During my pinesnake study, I had 10 traps like that with a box in the middle five at each location. Always something in them when I would check them each week four times a week.
I like the water container you have there so they can get underneath it. I always had cardboard boxes with holes at the bottom in my traps. And then a big Tupperware filled with water and a wire mesh coming out of it in case animals fell in so they wouldn’t drowned. I got mammals birds, reptiles amphibians you name it in the traps.

The sponges are a great idea, especially for the excessive heat we're experiencing.
