to chose from. Probably cheaper & easier & less messy

We've always had a outdoor Tv. Its located on the wall inside my "She Shack". I dont know the region you live. But, do yourselves a favor. Install a "all weather cover " over your TV investment. Pretects from all weather and you can lock it down. She shack is a 4 wall curtain and screen Canopy. Congrats!!!

Hi Torie, If your not 100% certain about having a pool in your backyard, I would suggest you doing a border flowerbed around your backyard and leave the grass in the middle for the kids to play and also for family/friends entertainment in the future.

Just because the Settee will give both of you a possible cramp in your necks turning to watch the television from that angle, also it will be much easier to watch the t.v. & whatever is cooking on the grill @ the same time. Travis, please consider this first! Make a paver walkway patio in front of the the steps and beyond that will go around the tree. It may cost less money, and will give you more curb appeal. Also, put a tree swing in the tree for the kids. Just a thought!❤❤
My kids are grown now but had a pool in the backyard, also had a summer home on the ocean front in Rye Beach NH, and 38' cabin cruiser on Lake Winnipesaukee NH. No issues with any of the kids. Just have to teach them right and take all the precautions you can. I did put them all through swim lessons.

A good pool builder can wrap a pool around that beautiful tree, making it quite large. I lived in Las Vegas with a small yard. If you get a lot of mosquitoes you might want to screen in your porch. We spend a lot of time outside 3 out of 4 seasons and we screened ours in. We also screened in the pool! Lol from NC

Just get some landscape brick walkway from your steps to around the tree. No moving stuff & a quick project for a professional. We only have one TV in the family room. In Michigan we don’t have good enough weather to have one outdoors. You need a play set for the kids.

around the stairs that you say gets muddy, to me that looks like a place that needs a mini walkway added to it or a stone or concrete landing of some kind. that will eliminate some muddiness but good luck with the rest of your ideas and plans
Don’t remove your steps. This would be a great place to put in a paver patio that would run the length of the porch. Incorporate the tree. This would give you another level for enjoyment and you can even install aa electric fire pit in the future. The paver patio could be installed timely and would be less expensive than removing your stairs. The stairs are even wide enough to add some potted plants leading out to the patio.

Moving the steps is a great idea. The previous step area can now be a wonderful shaded patio space. Make a seating area on patio above it.

The stairs can be changed to a ramp so that you can easily go up down stairs when injured or moving items to the open area grass.
