A4 LATE. Northern not so = DISASTER 😂 Record breaker tour 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley 4498 23/05/24

Sometimes you gamble and it doesn’t pay off! 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley hauls the Fellsman to mark the 65th Anniversary or the postwar steam speed record of 112mph. 3 minutes early at Clitheroe and then 7 minutes late at Whalley, the A4 came around the corner at Langho just as the Northern service train was trundling down the hill, also late but only by a minute!
For a few seconds the A4 looks grand with bellowing black smoke but alas the Northern then blocks the view! A quick exit stage left to the adjacent field was the best we could manage! Day was saved by the shot at Leyland plus Standish from the morning leg. Enjoy!

Very good Ian , certainly got plenty of action there and that happens a lot a Langho hence I always get to the platform end as at least the unit won’t block the shot completely and that normally wait till the steam has passed before setting off .

Yea we tried the platform end initially, due to the tree on the left in full bloom now a chainsaw is required for a decent shot! Gambled on the other end for a clearer view but alas sometimes it doesn’t pan out. On this occasion the service train actually set off before the steam too as it was late, it’s all a fun game eh!
